Irelia- REAL STATS

Unfortunately mobafires system doesnt factor in atmas, warmogs, and BT. HUGE difference. real stats are---

Damage- 366
Health- 4196

Introduction

Hello Mobafire! this is my first guide, and I hope you enjoy. Irelia is by far one of my favorite champions to play as. However, most of the guides on here focus more on building her as an over-tanky disrupter rather than the melee offtank I believe she was meant to be. With my build, you can both take TONS OF DAMAGE (random Phreak quote) and deal, TONS OF DAMAGE. don't believe me? look down to see a screenshot of my last game.

Runes

I take as some armor pen for obvious reasons. it helps her do incredible damage early game, and scales well into late game. Quite honestly, I dont even have all the runes I suggested, but if you have put that much ip into runes- who knows maybe you do. The attack speed Quints and Glyphs make a huge difference all throughout the game. Early on it can help with that first blood, and later those heart- pounding 1v1 where you hope your lifesteal saves you. I chose CDR seals because she does have fairly long cooldowns, and while there are better cdr runes I wouldnt feel like trading any of the others.

Masteries

21-0-9. you're an offtank- melee- dps fighter, so that 21 is essential. also, with your lifesteal and item build 21 in defense is not very useful in my opinion. mana isn't a huge problem with Irelia, but that early sustain from 9 in utility is very helpful early game.

Skill Sequence

Depending on how the game is going determines whether you should max bladesurge or hiten style first. However, always chose bladesurge first and equilibrium strike second. Bladesurge into an opponent, and equilibrium strike and run away. this works great early game because 1) if you have more health, the slow will let you get away un-punished, and 2) if you have less health, the stun will let you get away un-punished. Its a win-win combo. Why max out Hiten style first? Well, say you are going against some pesky ranged champion like Cait. the lifesteal from hiten style will allow you to sustain yourself in between harassments. Why max out bladesurge first? in this clip, i will show you why. against squishys, bladesurge will catch them off guard and allow you to deal lots of damage while they run away. as always, take your ult at 6, 11, and 16. Not only is it a lifesaver in 1v1, in teamfights if placed properly you can hit their whole team, allowing you to deal tons of damage while lifestealing it all back. Her ult is one of the funnest in the game. getting chased? keep popping your ult behind you as you run away, then bladesurge/ equilibrium strike back the other way for a juke or even a kill. enemy running just out of reach? bladesurge to an enemy minion and Ult the champ running away.

Items

This guide will show you how to make her offtank while dealing TONS OF DAMAGE! start iff with a dorans blade for that extra health and lifesteal. combined with your masteries and hiten style- early game is a breeze. next start for some boots of dpeed, which will later be built inro berserkers. almost immediately you have 2 items you want. giants belt- and sheen. the giants belt early will allow you to take lots more damage and your hiten style will bring it all back. the sheen is a must on irelia. Bladesurge in, basic attack proc'd with sheen? Early game Vs a squishy like twitch there goes half their health. Depending on how much money you have, try to grab a phage as soon as possible too. If you feel champions are barely escaping- go ahead and build a frozen mallet first. If not- grab some berserker greaves, followed up by a trinity force. you should be doing some nice damage and be able to take quite a bit of harrasment by now. follow up with a frozen mallet, and a warmogs. as of now, your probably feeling a little tanky right? well thats the point! you should have a decent amount of attack damage, and you sustain and slow allows you do wear enemys down followed by bursts of combo damage. Grab an atmas - and you become twice as powerful. By now, the enemy has probably surrendered. But if not- grab that vampiric scepter and build it into a bloodthirster! the lifesteal scales nicely with Hiten style, and because of your sustain you will find it very easy to get a fully stacked BT.

Summoner Spells

Why flash exhaust? I take flash with 99% of my champions. Mastering flash will save you life, get you kills, and very often first blood. Why exhaust, not ignite? Early game, because you are melee I feel exhaust allows you to land more basic attacks. Late game- it will save you in 1v1, when you are getting chased, and even just disrupting a champion like Yi or Tryn.
