Hi I'm 5yn and this is my first guide. I've played hundreds of matches with Yi (mostly as AP Yi). AD Yi is an overlooked champion because he no cc and AP Yi is more popular. With the changes to the item Blade of the Ruined King, an old monster is reborn.

Right now I only play AD Yi top lane with my smurf account that is ironically higher tier than my main (5yn). Why top lane? because no one expects and ad yi top. They always think master yi is ap mid in champ select, they will mostly comp around ap yi counters (like cho) & the health stack meta, which botrk yi has no problem with.

Doran's Ring is the best item starter for master yi.
HP + AP + Mana Reg. "Restores 5 mana when you kill an enemy unit." - this passive is huge, as long as you don't spam your alpha strike, you can lane longer.

it's also important not to reveal your real build by just stalling the laning phase, having just doran's ring, boots of speed and a few wards. If you get lucky enough, your laner will build hexdrinker or giants belt.

This is where the work is all done. Creep scoring.

Whenever I last hit i ask myself, "can get to it without sacrificing some hp?" if its too much of a trade off its okay, just back off and get exp instead.
whenever I push or try to duel, obviously you wanna know where their jungler/mid.

its important that you never stop farming and last hitting as much as possible. ad yi has different playstyle. i usually push lanes, get towers, ward jungle, and come to teamfight last.
