Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hi, my in-game name is InterventX and this is my first Guide that I made here on Mobafire.
I'm quite new to this game myself but I've been playing Katarina most of the time and she is a really fun character to play with if you learn her combos well.
This is somewhat different from other guides because its mostly targeted towards beginner players that don't know much about the game and want to look at a guide that they can follow easily without any confusion.
I would appreciate a thumbs up if this guide helps you because I took my time to make sure Beginners will understand this guide :)
Pros / Cons
- No Mana
- Easy to learn
- Easy to farm
- Super fun to play
- Awesome Passive
- CC can stop her Ultimate
- Gets focused
- Weak early game if not played correctly
- Hard to master
BOUNCING BLADES // Cooldown /10/9.5/9/8.5/8
// Throws a blade from a distance dealing damage
// ACTIVE: Katarina throws a dagger that bounces quickly from enemy to enemy, damaging and marking them. Each subsequent hit deals 10% less damage. Bouncing Blades hits a total of 5 unique targets (4 bounces), each striking the closest next target.
Striking a marked target with an ability or basic attack will consume the mark to deal additional damage.
SINISTER STEEL // Cooldown /4
// Spins around dealing damage to nearby enemy/minions
// ACTIVE: Katarina damages all enemies in range. If she damages an enemy champion, she gains movement speed for 1 second.
SHUNPO // Cooldown /12/10.5/9/7.5/6
// Jumps on a enemy or allied target
ACTIVE: Katarina teleports to target unit and gains 15% damage reduction for 3 seconds. If the target is an enemy, the target takes damage.
DEATH LOTUS // Cooldown /60/55/50
// Spins around dealing high damage to 3 nearby enemy champions
ACTIVE: Katarina throws up to 30 daggers at the closest 3 enemy champions within range during the 2 second channel, damaging them and applying Grievous Wounds. Grievous wound reduces incoming healing by 50%.
Death Lotus can hit a single enemy champion no more than 10 times.
GHOST // Cooldown /210 Seconds
// Makes you run faster.
// Your champion ignores unit collision and has 27% increased Movement Speed for 10 seconds. You can use this to catch up to an enemy, escape or gank.
HEAL // Cooldown /300 Seconds
// Heals you.
// Restores 100-355 Health (depending on champion level) to your champion and to nearby allies. You can use this to heal yourself if you are about to die, and you can use it to heal allied champions too.
The reason why I'm telling you to use these two summoner spells is because they are the perfect start for a beginner and they can be really helpful if used correctly
Performing combos perfectly will help you deal a lot more damage to the enemy rather than just using your abilities randomly.
Early game, you can harras your opponent by using Q>E>W. So, using your Q, will throw the blade causing a little bit of damage, with E you jump on them and as soon as you touch the ground, press W to deal even more damage.
So, Q first, E second and W third. Using this combo will get you kills early game for sure.
This combo is similar to the 1st one but this time try going near to your enemy, throw a knife on them with Q and than right after W if you are close enough to them. Save your E because if they gank you, you can use your E ability to jump on a friendly minion and escape.
This combo is good for teamfights. Make sure when you are mid game or late game you are not the first one to jump in to start a teamfight because everyone will focus you and you will die really fast. Make sure you wait until a Tank or someone else starts the teamfight and also make sure that you wait until the enemy team uses their crowd control (CC) because CC can stop your Ultimate. So, once the teamfight starts and you think you are safe to go in, make sure to use your Q first to throw blades that way it hits the whole enemy team, and right after that, jump on a enemy champion with your E + W right after landing and once you use your W, use R (your ultimate) right away but make sure you don't move because moving will stop your ultimate.
Here are some helpful things that you might want to look at to get more information about champion, etc.
This website has all the news about League of Legends as soon as they come out so its really helpful if you like to know what is happening.
This website lets you choose a champion and tells you who counters it, or who its good against/good with in a lane.
This is really helpful if you want to read more about the champions abilities and to know their cooldowns etc.
This particular page shows you when you reach a certain amount what things you get.
Hope all these help you :)
This is not the kind of guide that goes into deep details about the champion because like I said earlier, I'm quite new to this game too and I'm still learning a lot of things. I just hope that you enjoyed my Beginners Guide because I took my time to write this.
Once you play the game more, and learn about other champions too, you will be able to know what kind of abilities the enemy team has and how you can counter them.
I will be changing this guide now and then when I learn more about things but for now, you can just follow this guide and trust me, if you follow it right, you WILL be better and Katarina than before.
