Introduction

At the point of making this guide it is the second day that Rakan has been released and of the games I have played him in, I have won around 90% of the games adjusting my build each time to find a good combination. So after practicing in Training mode and the other maps (Summoner's Rift, Twisted Treeline, ETC) I think I have found a pretty solid build on the new support champion.

Don't take this guide as 100% true and best guide ever, I still have some tweaks I am learning on the new champion so it will be updated accordingly.

Skills

Fey Feathers (Passive 1)

Cooldown: 40 - 16 (based on level)

Rakan periodically generates a 33 - 254 (based on level) (+ 90% AP) shield. Damaging an enemy champion with a basic attack or ability reduces Fey Feathers cooldown by 1 second.

Tips
Poking a lot in lane helps you keep your shield up in return for them damaging your shield thus lose shield while poking, get shield back, rinse and repeat so they take damage and you stay fine.

Lover's Leap (Passive 2)

If either Rakan or Xayah is recalling, the other may move nearby and activate their own recall to join them. Both reach base at the time of which the initiator's recall ends

Tips
For Lover's Leap, I recommend if with a Xayah just sync your recalls.

Gleaming Quill

Cooldown: 12 / 10.5 / 9 / 7.5 / 6
Cost: 60
Magic Damage: 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+50% AP)

Rakan slings an enchanted feather forward, dealing magic damage to the first enemy hit.
If that enemy was a champion or epic monster, a small circular area is marked around Rakan.
After a short period of time or if an ally champion comes into contact with the marked area, Rakan heals himself and surrounding allies by 23 - 150 (based on level) (+ 70% AP).

Tips
Your best lane poke so you can get your Fey Feathers back, and when building one of the AP items above it can do much more damage than many can expect.
As well as hitting it on a champ so you can heal any damage you or your adc might take.

Grand Enterance

Cooldown: 18 / 16.5 / 15 / 13.5 / 12
Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90
Magic Damage: 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+50% AP)

Rakan dashes forward, landing stylishly at his destination.
After a dramatic pause, he leaps into the air, dealing magic damage and knocking up surrounding enemies for 1 second.

Tips
Your "Hey watch them get killed!" ability since hitting it when your adc is ready can give them some fairly easy kills and gives you good moments to go into your E or Q and follow up with your ADC.

Battle Dance

Cooldown: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 / 12
Cost: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100
Shield: 50 / 85 / 120 / 155 / 190 (+80% AP)

Rakan leaps to an ally champion, shielding them for 3 seconds. Battle Dance can be re-cast for 5 seconds at no cost.
When re-cast, Rakan may select the same target again.
If Xayah is the target, Battle Dance is able to be cast from an increased range.

Tips
This is a good ability to get to your ADC if they are in a bad spot or away from you, a walk or even a flash then E to them can really help them take some more damage so they can either escape or get more autos onto the enemy. Also good in teamfights to shield your squishier teammates so they can make more plays.

The Quickness

Cooldownn: 120 / 110 / 100
Cost: 100
Magic Damage: 100 / 200 / 300 (+50% AP)
Charm Duration: 1 / 1.25 / 1.5

Rakan enchants his coat with a captivating sheen for the next 4 seconds, dealing magic damage and charming each enemy he touches. Enemies can only be affected once.
Rakan benefits from 50% bonus movement speed for the duration, which is briefly increased to 200% upon first damaging an enemy champion before decaying back down to 50%.

Tips
THIS IS OP AS HELL. This ability can change a teamfight easily, using your E to get into a close them charming them all the knocking them all up with your W gives your team plenty of time to delete their squishies and can also help you to pick off their stragglers after a teamfight.

Runes

The Sorcery Route

1: Summon Aery because additional damage to enemies and additional shields for your team helps in teamfights and supports your ult beautifully.
2: The Ultimate hat because you'll be using your ult quite often to engage or possibly disengage.
3 : Transcendence due to the free CDR and boost to AP you might possibly get depending which build your following.
4 : Scorch since as a support doing good damage early lane helps not only Rakan's start but your ADC's, this coulc pick up early kills.

The Resolve Route

1: Revitalize increase shield and heal power.
2: Font of Life helps out in terms of the build, if you build more tanky go with it, it will be more effective but I can easily see Perseverance being just as useful.

Combos

Knockup Peel
W -> Q
If you can land and easy W on the ADC or support of their team, land it and follow up with a point-blank Q so you can then run back or perhaps E back to your ADC and give them a free heal and possibly have them damage the knocked-up target.

GANK THEM ALL
W -> Q -> E
Similar to the previous combo, just add the part of ganking an enemy laner to start, you could even use the more pricy combo (the next one) for this, however this is the easier combo to get off some damage and a gank.

All-In Gank
R -> Q -> E -> W -> Q -> E
This will either kill them, or waste your mana if you don't have a gank followup. This is a great start to hit your charm and then forcefully hit a quick Q - > W combo and then Q again and get away with E or auto till they die, very pricy combo and may be hard to learn, but is good if done correctly.

Did You Look At Me Funny?
E -> R -> W -> Q -> E
This is the "SAVE MY ADC" Combo, since if they are in a bad spot you can E -> a quick R that charms them, and Knockup while they are charmed so your ADC can damage and then a quick Q for some health and damage, and then E back to your laner for their new shield and heal. This combo is probably the most complicated and far-out I put, but can work in some situations that you may find yourself and your ADC in.

CC God
R -> W -> Q -> E -> Auto -> Q -> E
This combo is when you want to pick off an enemy in a teamfight, starting with your ult, when you activate it you can get in range to W so they get charmed so they cant escape the knockup, then you use Q for health auto to get your Shield Passive reset and then Q again, Afterwards Using E to get back to your squishies and healing them and shielding them.
