Introduction

Hello everyone, Today we're going to learn about Hecarim! This is my first guide, don't be too harsh. Hecarim is an Offtank Fighter, who excells at helping his team wether it be a mass fear to save your teammates or turn the tides of a teamfight, or a charging knockback to throw someone into a tower for a kill or two. He's a great hero all around in general, With this guide, provided you follow it you will excell in laning in casual games. sooo here we go....

Runes

Why do I pick these runes? Well for one he's an off-tank so the extra defense and magic resist will not only let you lane longer, but keep you alive longer in Teamfights. Some might say, Why armor pen and not good old solid AD? Well from my experience with this champion you won't be doing heavy damage until you get your first few damage items so the armor pen helps quite a bit especially in lane early game, provided your decent at "lasthitting" you won't need the extra AD to help you with your minion farm.

Masteries

Why these masteries? Well the extra speed from the "Summoner's wrath" mastery helps tremendously when you activate Ghost. Then take your basic attack damage mastery, attack speed and top it off with the 10% armor pen. Since i play him as an off-tank fighter, This is where I switch to the defensive masteries. The masteries I have chosen above are very viable for staying alive when it matters most.

Summoner Spells

Why do i choose these summoner spells? Well ghost is pretty obvious since he gains bonus damage based on his move speed. Flash? Well i use it for 2 things....Getting away, and flashing behind opponents to punt them into teammates. So take both of these summoner spells for they are both spells that not only will work very well for Hecarim, but will allow you to have almost anything you need for any situation.

Items

Why these items? Boots of speed gives him a speed/damage boost early-game. Ninja tabi gives him that little extra armor he needs, "Spirit Visage" allows him to heal quite a bit more from his "Spirit of Dread" Ability. Building Trinity Force allows him to excell at having enough health, mana, speed, and damage for anything he encounters. Building "Maw of Malmortius" Not only gives him decent damage and magic resist, but a shield and a damage boost aswell depending on his current HP and how low it is. next i build Frozen Mallet for a large health boost with small damage increase to help me gain a gigantic damage bonus from "Atma's impaler" Which is a really good item for him given you follow this build.

Skill Sequence

Just follow it! Trust me on this one!
Rampage: I recommend mixing your auto and not spamming rampage too much, tho it is good to spam for easy minion farmin' or harassing but be sure to combine your auto attacks with rampage for the maximum effect.

Spirit of dread: This ability will help you stay in the lane longer because of it's healing effect. This is the main reason i build spirit visage, for it increases the healing quite a bit. Use this whenever your in need of health for some quick decent healin' :)

Devastating Charge: Only take 1 in this ability til mid game, for it's got great utility, Wether your running away, pushing someone away to save a teammate, or ganking, This ability is extremely useful. especially when combined with his ultimate "Onslaught of Shadows".

Onslaught of Shadows: His ultimate ability, get asap, DUH! it's extremely useful Let me name a few things i use it for. Jumping over walls to escape, Ganking, Mass fearing in teamfights, Aoe damage in teamfights, Small bursts of damage, and an advanced move I like to call "Devastating Onslaught of shadows charge" xD, well you can use this ability to fly over enemies to attack them right? Well why not activate devastating charge beforehand jump behind them and knock them back into a teammate. Yeah? It's a good idea!

Summary

In conclusion, Hecarim is an extremely good champion all around, he can be used for many things as described above^^ This is my first guide "Lol newb with his first guide doesn't know **** " blah blah Point is, i've used this same build for about every single game with Hecarim so far, and it has yet to fail me... So I hope this helps the curious people who just can't figure out how to build hecarim effectively. Don't hurt me!! i'm new here!
