I always take E first. I only grab 1 pot and then I play conservatively watching the enemy team's movement patterns. People are predictable. They will be aggressive if you give them space, but if they aggress and you punish them, they will play a zone that's comfortable to them while they wait for a more opportune moment.

This is where you watch and take notes. If their adc stands still a lot, then I will hit a bush and land a bind on them just as they're about to last hit a minion. Catching an adc while they're last hitting is awesome because it is their focus (unless they're bronze, and the they're just going to try to duel and they don't care about actually farming and winning the lane).

If the support is aggressive, back off and punish him. Some people just have a taste of blood and can't seem to get enough.

Lux's mobility was nerfed a long time ago. She's quite slow. However, I would NOT classify her as a champ lacking in mobility. The reason is because her crowd control gives her plenty of space to maneuver if you are PREDICTIVE with your casting rather than reactive. Some people argue that this does not mean that Lux is mobile, but I disagree.

Mobility is more than just being fast and agile, it's being able to move adequately and effectively within the space you have. You can create spaces to move by throwing your E and zoning, or binding by leading a target and being able to either close gaps or create them.

Depending on your lane opponent matchups (ALWAYS BAN LEONA, by the way), you can be aggressive or you must play defensive. Leona is a perma-ban for lux, not because she's an OP champ, but because she's a natural predator of Lux. Lux is squishy, and as such when Leona lands her combo, there's no surviving it if the adc is half-way even paying attention.

Use your E to poke, and try to focus on poking the adc, not the support - unless it's a Sona or Soraka - then poke them down or take whomever presents the most apparent kill opportunity when it comes. If you're up against a team that's playing cautiously, then just make sure you don't over commit to try to poke etc. Eventually they will present and/or your jungle will gank. At the very least, you will not LOSE the lane by being passive and your adc can just farm because the enemy team is zoning themselves.

To win the laning phase, you don't have to duel well. You do NOT have to kill the enemy team. You can harass them and bully them out of losing XP and Gold farming, and put them behind. This is just as effective as actually killing them and sending them to the fountain. Because either way...they go to the fountain and lose out.

That's the goal, and you should focus to at least have a Needlessly Large Rod by end of laning phase.

Keep an eye on your mid while you lane. Also, keep an eye on your jungle / their jungle. If you can assist in some way, alert your ADC and go get a piece of the action. Get the assist, the extra gold, and when you can get a few extra hits in on a tower, do it. Take down bot tower, and then immediately turn your attention to siege mid.

If the enemy team is behind, they will stay behind for a while by defending mid, or your advantage will crush mid. DO NOT OVERSTAY YOUR WELCOME.

Roam and push objectives, but protect your ADC.
