Nocturne, The Eternal Nightmare

Before Nocturne, people believed that dreams were figments of their imagination, meaningless images that flashed through the mind when one slept. This belief was put to the test when a rash of sleep-related incidents started afflicting summoners of the League. Some would wake up screaming, terrified and beyond consolation. Some could not fall asleep, slowly going mad as the nights ticked by. Some simply never woke up. Physicians were baffled until a Field Architect happened to pass out next to a nexus on Twisted Treeline. Witnesses said he cried out once and then stopped breathing. Immediately after, magical energy arced out from the nexus, and Nocturne appeared.

Nocturne did not take his introduction to this world kindly. He slaughtered everything he could find before summoners were able to magically confine him. After a period of intense study, League experts divined that Nocturne hunted summoners in their sleep, attacking them in a place where their magic was useless. This seemed to be his only purpose. The families of the victims demanded justice, but League officials were concerned that death might only return Nocturne to the place from which he came. They bound him to a nexus fragment, trapping him in the physical world. As punishment for his crimes, they allowed summoners to call upon Nocturne in the League matches, bending his will to the summoners he hates and creating his own personal nightmare. League scholars don't know whether he truly came from the plane of dreams, or whether there are any more like him. Some theorize that the summoning act affected summoners' subconscious minds, luring Nocturne to them in their sleep. Perhaps the most disturbing theory is that Nocturne is a person's nightmare come to life. If this is true, they wonder, who is the dreamer?

Intoduction

Hey guys, this is my first build and i hope you like it! Most people play Nocturne as a jungeler and he is very able to, but I play him as an inescapable killing machine (which to me seems more scary than anything else :P). I made this build mainly for those people who do not like jungeling, but want to Kick A** with Noc. I hope you like it ^.^

Quick Notes

You can change the buying order if you want, its up to you.

It's sometimes better to get Shroud of Darkness before Unspeakable Horror Do so if the team has mostly casters (also if you just want the attack speed)

The Madred's Bloodrazor is an important situationalitem!. Feel free to swap in and item for this if the enemy is stacking loads of HP.

Black Cleaver and Infinity Edge are completely by choice. If you want the extra damage, sell the Ghostblade for this. If the enemy is stacking ***loads or armor, Black cleaver mixed with Ghostblade makes them cry!

Summoner spells

Ghost, for running away or catching up, awesome spell all-round.

Exhaust, Epic for chasing or in a 1v1

Your tools of Death...

Passive- Umbra Blades
Awesome passive, great for staying in lane for longer, jungeling (if your into that)and getting a good solid chunk of hp from you target.

Q spell- Duskbringer
Your main spell, deals good damage, has nice range, and the dusktrail it makes is not only good for chasing, but since standing on it gives you extra Attack power, it can be used in farming or killing towers. YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO AIM THIS OR YOU WILL BECOME USELESS!!!

W spell- Shroud of Darkness
Gives you awesome attack speed and its active can block a huge range of things. I love using this against Cho'Gath because you can simply stand in his rupture or scream and suffer nothing, also blocking his feast is the funniest thing in the world. XD

E spell- Unspeakable Horror
DoT is nice, but not that noticeable. Mainly used for its fear, which will make them even less incapable of getting away. Use this when trailing a Target.

R spell- Paranoia
Simply awesome. HUGE range, awesome damage. Good for getting into ganks to kill what you want to, or last hit a champ who managed by miracle to get away from you. (mostly people with Stealth, Blinks, or improved Ghost.) USE THIS INTELLIGENTLY!!!

Items!

I usually start with Doran's Shield as the armour and health regen will be you best friend early game, and to help save you from being killed first.

When you can, get Mercury Treads, the Mag resist and the CC reduction is just what Noccy needs!

Get Catalyst The Protector as soon as you can! It gives you that survivability and mana you need no start to face roll.

Pick up The Brutalizer when you get the chance. This item will greatly boost your killing power with its CD reduction and attack damage...Pretty much all around win.

Pick up Zeal whenever possible. Attack speed, Crit Chance and Movement speed makes you even more scary!

I get the Vampiric Scepter at this point just to lane for much longer and to help you get some health back after a fight with your passive as well.

When you have the gold for the GhostBlade get it. The armor pen and active just make you ridiculous at killing things.

Gotta love Phantom Dancer on Nocturne, just makes him death.

Phage The core item of this build! Your attack speed at this point is pretty awesome on its own so the passive will happen loads of times. The extra HP and Damage is essential. Sell your shield for this!

Frozen Mallet is what makes you unable to escape from. The passive on this is just beastly, mixed with your Q, will make sure you catch anyone running away. It looks uber cool with frozen skin ;)

The Bloodthirster will be you last item. the stacks on it help not only increase your ability to survive, but will also most of your spells stupidly strong. Get the stacks to full and you will be insanely hard to kill 1v1.

Runes

These are what I recommend but pick what suites your play style most!

Ganking and Team play

IN 3v3

At the start, when you pick lanes, see what you team has. If you are with a champ who can solo better than you, let them have it. Otherwise go for it.

If you are with a partner who has good CC, abuse that fact to faceroll people. Early game you hit pretty frigging hard, so with a good snare or stun, you can get an easy kill.

If you are alone, be careful as you are quite squishee. if you have the *joy* of laning against a ranged champ you should be fine if you keep your distance till level 6. At this point, Paranoia into them, and unleash hell on their faces.

Now you are one badass of a ganker so use this to your best ability. You can use ulti to fly in and rape their squishee or to last hit any idiot who thinks they can run. Use Q whenever you can and Fear the highest damaging Champ on the enemy team. This has worked countless times for me as it is pretty damn effective.

Whatever you do DON'T ALWAYS KILLSTEAL!!! doing this will Garantee (:P) your team wont help you. Yes you can occasionally ( Duskbringer through the wall for a ranged *****slap is my personal favorite) as you need gold but limit yourself. Nocturne is adept at killstealing so be warned.

Other than that just play for the team and common sense and you'll win!

5v5 still work in progress

I am open to any suggestions!

Conclusion

I hope you guys enjoyed this guide and I hope it helped some people play more effectively. :) I am open to any critisim or suggestions so don't be shy :) Also with regards to the lack of Infinity Edge, you can replace it with the shield whenever you want instead of Madred's Bloodrazor
