Introduction

Hey guys, this is ChromeJoker.
This guide will be about playing Ryze more efficiently and powerfully.
Thanks to JhoiJhoi on her guide to making a guide, which you can find
here.Anyway, lets get to the point. Ryze is a Ranged Mage who is effective at snaring and demolishing champs. This guide will tell you about each and every aspect of Ryze. Good luck, and have fun playing Ryze!

Summoner Spells

There are a couple of summoner spells that will work well for [ryze] Ryze. Some viable choices are:

Ignite
Flash
Clarity
Ghost
Ignite on Ryze is a perfectly good choice. Ignite Ignite cuts the opponent's healing in half, which will allow you to kill champs like Soraka or Sona much easier. It also does damage over time, which could kill that pesky Tryndamere running away with no health.
Flash is a great choice on just about any champion. From catching up to an enemy or running away, Flash is the way to go. For example, Ryze can use this to get his opponent in range of Rune Prison, which will allow you to follow up with Desperate Power Overload, and Spell Flux.
Clarity Clarity is a convenience to have, especially early game. Ryze is very mana hungry throughout the game, and Clarity could be the difference between a kill or a miss. I have been though countless games where I could have killed my opponent if only I had more mana.
Ghost in my opinion could be used as a fine substitute for Flash, as the results are similar between the two. Lets say "For example, Ashe is chasing you and you need to get away fast. You can survive 3 more rounds of Frost Shot before you are going to die. You use Rune Prison to stun her and leave her behind. You then Flash to a safer spot, but then you see Enchanted Crystal Arrow fly towards you and kill you. Because Flash was on cooldown, you couldn't Flash out of the way of the arrow." Now, lets substitute Flash for Ghost and see the outcomes. "Now, you use Rune Prison to get some distance from Ashe, and now you use Ghost. Now, when Enchanted Crystal Arrow comes flying by, you are fast enough to get out of the way before it hits you." Now, you can see a situation where Ghost would be a fine substitute for Flash.
