INTRODUCTION

Hi my name is Metanon and i bring you my first guide to Kennen. Kennen is probably my favorite champion, and that is because he is so fun. He is an assassin type of mage that does not use mana, but energy. The thing about Kennen is that in lane he can do hes full combo, wait 15 sec and then do it again.

LORE

There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Kennen is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Coursing the Sun - tirelessly conveying the justice of the Kinkou.

Kennen was born in Bandle City and it was said that in his first living moments he bolted first from the womb and second from the midwife who delivered him. His parents had thought that he would outgrow his boundless energy, but as he matured his energy found no limits and was matched only by his unnerving speed. Despite his astonishing gifts, he remained unnoticed (or at least uncaught, as he was quite the prankster) until, on a dare, he ran straight up the great outer wall of the Placidium. When word of this feat reached Kinkou ears, Kennen was quickly and quietly brought in for an audience. He found that the role of the Heart of the Tempest suited him, frenetically delivering both the word and the punishments of the Kinkou across the realm. He now works with his fellows Akali and Shen to enforce the balance of Valoran. This hallowed pursuit has unsurprisingly led the triumvirate to the Fields of Justice.

''The Heart of the Tempest beats eternal...and those beaten remember eternally.''

HOW TO USE YOUR SPELLS MOST EFFICENTLY

One of the most important things when playing Kennen is to learn how to use his combo the most efficient way. There are two main combos that you are going to use with Kennen. These combos are the POKING COMBO and the KILLING COMBO.

THE POKING COMBO: when playing as Kennen you always want to make sure that you stun the enemy after a combo. for example: you and your opponent are facing each other in mid lane. Suddenly you see an opening, what you are going to do is to try to get a hit with the Q. When you hit with the Q then use your E in and then your W to get the stun. If you cannot hit with your Q first, then E in to them, then the W and after that your Q. it is much better if you manage to land the Q first because then it might get off cooldown after the stun which means more damage!

THE KILLING COMBO: the killing combo is almost the same as the poking combo. First you will Flash in range for your ultimate, you want your ultimate to hit the enemy three times so that you get a stun. After the stun you do your poking combo and finish it with an Ignite. This will in most likely net you a kill. You most be sure that you will kill the target, if they don't die, all your spells will be on cooldown.

FARMING

In most cases you should lasthitt with your basic attacks. If you get hard poked by someone like Cassiopeia or Any mage with bluebuff you can lasthit with your Q. When it gets later into the game or when you build up some more AP you can E through the whole minionwave and press W. This will net you a lot of CS later in the game.

WHEN TO PLAY KENNEN

When you see the other team pick the champions: Akali, Katarina or Teemo, then it is a good time to play Kennen. These three champions are those that Kennen is very good against.

AKALI
Akali is known for her extreme burst and initiating. For Kennen this is a piece of cake. When Akali tries to burst you down, then you stun her. And if she goes into her shroud then it is just one thing to do; press R. This is amazing against Akali because it hits her while stealth.

Against Akali you should keep poking her with your Q whenever she tries to get a last hit. Once you hit level three you can do your full POKING COMBO. Remember always say when she is missing as she tend to start ganking a lot after level six.

KATARINA
Katarina Is a very easy match up for Kennen. Though she can deal a lot of damage to you if you dont have your cooldowns ready. Katarina is very weak for CC so this is why Kennen is good against her. This is also why you want to spare your cooldowns.

Playing against Katarina you must try to poke as much as possible in the very early laning phase (level 1-3). After she hits level three you will spare your cooldowns until she uses her Shunpo ability at you. When she blinks to you use THE POKING COMBO to get her really low.

TEEMO
Teemo is not very often put in the mid lane, but in the top lane. Kennen can also play top lane pretty well. So if you see the enemy team going for Teemo then it is the perfect time to pick Kennen to counter him. As Teemo tend to use his passive ( camouflage) to get invisible it is best to not have many spells that needs a target, Kennen has none.

Teemo does not have much burst, but a very good poke. Thats why you need to try to take him down almost every time you and him are getting in confrontations, or atleast force him to recall, as he will outpoke you if not.

WHEN NOT TO PLAY KENNEN

When you are playing Kennen there are some champions that you have to look out for. Typical champions that will counter Kennen is Fizz, Gragas and Kassadin.

FIZZ
Fizz is a pain in the *** for Kennen. When you are trying to do THE POKING COMBO he will just use his playfull/trickster ability. When he uses this spell he will dodge one of your spells and then you will not get a stun.

If you want get out of the laning phase without feeding that little fish, just stand back and get your last hits. You may ask your jungle about help to kill Fizz. But against Fizz you must not die, as he will then start to snowball, just get your last hits.

GRAGAS
Gragas is very hard to deal with as Kennen. The laning phase is not so bad as vs Fizz, but when it comes to your late game you will start to feel it. When there is a team fight coming up and you rush in with your ultimate, he will use his ulty ( exsplosive cask) against you by blowing you out of the fight, and rendering you useless.

Against Gragas you will try to get an early advantage. Try to land your POKING COMBO but without hitting with your Q first, because then he will just bodyslam away. Try to avoid his Q, because that really hurts.

KASSADIN
Kassadin is probably the best antimage in the game. As Kennen it is the same problem as with any caster that are against Kassadin, the burst. The nightmare usually starts at level six. This is were even last hitting becomes dangerous. He can just blink to you and burst 1/2 of your life.

You should apply some pressure early in the laning phase as this is were Kassadin is weakest. Try to make him loose much last hits early on. After he hits level six and starts blinking to you, apply your full combo right after as all off his spells are on cooldown.
