Lore

The Ionians have developed some of the most breathtaking and deadly martial arts on all of Runeterra – just one manifestation of their pursuit of enlightenment. The most remarkable blade style to emerge, however, was the unusual byproduct of foreign intervention. Master Lito was a swordsman whose teachings were sought by ruling classes from nearly every city-state. His art was a highly-guarded secret, but it was said that swords would breathe in his grasp. He withered unexpectedly from a mysterious disease which baffled the brightest of Runeterran physicians. When he died, he left behind Zelos and Irelia, his son and daughter, and a truly unique weapon. Zelos became a Sergeant in the Ionian military and left to seek assistance from Demacia immediately prior to Noxus’ invasion of Ionia. Irelia, charged with the protection of their home until Zelos returned, was alone when Noxian forces struck.

The Ionians fought admirably, but soon Ionian blood stained the land beneath the prints of foreign boots. At the Great Stand of the Placidium, Ionians prepared for surrender, but were inspired to maintain their resistance when the young Irelia hoisted her father’s enormous blade and pledged to hold until her brother returned. In the chaos of the ensuing fight, Irelia was cursed with dark Noxian necromancy. As her life ebbed, Soraka, the Starchild, made a final attempt to anchor Irelia’s fading soul. Unwilling to relinquish her home, Irelia rose at the brink of death, and her father’s sword lifted in the air alongside her. Irelia rushed back to the fore, unfazed by the blade’s sudden animation. The weapon danced around her effortlessly, cutting down Noxians as they gaped in horror. The decimated invaders were forced to retreat from the Placidium. Irelia was appointed Ionia’s Captain of the Guard, and when the defense of her homeland moved to the Fields of Justice, so did she.

“The sword flourishes, as though painting with blood.” -Taken from a Noxian Field Report

Ablities

Bladesurge: Irelia dashes forward to strike her target. If it kills the target, Bladesurge’s cooldown refreshes and half the mana cost is refunded.

Hiten Style: Irelia is skilled in the art of Hiten, passively giving her physical attacks health restoration. Activating Hiten Style adds true damage to her physical attacks for a short duration.

Equilibrium Strike: Irelia’s attack balances the scales, dealing damage and slowing the target. However, if the target has a higher Health % than Irelia, then the blow stuns the target instead.

Transcendent Blades (Ultimate): Irelia summons four spirit blades which she can fling at her enemies. These blades deal magic damage to enemies that they pass through, siphoning life from them and healing Irelia.

Ionian Fervor (Passive): Each nearby enemy champion (to a maximum of three) reduces the effectiveness of Crowd Control on Irelia.

Runes

Marks: Arm. pene. gives you better harras with aa and q, can be replaced by as or ad.
Seal: Armor, more survi in early, you can also pick dodge (more usefull in late and mid)
Glyph: Mr. per lvl for more survi against caster, mr flat are good when you have strong ap ont top.
Quintesence: Arm. pen. more harras and dmg, hp reg. sustain in early, dodge will be good too wiith dodge seal and masteries ofc.
This setup gives good early, but it's not bad i late and mid game.

Masteries

0/9/21- Hp. regen, armor & mr, long buffs time, mana regen, and coldown reduction. You can also take dodge instead of hp. regen i defence (runes for dodge can be very usefull with this masteries).

Items

Your core is Mercury and Phage, you can also buy Philosopher Stone for more sustain. After core Atma- it gives you lots of ad, crit and armor in mid game. Warmog + atma op combination, more ad and hp. After atmog GA, FoN or other defence items- you choise. This item build gives you about 200 armor and mr, about 3,5k hp (im not sure about it), good amount of ad and moblity- very important thing for chasing carry.

Skill Sequence

Max w, lots of true dmg and sustain then max q for more dmg (good scaling with atmog), then e. Ult when you can. When enemy on lane is squishy you can max q or e first for more burst.

Summoner Spells

Flash- must have, grate escape mechanism, and also good for chasing.
Teleport- dont want to looe creeps? Take it
Ignite- no more luckers
Exhaust- when enemy team has a lots of dps like trynd, xin.
I prefer flash + teleport. This setup give me escape mechanism and i can back more often i early game because of teleport (great spell for weak early characters).

Early

Take your item and go to lane (top ofc). You need to remember 1 thing about lane phase... FARM, FARM, FARM, FARM ana FARM. Irelia with 150+ creeps in 15 min=GG. Ask jungler for gank after kill enemy, try to push tower or back for item and destroy enemy when you have a lead. Teleport is great spell when enemy want dragon. You can farm top when your "top" enemy try to fight your team near dragon, then teleport and begin tf.

Mid

You have your mercury, phage and atma- you can dominate battle field with your dmg. Rush warmog gives you extremaly dmg. Don't get caught, fight for dragon, baron, help your teammates and focus enemy AD carry on tf.When you can farm lanes and try to push and remember to place wards.

Late

Lots of off-tanks are weak in late-but no Irelia. He has more power than in mid with full item build. Late is like mid, push, focus ad carry, help teammates. There is just 1 other think, if you lose tf it's probability end. So DON'T GET CAUGHT IN LATE GAME.
