Introduction

Welcome to my Tanky Critty Plank guide. Aim of this guide is to have a strong, tanky pirate who tears the enemy team easily. However this is one of my first guides so if you want to give me tips or correct something write a comment, I'll take care of it as soon as possible.

Pros / Cons

Before we'll go deeper into the guide I list you the pros and cons of it

Pros
- Tons o' damage
- Tanky like a tank and still critty (Depending on your chosen build)
- Gangplank

Cons
- Miss Fortune is a pirate hunter
- You deal less damage the more armor your enemy buys (obvious)

Runes

Greater Mark of Malice
You can also take flat ADs (YOU LOSE 8% CRIT)

Greater Seal of Resilience
These make you a hard enemy to every AD at the beginning!

Greater Seal of Shielding
You can also take Crit instead.

Greater Quintessence of Strength
Well you can take almost every AD quintessence you want, but I take these for a bigger advantage in early game

Masteries

As the mastery tree changed in the last patch I needed to rebuild this guide's masteries. The chosen masteries should theoreticly do a good job, but they are still in work and I might change them soon. You can also post improvements! :)

Items

Brawler's Gloves : I chose Brawler's Gloves as starting item to have the same advantage like Critplank at the beginning: Frightening Crits and easy FB!

Philosopher's Stone : Philosopher's Stone is a great item in my opinion. It gives you some HP and Manaregen and 5 Gold per 10 Seconds which is awesome since you may have manaproblems at the beginning.

Avarice Blade: Avarice Blade is a nice item for Gangplank 12% Crit and 5 Gold per 10 Seconds. Must have!

Warmog's Armor: Good Hp boost and awesome damage boost with Atma's Impaler!

Atma's Impaler: Armor, Crit and AD equal to 2% of your Hp, self-explanatory I think.

Force of Nature: FoN is a great item for almost every tank, also for Gangplank. It has a nice Hp regen and an awesome movementspeed increase.

Ninja Tabi: Well, these are situational. If there's alot of AP in your enemy team you may take Mercury Treads instead, but most of the time Ninja Tabi are great.

OPTIONAL
____________________________________________________________________________________

Infinity Edge: One word: Sick. But you may replace it with Randuin's Omen if you want to be even more tanky. I chose IE for more AD and Crit of course.

Phantom Dancer: It's pretty nice but you can replace it with Banshee's Vial when your enemies have annoying abilities but usually Phantom Dancer will solve all your problems.
Trinity Force: Amazingly good item, but most of the times hard to afford because of its price

Abilities

[PASSIVE] Grog-Soaked Blade

Gangplank's basic attacks and Parrrley apply a poison that deals magic damage each second and slows movement speed. Lasts 3 seconds and stacks up to 3 times.

An awesome ability in my opinion which slows the enemy and applies a DoT. Nice to hunt down enemies.

[Q] Parrrley

Gangplank takes aim and shoots an enemy with his pistol. If Parrrley deals a killing blow, he gains extra gold and half the mana cost is refunded

This ability is what makes Gangplank a true pirate. He shoots his target right into his ugly face and you get extra money if Parrrley kills the target. Parrrley also applies On-Hit effects like crits and the Redbuff

[W] Remove Scurvey

Consumes a large quantity of citrus fruits which clears any crowd control effects on him and heals him.

Immunity to every kind of CC. Nothing much to explain.

[E] Raise Morale

Gangplank fires a shot into the air, increasing nearby allied champions' attack damage and movement speed.

This ability also increases your movement speed and attack damage passively. Activating will double the effects. You will regain the passive effects once the ability is ready again.

[R] Cannon Barrage

Gangplank signals his ship to fire upon an area for 6 seconds, slowing enemies and dealing random damage in the area.

Farming remotely, saving teammates, securing kills, easier fleeing. All that is combined in one ability. Pretty nice!

Skill Sequence

I recommend you to max your Q first as it's Gangplank's most hated ability. Then skill your E but put atleast one point in Remove Scurvey to be less vulnerable to disables.

Summoner Spells

I recommend you to take these because they are nice to escape in tricky situations or to hunt your enemies to death.

This is also okay but not that effective since you are fast like sh** as Gangplank.

Remove Scurvey, nuf said.

Why?

Why should you even think about it?

If you want to jungle for some reason, okay.

No.

If you like this spell so much replace it with ignite.

Also an alternative. Replace it with ignite if you want to use it.

Team Work

As Gangplank you have 2 or maybe 3 possibilities to help your team. You can use your ultimate skill to annihilate huge amounts of minions or help in teamfights, you can use your E to buff the team with movement speed and AD and you can tank snares/stuns and remove them with W.

Teamfight

First of all you use your E to buff your teammates. Before you run into the group to beat em up use your ultimative ability to slow them. Then you run into the group and use your Q on the AP Carry. GET RED BUFF BEFORE A TEAM FIGHT SINCE IT PROCCS WITH YOUR Q
Back to Top

Farming

Farming as Gangplank is like farming as any other champ. Just wait until for a creep to be almost dead, walk towards it and kill it with autohit. Try to last hit with your Q as often as possible since you get some extra gold.
