Introduction

Hello! My name is NorToXz, and I will introduce you to my favourite marksman; Vayne!

Vayne is a fun and mechanical hard champion to play. She is easy to play, but hard to master. Once you have played her for a while, you will start to understand how she works. I will try to give you a headstart :)

This guide will be frequently checked and edited, so I appreciate criticism :)


Abbreviations:

Dmg - Damage
AS - Attack speed
AD - Attack damage
AP - Ability power
AA - Auto attack
MR - Magic resist
MS - Movement speed
ADC - Attack damage carry

ADC = Marksman (ADC is old term of the role, marksman is the new term)

Pros/cons


PROS



* Great damage lategame.
* Great mobility.
* Tankshredder with Silver Bolts
* Handy escape with ult + Tumble
* Easy to lasthit if you are good with Silver Bolts
* Easy to evade skillshots with Tumble




CONS



- CC is a hard counter. Get CC'd and you ded.
- Weak early, before you get some attack speed.
- Tumble the wrong way and you might be dead.
- Low attack range.
- Can be shut down early.
- Use Condemn poorly, and you might save the enemy.

Spells



Flash is a spell you must use. You have the ability to
reposition, and you can also use it to escape difficult situations.



Heal is the best spell for a marksman. The additional health plus the movementspeed boost may decide between life and death.







Never use this spell. Only Heal and Flash. Barrier is like, so 17 metas ago.

Abilities

Vayne has, in my opinion, one of the best and most fun abilities in the game. The sum of all of her abilities makes her the mobile, stealthy killing machine most of us have come to love and fear.




PASSIVE

The passive, Night Hunter gives Vayne more movement speed when moving towards enemy champions.




Q


This ability has many uses. Early game, you can use it to even up trades, or you can use it to lasthit easier. If you see two minions are gonna die about at the same time, and you know you can't kill them both at once, then auto one of them, then use Tumble quickly to reset your autoattack to get the extra creep.




W


This passive ability makes her the tankshredder she is. Every third autoattack ( Condemn included), will give the enemy a stack. When an enemy get 3 stacks (autoattacked the same enemy 3 times in a row), this enemy will recieve bonus damage, and extra true damage equivalent to a percentage of the enemies health.




E


Condemn is an ability which knocks back an enemy a fair distance. If the enemy hits surface, for example a wall or a turret, the enemy will also suffer extra damage. It is pretty often fatal to hit this stun, because you get a huge lead of your opponent if you manage to stun them. A stun on a Marksman, how good is that?!?




R


When activated, Vayne's ultimate gives her passive a boost, so she can move even faster against enemies. She also receives an invincibility when she tumbles, while the ultimate is going. In addition, she also receives a small AD-buff.

Verocity




Fury Gives 0.8% attack speed per point, which provides 4% attack speed with 5 points in it.

Feast gives 20 health for each unit killed, with a 20 second cooldown.

Vampirism 2% lifesteal extra on Vayne is always good.

Bounty Hunter gives 1% damage increase for each champion killed.

Cunning




Savagery makes you deal 5 bonus damage to minions and monsters.

Secret Stash makes potions and elixirs last 10% longer. In addition, your health pots turns into biscuits, which provides 20 health and 10 mana when activated.

Merciless makes you deal 5% extra damage to champions below 40% health.

Dangerous Game makes you recover 5% of your health and missing mana when you get a kill or an assist on an enemy champion.

Precision gives scaling armor penetration.

Thunderlord's Decree makes you deal extra damage for every third attack you do on the same enemy. This is really good on Vayne, since she will get a lot of damage done because of this mastery, in addition to her W passive.

+9 armor, so you can sustain enemy poke earlygame.


Ca 8.5 extra AD, so its easier to lasthit cs in earlygame.


You will need the extra MR, since Vayne is a lategame champion.


You will need the extra 13.5% these quints gives, so you can autoattack faster, and get the third Silver Bolts-shot.

Items

Start




When you spawn, always buy these.


Main core



Get this item first. Always. It was good before to rush Infinity Edge if you were ahead, but getting blotrk is good 11/10 times. You sorely need the extra attack damage early, especially if you are against a tank support. If you know you are ahead, get Bilgewater Cutlass, so you can you the active to deal axtra damage or slow. If you wanna farm and outtrade, get the Recurve Bow first.


Core




Tons of dmg! Buy this after two AS-items, such as Blade of the Ruined King and Phantom Dancer

Even more attack speed! And movement speed as well! Should be bought while you build your blotrk.


Fullbuild




First item. You need it because of the LS, which makes you sustain lane better, plus the AS. The active is always good for kiting and getting the advantage.

Lots of AS and and crit chance. This item is good with Statikk Shiv, even tho the passive damage does not stack anymore!



I like to get both Statikk Shiv and Rapid Firecannon since they give so much AS, crit and additional sweets.

Get this item late-midgame or lategame. You will most likely meet some heavy tanks, and some extra armor penetration might always get in handy.



Get the furor enhancement if you are in the lead. It will give you a burst of movement speed every time you autoattack.


Defensive items




This item gives you a bit armor and MR. If you die, you will also be revived with 30% health and mana. Cooldown 5 minutes.

Gives 450 health and a lot of MR. It also gives 100% base health regeneration plus a shield that blocks enemy abilities. This shield refreshes 40 seconds after not taking dmg from a champion.


Provides a little AD and a lot of health. Passive gives the ability to slow enemies on AA. Great kiting-item, but I don't usually buy it (never lol).

Gives you a lot of AD and a bit MR. You also have an active that removes all debuffs, and grants a small MS-buff for 1 second (50% MS).



Trinket and elixir




In this current meta, all Marksmen buy Farsight Alteration. Use it to scout dragon , baron or a scary bush.

Get this elixir lategame. It gives a little bit AD, and as you deal physical damage, you heal for 10% of that.ยจ

Laning

Early game



Be utterly careful. You do not have too much mobility, and you do not got much damage. Farm and play passive until you get an item or two. Of course, unless you Blitzcrankhits a beautiful Rocket Grab, or your Nami hits a chilling Aqua Prison.

Powerspike level 3, as you got the 3 first abilities. Try to farm, as well as poke. easy to disengage with Tumble

Mid game



You are getting a few items, you got your ult and are always getting stronger from farm, and maybe some kills. If you do not have enemy turret, stay in lane and get good vision, in case of a gank (most people hates Vayne (for a good reason!), so you will most likely get ganked in an attempt to be denied). Remember to use the walls and Condemn wisely. If you hit a stun, it's maybe a free double kill.

Late game



It is now the fun begins. Team fights will happen all the time, and you need to be there for your team.

Teamfights

Always stand in the back, and use your ultimate if you need to either hard engage and deal lots of damage, or disengage to get away from the bastard targeting you. Always try to target one enemy at the time, since it is then you kill the enemy the fastest.

Remember: It is not always needed to press R right away when a team fight starts. Stand in the back and fire away, and if you need to back off or follow the prey, use Final Hour, Tumble when you have to, and kill the enemies!
