Introduction

Hello, everyone, and thanks for reading this. First, I'll try my best to explain what I'm trying to acomplish with this.

I've noticed that a lot of people are playing Mundo as a fighter, a thing which, even though it may yield results, I don't find satisfying in ranked games. Mundo is a little too squishy for the job, and when built tanky, doesn't deal merely enough damage with Blunt Force Trauma to match with other fighters.
That's why I'm building him as a passive aggressive tank who deals ****loads of damage just by being near you and melting your face off, while throwing gross, filthy cleavers at you every 3 seconds.

Pros and Cons

Enough with the talking, let's get to the pros and cons:

Pros:
- deals damage just by being near his enemies => great agains squishy melee like Master Yi or early game Trnda;
- deals HUGE amount of damage with Infected Bonesaw;
- VERY tanky;
- it's very resilient in lane due to Goes Where He Pleases and Maximum Dosage;
- pretty easy to play;

Cons:
- Ignite renders his Maximum Dosage useless

Runes

Alright, now that we've established the pros and cons, let's get to the runes.

As you can see, I went for HP, Armor and Magic Resist. I consider these to be the best stats for Mundo, since he is kind of squishy early game.

Masteries

As you can see, I did something a bit unusual with the masteries. I went with a "2|27|1" format instead of the classic "9|21" one you're probably used to. Why ? Well, because the mastery trees changed alot and I really think the "9|21" format is not universaly good anymore, especially on Mundo.

The main point with these masteries was to get as tanky as I could, in order to make the already resilient Dr. Mundo, even more resilient. That's because this build is, as you can see, a little expensive, and you'll want to stay on lane as much as possible and focus on getting last hits ( the Butcher and Bladed Armor masteries, along with your Heart Zapper should help you do this just fine ).

In conclusion, the masteries are all about staying on lane, pushing waves and getting ****loads of gold in order for you to be the ultimate passive-aggressive Tanky-DPS there is in the late game.

Items

Now, the items section. Well, this is gonna be a little tricky, since the posibilities in this game are almost infinte, and no two games are ever the same, but I'll try my best to explain what items you SHOULD get:

STARTING ITEMS:

Doran's Shield is a great starting item, it gives you HP, Armor, and Health Regen. If they don't have any problematic AD champ, you can also start with a Ruby Crystal to rush Spirit Visage.

CORE ITEMS:

Spirit Visage - Words just can't describe how important this item is on Mundo. Even if you don't need the Magic Regen or HP, it's STILL VERY IMPORTANT because of the passive effect which stacks great with Goes Where He Pleases, makes your Infected Bonesaw return more than half of his cost in HP and also stacks great with Maximum Dosage. You should have this by level 6.

Sunfire Aegis - This is another great and very important item. Not for the armor and HP ( which are also important, by the way ) but for it's passive effect which makes for a superb combo with Heart Zapper.

Warmog's Amor - Yep, the good old armor of Warmog... It's obvious why I get this. I get it for HP. HUGE MOUNTAINS covered in green HP bars. HP is really important for Mundo as it's his only resource for spells and Heart Zapper consumes alot of it.

Force of Nature - This isn't really core, since you CAN survive without it, but I'll still mention it since alot of people don't seem to get it on Mundo. Well, all can I say is, GET IT ! It not only provides you with a lot of Magic Resists but also makes for some awesome Health Regen which stacks great with Goes Where He Pleases.

BOOTS:

Definetly Mercury's Treads. The tenacity is great, because it allows Mundo to go where he please, when he pleases. Ionian Boots of Lucidity might look tempting, with their Cooldown Reduction and all, but I don't recommend them on Mundo.

OTHER ITEMS YOU MIGHT WANNA CONSIDER:

Quicksilver Sash - This item is really great, and can save your *** many times when playing ranked. That's mostly because people are going to ignite you, or apply Grevious Wounds on you, which will render your Maximum Dosage useless. If you get Quicksilver Sash, all you have to do is activate it and then laugh in their face.

Thornmail - You know the drill, they have ultra-fed AD auto-attacker, so what ? Screw that bastard, you've got Thornmail to save you ! Haha ! Also, this item's passive effect also contributes to you passive-aggressiveness.

Guardian Angel - Can help you win alot of teamfights, by resurrecting you in the middle of your enemies, and allowing you to place some Infected Cleavers. Can also save your ***.

Randuin's Omen - Great Crowd Control, can help you in alot of cases, especially when you're trying to catch someone but your Infected Bonesaw is on cooldown.

Skill Sequence

Now, obviously, this isn't one of those fighter-Mundo builds, so you should max your abilities in the following order. First, it should be Infected Bonesaw then Heart Zapper and then Blunt Force Trauma. However, you should invest a point in Blunt Force Trauma at level 4 to help you get last hits ( although with these masteries farming won't really be a problem for you ) and to help you push.

Summoner Spells

My #1 Choices :

Ghost - A lot of people told me to replace it Flash, because " Flash is the best summoner spell in the game"... Although I admit that Flash is great, I still think that Mundo doesn't need it... He doesn't require a lot of positioning for his abilities, and with his ultimate, Maximum Dosage, he ends up having huge amounts of Movement Speed, usually more than enought to get away from his enemies. Plus his Heart Zapper reduces the duration of stuns and slows used on him ( although this tactic might now work if you're very low life... ).

Ignite - They always use it on you, so "why u no" use it on them ? Ignite is absolutely great on Mundo, early game, it allows you to finish off your enemies like nothing else, and late-game, even though it's damage is less important, it's still great because it basically cancels all those pesky Healing-Over-Time effects.

Honorable Mentions:

Exhaust - Slows enemies down, makes 'em more vulnerable to damage, a great spell overall, the only reason I prefer Ignite is because allows me to deal a little more damage 'till the end of the game, and because you can use Infected Bonesaw to slow enemies. Still, Exhaust is extremely useful on Mundo. A very honorable mention indeed !

Some things you should keep in mind while playing...

Ok, so, the title says everything, here are some things about how to play Mundo while following this build:

1.As you can see, this build is very tanky ( I might even say that this is a tank build ) and in order for you to deal maximum damage, you must be in the middle of the fight, with your Heart Zapper activated, throwing Infected Bonesaw at everyone around you and auto-attacking the f*ck out of them with Blunt Force Trauma. The high damage output is exactly what makes Mundo a good tank, since people are going to focus you rather than your other, squishier mates, for the single reason that "holy ****, you're dealing SO much damage".

2.Harass. Harass while farming, do it all the time. It's very easy since you have that extremely short cooldown on Infected Bonesaw. It's only a matter of time 'till the Squishies run back to base...

3.Don't overestimate Mundo. Even though late-game you're going to get tanky, Mundo is one squishy bastard during early game, just like everyone else. So remember, Mundo shouldn't always "go where he pleases". Especially if "where he pleases" = under the enemy tower.

Summary

Well, this is it pretty much it, for the moment, I've finally finished this, even though it's been a long time since the announcement I made on my blog, and I hope you enjoyed it. It doesn't teach you ALL there is to know about Mundo, it only mentions the basics, the rest you can only truly learn by playing.

Please, let me know what you think of this in the comments section ! Any criticism will be strongly appreciated, and I'm sure that, with the community's advice, this build is going to improve !
