WARNING: These masteries are still using the old tree and have not been updated to the new tree by the guide author. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Masteries
Introduction
The AP for this build is much greater than the calculators claim, this is due to the 3% mana/ap from
Archangel's Staff and the 30% bonus to ap from
Rabadon's Deathcap, neither of which are calculated in the sites calculator, because they can change so quickly.
Baleful Strike also adds a decent bit of ap over time, and this is also not added into the equation for obvious reasons. This
Veigar build is very good if you can get it rolling, but mana is a huge problem early game, thus clarity.
I have played
Veigar extensively, and this is one of the better builds that i have used.
This is my second build, hope that you all enjoy it. Please make comment on anything that you think I should do.

I hope you enjoy the build.
P.S. I'm sorry for any gramatical errors or redundancies in the guide.
Pros / Cons
![]() PROS: -huge damage -escape ganks easily -build AP really fast, -easy to learn -ranged |

Runes
I chose these runes because it gives you the upper hand early on, but there are many alternatives, basically whatever you want. I would recommend leaving the glyphs as they are, but adding some mana regen would help a lot early game. Magic penetration runes also help out late game, and they may provide a better alternative than the ap runes. Here are some of my alternatives.
This one helps only if you don't use heal and you do use the first mastery that provides hp regen as a factor of mana.

Greater Mark of Mana 9 |
Greater Seal of Mana 9 |
Greater Glyph of Mana 9 |
Greater Quintessence of Mana 3 |

A decent mix of ap and mana regen.
| Runes | |||||||||||||||
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration 9 |
Greater Seal of Mana Regeneration 9 |
Greater Glyph of Ability Power 9 |
Greater Quintessence of Mana Regeneration 3 |
||||||||||||
this is just a very basic ap rune set up, and its only really effective at the end of the game.

Masteries
I like this set up because in the long run it provides both hp regen and a small amount of mana regen, but i also recommend these
This has more ap power, but you are limited to veigars small amount of hp regen, and no xp bonuses.
This setup provides a decent mixture between the other two masteries, but it doesn't have the major benefits of the setup above, the 5% ap boost.
Items: Contains some useful alternatives
The item setup is great, but if you don't have enough AP in the beginning try adding
Doran's Ring. This slows down the build for a bit, but if you get an early kill it offsets the cost.
Rod of Ages is important only because of the mana boost that it provides, which adds to your total ap, but if your having trouble just buy
Will of the Ancients, the spell vamp does help if your in trouble, as well as the instant 70 ap, as opposed to 100 over time. You can always go back and buy the
Rod of Ages later on.
Lich Bane helps increase your damage output by a lot. If you are having trouble getting kills i recommend
Lich Bane because it adds a ton of physical damage as a follow up to any spell that you cast. At max AP it can be as high as an extra 700-1000 damage. This is a huge advantage since you can deal almost as much damage as
Primordial Burst with a melee attack.
Skill Sequence
just roll with it. I usually only use
Baleful Strike and
Event Horizon until after lvl 6, but
Dark Matter is a great way to get money and deal a lot of damage.
Event Horizon also helps you escape, which is also always good. A longer stun means that you get farther away.
Dark Matter is strong, but the fact that it is easily escapes means that you need to have a stun of about 2 seconds when you cast it, or extreme luck. Don't level up
Dark Matter until after you have leveled up
Event Horizon at least twice, preferably three times, better chance of succeeding with
Dark Matter.
Summoner Spells
I like to use
Heal, it helps keep you near the front for as long as possible. This prevents having to b or die every time that your low on health.
Clarity helps prevent being mana starved, and it can be used as a weapon. Most people will attack a veig with no mana, so when they follow get more aggressive, you just use clarity and event horizon and your set.
Remember that you do not have much health and that you die easily, so don't choose
Ignite or
Exhaust unless you are confident in the build and your skills as
Veigar.
I am an aggressive
Veigar who likes to use his summoner spells to turn the tide of combat quickly, and I use low hp and mana as bait if i have my summoner spells. this strategy may be disastrous the first time you try it, but it helps you get some kills real fast. Greedy opponents fall for it and tower dive easily, providing you with some extra cash and a few points of AP.
Summary
By the end of the build, your
Primordial Burst and
Dark Matter will both do over 1,000 damage, so, unless they have a huge amount of health, you can basically destroy the enemy team, especially if you catch them in
Event Horizon.
Baleful Strike will do a lot of damage, and is a great way to finish off your opponents.
Hope that you have enjoyed my build, please comment.
