Ghost or Flash
In my opinion, either ghost or flash must be present in all builds. They are both great get-away skills. Besides that, they can also ensure you get a kill.
Ignite will help you ensure a kill, dealing some extra damage. It is especially useful when killing an enemy healer or tank, since it halves heals and deals TRUE damage!
Other viable choices
Teleport: It will give you better mapcontrol, allowing you to save towers and teleport to practically anywhere if you use wards, mushrooms or jack-in-the-boxes.
Clarity: You should not need it, if you have the right runes or tend to spam your abilities whenever they are ready.
Clairvoyance: If you like spying on the enemy
This is one of the things where this build differs from others. Other builds I have seen make use of flat ability power or magic pen quintesses. The reason flat ability power will not work is because Lux' AP Ratio's aren't THAT great. Another reason is the high mana cost of these spells.
AP Runes will not affect your passive, which deals quite alot of damage early game. If you have enough mana, like you should with this build, you should be able to use your abilities more often, allowing you to utilize your passive more often.
The reason there are flat HP quintesses in this build, is because Lux is pretty squishy, especially early game.
We start off with a Dorans ring and a health potion. Later on we will get a Mejai's soulstealer, because there's a bright future ahead. You will be able to maintain the stacks you get.
After that you are going to build a Rod Of Ages, for more survivability and some ability power as well. In the mid-lategame, you will be getting AP and cooldown redux items, to top it all of, you will buy a lich bane. Your skills charge the enemies, allowing you to deal extra damage if you auto attack the enemy, with a Lich Bane it will nuke them even harder.
This ability is the main priority. It has the best AP Ratio and it can snare 2 enemies at once. Don't forget to autoattack your opponent after snaring them (passive). The snare is great when fleeing from enemies, as you will snare 2 of them.
This is the least useful ability, in my opinion. It scales AP very bad, we are however going to put 1 point in it at level 4 just in case, it might save your or an ally's life.
A nice skill that is also great for checking out bushes. It's practically a ward for 5 sec. It deals moderate damage and the AP Ratio isn't bad for an AOE skill. Don't forget about the slow!
Shoop Da Whoop! This is your ultimate, and as with most ultimates, it's what makes the champion epic. It has a very large range (If you stand on spawn you can hit your inhibitor), making it perfect for finishing of enemies or helping a teammate in another lane where you are about to arive. The AP Ratio is moderate, expect it to deal around 700 damage in late game.
Be careful, you are squishy, despite the Dorans ring and HP Quintesses. Harass your enemies, but don't forget to last hit. Work together with your lane partner to get a kill.
Getting a kill shouldn't be too hard with your slow and snare. Once you are level 6, you will also have your ulti to finish them off.
Teamfights, commence! Use your abilities to snare the enemies and reveal bushes.
You deal quite alot of damage, however I wouldn't recommend trying to solo an opponent.
If early and midgame went fine, you will have alot of stacks and will deal ALOT of damage. Your ulti will half the enemy squishy characters HP, making it very easy.
Use your second skill in teamfights, to shield your teammates.
