Introduction

Hey Guys,

Have fun with my guide about the new Ryze (Varus Patch.) He got some Changes in all of his spells and my guide will consider them. Im not the guy who like to write much about Ryze. In my opinion u just have to try my build in a few games and u´ll see its strength.

New Ryze

Ryze got some changes in his buff:

Desperate Power:

-Passive bonus mana per level of skill (75/150/225) removed.
-New Active: Active: Ryze becomes supercharged, gaining 15/20/25% Spell Vamp, causes his spells to deal 50% AoE damage, and gain 35/55/75 Movement Speed for 5/6/7 seconds.


Overload

-Changed from 40/65/90/115/140 (+0.2) plus 7.5 % of his max mana in magic damage to 60/85/110/135/160 (+0.4) plus 6.5 % of his max mana in magic damage.
-Mana Cost reduced from 70 to 60.
-Range reduced from 675 to 650.


Rune Prison

-Snare reduced from 1/1.3/1.5/1.8/2 seconds to 0.8/1/1.3/1.5/1.8seconds
-Plus max mana % in damage reduced from 5% max mana to 4.5% max mana.
-Mana Cost reduced from 80/95/110/125/140 Mana to 80/90/100/110/120 Mana.


Spell Flux

-Damage ratio increased from 50/70/90/110/130 (+0.35) magic damage to 50/70/90/110/130 (+0.35) plus 1 % of his max mana magic damage
-Mana Cost reduced from 60/75/90/105/120 Mana to 60/70/80/90/100 Mana


Conclusion:

All in all its just a Midgame nerf, but a early game and lategame buff.

Lore

There are many on Runeterra who are attracted to the study of magic or, in recent times, the emerging field of techmaturgy. For most, pursuit of such knowledge is formalized in a college or university. The halls of traditional study were never for Ryze, however, who felt a more raw and primal connection to the magic of Runeterra than those who tried to teach him. He struck out on his own as a young man to discover what already called to him. Ryze traveled the world, seeking the wisdom of powerful hermits, witches, and shamans - anyone who had something to share beyond what was taught in the city-states of Valoran. When he had learned all he could from these fonts of wisdom, Ryze turned to seek the lost, forgotten, and forbidden knowledge in the world, delving into mystical worlds where others feared to tread.

Ryze's tireless searching for magical knowledge led him to an ancient form of spellcraft known as thorn magic. This art required Ryze to tattoo spells on his body, permanently infusing his being with vast arcane power and finally fulfilling his need to bond with the mystical energies of Runeterra. His travels also led him to uncover the giant indestructible scroll he now carries on his back - the purpose of the inscribed spell remains a secret only Ryze knows. He claims it is an abomination - something that he must safeguard from the world. This has piqued the curiosity of many, though no one is sure how to separate the scroll from Ryze, or if it is possible to overcome the rogue mage to do so. Since then, Ryze has joined the League of Legends to study the magical creatures and powerful will-workers that fight there, in order to complete his exploration of mystical Runeterra.

Items

Start the game with boots and three potions or a mana crystal and two potions. Boots and three potions is a much more safe build against skillshot champions, while the mana crystal ensures that you will get your Tear of the Goddess much sooner. Tear of the Goddess is Ryze's primary damage item.

Ryze's core items will be a Tear of the Goddess, Catalyst and Glacial Shroud. These all turn into defensive items for Ryze, those being the Banshee's Veil and Frozen Heart. Deciding which to complete first depends on how the game has played so far. For example, if an ability power carry is fed, you should opt for finishing your Banshee's Veil sooner.

After that u go for some dmg by Archangel Stuff, Rod of Ages and Void Staff. U should just pwn ur enemy team like hell, cause ur tanky + u deal tons of damage.

Runes

Marks: Magic Penetration x 9

Standard Mage Mark Runes

Seals: Mana Regen Per Level x 9

For some Midgame - Lategame Dmg

Glyphs: Flat Mana x 9

To get more early dmg.

Quintessence: 4.5% Move Speed

Ryze is very slow, means u need some speed up with runes.
+ His ult gives him Movement Speed

=> Faster Ryze, more viable, more ganks, more escape.

Summoner Spells

A midgame Mage should always have flash, cause u can escape every gank easily or catch a kill maybe.

Ive chosen Ghost instead of Ignite, cause Ryze has very low Cooldown on Overload. Means if u are able to Ignite someone, u would be able to cast just one more Overload and kill him aswell. But Ghost gives u another option to dodge the enemies Skillshots ( eg Brands´q ) while u dont have any Skillshots. U can run in a circle around him and spam ur spells.
