Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hey guys this is my first build, so any constructive criticism is appreciated. Please leave a comment if you wish to vote. :D P.S. This build was designed for 5v5 play, if you see any typos feel free to let me know.
Edit: I have tested this build on Twisted Treeline recently and it works well there too.
Also, To the voters, please do not down rate my guide without commenting why. I gladly take all criticism! Even if you just dont like this playstyle I would greatly appreciate knowing why my guide gets negative votes, so that I may immprove it in the future. Thanks in advance.
Summary (for those of you who don't like reading)
- You want CDR, AD, Atk Speed, in that order
- CDR allows you to harass very well early game and to stun a lot in mid-late game
- The ones that I suggest make it very likey that you/your lane mate get first blood
- You can sub them out for the abilities that you prefer
- These masteries help nullify your early game survival issues/help you stay in lane longer
- Harass with Slice and Dice and Cull the Meek
- Chase/escape with Slice and Dice
- Support/stun/win with Ruthless Predator and Dominus in team fights
Pros / Cons / Other
- Great harass early game
- Great escape mechanism
- Can easily get first blood with good coordination with your lane mate
- Dominates if fed
- No cost for abilities
- Can't solo well
- A tad squishy early game if you dont use my suggested runes and masteries
Renekton is not a tank, so this build capitolizes on his dps capabilities, along with some extra survivability. P.S. he recently got a buff to his early game, so he can survive and dps a little better now.
Skillz to pay the Billz
The reason I max Slice and Dice first is because it is your main harass and damage ability early on along with Cull the Meek. I max Ruthless Predator last because the stun doesn't get any longer, and because Slice and Dice does more damage if you hit both times. Also Cull the Meek helps you out more in the long run because it heals you, which allows you to lane longer.
As for masteries the defense tree really helps him stay in lane a long time since you have 3 Health Potion and Cull the Meek, also with the points in utility you will be leveling a bit faster than the other champs in your lane.
The runes I chose are to further increase your survivability, and to lower your cool downs.
with the suggested items and runes you should be hitting 40% CDR cap early in the game so you can spam your abilities like no tomorrow. If you feel confident enough then you can switch out the health quints for armor pen.
I pick Exhaust and Ghost so you can run down just about any champ with no problem and to help you escape/cc your enemies. I feel like this spell combo is the most useful on Renekton
Flash is always a solid choice for any melee champ, Cleanse is also good if you often face cc heavy teams
Ok as for items I focus on CDR at first then AD after I get my The Brutalizer. the reason i stack CDR early is because you have no cost abilities that have decently short cooldowns, so lowering them alows you to do lots of damage pretty quick and force your opposition out of your lane. Then you stack AD so you can maximize your dps for mid-late game team fights.
Yes we are finally here!!
Pick up your Boots of Speed and 3 Health Potion and head to your lane. harass from the bushes with Slice and Dice and Cull the Meek to do loads of damage and make your opponents back up. when you have leveled thrice it is very possible for you to get a few kills in your lane, Slice in, stun with Ruthless Predator, then Cull the Meek followed by a dice away if they are too close to tower or dice into them if you feel safe doing so. If you diddn't get a kill/assist then you haven't been harassing hard enough or your enemies have been too defensive, bad lane mates can also cause this outcome, but anyways. As a side note always aim for the squishiest champ. When you have over 50 fury save it for a Furious Ruthless Predator so you can have the max stun and deal a good amount of damage to your target, or if you are hurting for health then use the fury with Cull the Meek to build HP back up.
By the time you hit level 6 you should defenately be able to kill anything in your lane.
If you have been keeping your oposition well harassed and back away from the minions then you have been doing your job, and you should be a level or 2 over them, especially if you got some kills. You should also have your Ionian Boots of Lucidity your Spirit Visage and at least 1 Longsword. As soon as the enemy tower falls in your lane you should help in other lanes and gank, build up kills so you can finish your build quickly. You should also be able to farm very effectively with Slice and Dice and Cull the Meek.
By this time you should have all of my suggested items except the The Bloodthirster and Zeke's Harbinger. When a team fight starts wait a few seconds if you can then jump in with Dominus turned on and use Ruthless Predator any time you can/or to save your allies/run away. Otherwise you can farm if you see an opportunity. When you get all but your last item you should really be hanging out with your team and taking out your enemies towers.
