Introduction

Marks


Greater Mark of armor penetration

For marks, I usually take 9 Greater Mark of armor penetration because it gives about 11.5 armor penetration, which is especially useful against champions like Malphite, Garen and Darius. (these marks were nerfed from 1.66 to 1.28 in S3, but they are still viable in my opinion.)

Other marks you can use are Greater Mark of Precision because you are a hybrid champ, but the magic pen. bonuses do not really benefit you until mid-late game.

Seals




The 9 Greater Seal of Armor are probably your best bet as it gives you very nice early game tankiness. Another option is to take 9 Greater Seal of Scaling Armor as you are more of a late game champion, although it will make your laning a bit harder.

Glyphs




I usually take 9 Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist because you already have a decent amount of MR at lvl 1, but you don't get more when you level up, unlike armor.
You can choose to take a combination of Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist and Greater Glyph of Magic Resist if you are laning against an ap champion, like Vladimir.

Quintessences



Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage Taking 3 of these is pretty straightforward, as you are a bruiser. It will make last-hitting easier and you will win lvl 1 trades vs almost every champion.

Summoner Spells

As a solo top player, I like to take and .
You can also take instead of if you want to play more aggressive.

Teleport is useful for getting back to your lane quickly in order to not miss any cs and experience. If you ask your team's support to put a ward in the brush, you can Teleport to that ward and get a surprise gank off (preferably together with your jungler).

I take Flash because it's probably the best summoner's spell in the game, as you can get away from enemy ganks quite easily or use it to chase an enemy.
