Volibear Passive Ability
Introduction
So this build is going to be a Tanky/Dps build. and i will also eventually put in a jungle build as well.
So all that being said i hope that this build will help you on your Volibear journey to greatness.
As another note, i have been playing with different ways of playing Volibear and changed some things up. I will try to keep this as up to date as possible.
Your roll as Volibear if your going by this build is to be a Off Tank or a healthy carry type of champ. Your roll in this guide is to be a major thorn in the enemies side! You are there to tank turrets, secure kills, protect your more squishy friends! Ensure an escape, and most of all to kick some butt! Volibear succeeds in this VERY well.
So you want to know why i picked these runes?
I pick Greater Mark of Desolation for the simple fact that Volibear is a melee champion and being able to pierce threw the enemies armor is always a win, especially nice against tanky toons.
I choose Greater Seal of Attack Speed for the boost of speed to your melee attack which will in turn gets you your Frenzy faster.
then i grab Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction for the cooldown reduction which kinda explains itself. lower the Cooldown the more abilities you get to throw at them.
Then for Quintessence i chose Greater Quintessence of Health more health = more damage from Frenzy

Masteries are pretty self explanatory there are 3 different way you can go in your tree.
Tanky/Dps: I chose to go 21-9-0 because i choose to play more aggressive i like the extra bit of damage you get from the offensive tree.
Tanky: I go 9-21-0 this build is better for actually tanking or for a more defensive dps. either works it just depends on your play style, i tend to use both.
Jungle: when i jungle i like to go with a 0-21-9 this gives you more survivability while you jungle and gank, the reason i go into the utility tree on this one is for the buff duration especially sense they lowered how long they last.

For me to sit here and tell you that this is THE way to build Volibear would be a complete lie. There is never a set way to build a champion, it all depends on the team makeup and how they are building. but here are some ideas.
Mercury's Treads These boots are some of the best in game boots imo. The Tenacity is what sells it, less time CC'd the more time to fight or flee.
Warmog's Armor Now i get this because of how much health it comes with. and sense Frenzy does more damage with more health and same with your Atma's this is a great item.
Atma's Impaler Brings tank and dps at the same time, more armor crit. and 2% of max health goes to damage great item when building healthy.
Frozen Mallet So the reason i did this was Phage goes GREAT with this build due to more health damage and slow. i had triforce but the way this build works is your overall heath. and seeing how a Frozen Mallet will give you 700HP this adds great damage with Frenzy

Defensive Items.
Force of Nature I like to have this because of the Magic resist and HP5 great item. very helpful against AP champions.
Thornmail This is great against AD teams nothing like dishing 30% of their own damage back at them. Perfect against Champs like xin zhao and Tryndamere where they build high AD.
Offensive Items.
Bloodthirster This is a good item, it has AD and life steal which will also help your ability to survive.
Madred's Bloodrazor This can be a great anti tank weapon because it deals 4% of targets max health om damage, meaning the more health they have the more damage you do, and it has armor and some AS to go with it.
Last Whisper I honestly try to stay away from items like this and youmuu's ghoastblade because i would rather go for more AD or Health but this is a great item if you have a very tanky enemy team, great for breaking threw their armor.

The Relentless Storm
Passive: Heals volibear for 30% of his Maximum Health over 6 seconds when he drops below 30% Health. 120 sec cooldown.
Great passive gives you a little more health to get the job done!
Thundering Smash
Volibear gains 45% Movement Speed while moving toward enemy champions. Lasts 4 seconds.
Volibear's next attack deals an additional 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 physical damage and flings the target behind him. 12/11/10/9/8 second Cooldown and costs 40 mana
I like to max this out 2nd because this has a great deal of uses.
1: Throwing those pesky enemy champions into your turret for a kill.
2: Saving a team mate from death. make sure to throw them away from the fleeing TM not to them!
3: Great in team fights. single the enemy out, by picking them from their team and throwing them into yours lol lots of fun!
4: Great for chasing gives you a speed boost to catch back up to your enemy.
Frenzy
Passive: Volibear gains 8% Attack Speed with each attack. Stacks up to 3 times.
Active: When Volibear has (3) stacks of Frenzy, he can bite an enemy to deal (90/140/190/240/290) (+20% of bonus Health) physical damage, increased by (1)% for each (1)% health the target is missing. 18sec cooldown and costs 35 mana.
I max this out first because this is your major damage do'er. stacks up speed for one and then also has an Atma's impaler affect where it takes a percent of health and ads that to your damage, thus the reason we go healthy, the more health the more damage.
Sky Splitter
Volibear deals (60/95/130/165/200) (+60% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies and slow them by 30% for 3 seconds. 11sec cooldown and Cost 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 mana
I max this last. its not a bad skill. slows enemies and also fears minions and monsters great for the jungle, farming, and slowing enemy champs so you can catch them as they run or slow them as you run! good offence or defense skill.
Stormbringer
Volibear channels the storm, causing all basic attacks for (12) seconds to deal (75/115/155) (+30% of ability power) magic damage, which chains to 4 nearby enemies. Costs 100 mana and has a Cooldown 100 / 90 / 80 seconds.
Great skill does a good amount of damage. pretty cool aoe. obviously put a point in any time you can.

Depends on the roll you choose, and really depends on the person.
For a Tank/Dps i would use Exhaust and Flash for picking off carries and chasing. Or even a good escape if you really need.
For jungle i would use Smite for obvious reasons to kill monsters faster. then id pick Ghost or Flash i personally prefer ghost because it can help in chases or even to get around the jungle faster. Flash is good too, more for a quick retreat or gap closer. both nice just preference.
