Introduction

Hello and welcome to my first guide here on mobafire.

I am a fairly new player and will try to put together an easy to follow guide for players new to either the jungle or to Evelynn.

Updated for patch 6.8
Runeglaive has been removed and replaced by runic echoes, the build is a little different, nerfed badly in my opinion which is the reason you see less of eve these days.
She now gets her item spike at 3 items instead of 2. I think she really needs the sheen procs and rylai's slow to be effective.

Added an AD build path after finding Whobick's guide. I tweaked mine abit for my prefered playstyle though his works just aswell!

Pros / Cons

After 6.8 AP Eve got alot harder to pick up, not only does she get her powerspike after 3 items instead of the usual 2, it also means you that with your jungle item and 2 offensive items you are kind off a glass cannon.

The AD build path gives a little more security and the fact that ppl won't expect you to be attack damage and damn tanky.

Pros
+ Invisible!
+ Easy ganks if you manage to get behind a lane opponent
+ Good escape with dark frenzy
+ Awesome counter jungling

Cons
- Very squishy due to needing 2 offensive items
- Need to get used to the invisibility range
- Hard counter by stuns and snares
- No CC untill 6 or Rylai's

Runes

With the removal of runeglaive I have changed these up quite a bit.

9x Marks of Magic Penetration
9x Seal of armor
9x Greater glyph of ability power
3x Greater quintessence of ability power

I take the armor glyphs to help me in the jungle early on.

For AD build path I take pretty standard runes

9x Marks of Attack damage
9x Seal of armor
9x Greater glyph of magic resistance
3x Greater quintessence of attack speed

Masteries

With the new masteries I have found the most use in the cunning tree, especially the new keystone mastery "Thunderlord's Decree". You really need the burst, combined with sheen and Ravage you really blow people up.

Ferocity
Fury : Evelynn loves attack speed
Double edge sword : Better then feast
Vampirism : it helps alot in your first clear
Oppressor : From the moment you have Rylai's this mastery is always online

Cunning
Savagery : little bit faster clears
Runic Affinity : As a junger I think this is obvious
Merciless : Pick a low health target and destroy!
Dangerous game : Very handy after each succesfull gank
Intellegence : I find this pretty helpfull
Thunderlord's Decree : The sudden damage spike is real in this one

For my AD build path I actually take the exact same masteries

Spells

Passive - Shadow Walk
This is what evelynn sets apart from any other champion in the game. During this time only turrets or vision wards will notice where you are. You can basically roam the entire map finding opportunities to gank or counter jungle without beeing seen. Even if you weren't finding anything your time wasn't wasted since you just got all your mana back.

Q - Hate spike
We max this first, if you manage to position yourself correctly this will hit all targets in a straight line, do a fair amount of damage and has a really low cooldown.

W - Dark Frenzy
Very usefull for chasing and escaping. Do not forget that it first of all clears all slow effects on you and more importantly it resets on assist or kill!

E - Ravage
We max this second, does really nice damage but also gives an attack speed buff.
Tip : when sieging towers use this on a minion to get extra damage on the turret!

R - Agony's Embrace
The damage is fair, not great. But the slow and shield it provides are really great.
Try to use this as an opener due to it doing %health based on current health.
Waiting 3 or 4 seconds in a fight to use it can really turn tides as you want to hit as many people as possible with it.

Creeping / Jungling

With the changes to jungle items and removal of critical jungle masteries I find it fairly hard to get your first clearing working properly.

I will always start at gromp asking a leash from either bot or top lane depending on where you start. After that I get my blue buff ASAP, getting this early is mandatory to be able to clear the other camps.
The moment I get my blue buff I will clear out the wolves camp and see if I can get the rift scutler to regen back mana and health.
At this point you should have smite back and be healthy enough to get your red buff. If i'm in good shape and I find either lane close to our red buff pushed up under our turret I go and see if I can make a gank happen. If thats not the case I clear the chickens so I can recall and buy my jungle blade.

After this first clear and back you are basically ready to go. No camp will put you in danger anymore and you will always be in good shape to find ganks.

When you play evelynn and you spot the jungler ganking the other side of the map its always nice to get some counter jungling going on, they won't notice you getting in or out and you can leave some wards along the way.

Team Work

When playing evelynn I tend to not care if I steal an early kill or 2.
She's one of those champions that can snowball very hard and take her advantage all over the map with her passive invisiblity. Because after you get those kills your goal is to get your lead to other lanes ASAP. You will be really strong and they won't see you comming.
Use the advantage and start snowballing other lanes from this point on.

When mid game hits you should be able to clear jungle camps in a matter of seconds, abuse your passive to get into the enemy jungle, ward it and clear the thing.

Farming

As evelynn you should have enough gold from your jungle and kills/assists.
Let the lane farm for your carries unless the minions are going to waste.

Unique Skills

During late game and team fights try to find flanks.
When the fights engage find a good angle to frenzy in and pop your ulti.
A good ulti will net you a very large shield and the time to kill a carry.
If you managed just that, use dark frenzy and get out of that fight, you are still squishy.
Spam those hate spikes for good slows.
