When the prophet Malzahar was reborn in Icathia, he was led there by an ominous voice which thereafter anchored itself to his psyche. From within, this voice bestowed upon him terrible purpose, and though Malzahar was no longer tormented by its call, the voice did not cease its unrelenting summons. This baleful beacon's gentle flicker -- now fastened to Runeterra -- drew forth a putrid beast that ambled across a threshold it did not understand, widening a fissure between the spaces which were never meant to meet. There amongst the haunting ruins of Icathia, Kog'Maw manifested in Valoran with unsettling curiosity. The spark which led him to Runeterra teased him still, urging him gently towards Malzahar. It also encouraged him to familiarize himself with his new environment, to the stark horror of everything he encountered on his journey.

The enchanting colors and aromas of Runeterra intoxicated Kog'Maw, and he explored the fruits of the strange world the only way he knew how: by devouring them. At first he sampled only the wild flora and fauna he happened across. As he traversed the parched Tempest Flats, however, he came upon a tribe of nomads. Seemingly unhampered by conventional rules of physics, Kog'Maw consumed every nomad and any obstacles they put in his way, amounting to many times his own mass and volume. The most composed of his victims may have had time to wonder if this was due to the caustic enzymes which stung the ground as they dripped from his gaping mouth, although such musings were abruptly concluded. When his wake of catastrophe reached the Institute of War, and enthusiastic Malzahar greeted him with an enticing prospect: taste the best Runeterra could offer...on the Fields of Justice.

Build Description:

The reason I am making this Build/Guide is that some people actually go AP on Kog'Maw, which is in my opinion a big waste of a good DPS.
Sure he is useful by scouting and dealing damage from long range with his ult, but a good DPS Kog can take several foes down easily.

First off I start with buying Dorian's Blade and a HP Pot. I'm used to playing mid, but if you go top or bottom it only makes your fb chance's higher.

As soon as you collect enough gold (And reach level 6) for Madred's Razors buy it and if your opponent isn't pushing your tower so much go for the mana buff.

Once you've done that you want to abuse your R skill and harass your opponent in any way possible, eg. E+W skills for slow and more dmg output and then aim your ulti at them. I usually end up getting a kill this way.

The bad thing about Kog is that his mobility is not that great. That's why I chose ghost so you can run/chase easily.


You see a heavily wounded opponent in other lanes? This is where Kog'Maw shines. Turn ghost on if they are teleporting or if they are laning with small HP. As soon as you are close to them just use your E+R skills and you will surely get the kill. If they are tower hugging 1-2 R shots will kill them.


Kog isn't that squishy, especially if you have Frozen Mallet. Also, if you are certain that you will die (If the enemy team ganked you) and that you can't run even with ghost on - It's not over yet! You can get a kill easily. Just target the squishyest enemy and make them suffer! You will probably get them on 1/4 of their hp if you used your abilities right - Now it's time for your passive, get as close as you can to that enemy and you will get the kill. This is great about Kog, even if you die you can do much damage to nearby enemies that most often you will end up with a kill.
