Laning Phase

Laning phase as a support is unlike any other role in the game, in terms of both play style and impact. The ADC will (ideally) get fed and carry the late game, but until level 6, you own the lane.

Sona is one of the best poke supports, but has weak sustained damage.

Common Lane Matchups

Thresh
Thresh is in theory a less threatening Blitzcrank, since his hook moves slower and doesn't pull you as far. However, he is tankier, uses less mana, and has a wider variety of CC options. His lantern alone makes him a top-tier support in any team. If you can avoid his hooks, you should be fine in lane. Keep your minions between Thresh and you whenever you can. Thresh is tanky, but his weakness is his poor sustain, so bully the enemy ADC.
