I like to start red for the health regen. Ivern will take a bunch of damage early on from taking camps so red will help keep your health up to avoid dying to counter jungling or stupidity.

Ivern can go damage in the jungle; however, I feel that you might as well play someone else. His early damage is too low when starting with a jungle item to make him worthwhile. This build will keep him alive and give him good engage and chase potential to either make picks or setup ganks and support his team.

When running up to gank a lane, use your E on yourself then Q the enemy laner. AA them to pull yourself to them and plant a bush under them with W as you are pulled to them. If you timed it right, as soon as you are pulled to them they will be slowed by 70% by your E going off and you will have the bonus damage from your W to secure the kill.
