Please, We, Guide-Maker put in a lots of efforts into sharing our knowledge about league of legends. This site is not about a popularity contest between some nerds. I take time out of my free time to help out players with new characters cause i just like to share my knowledge. Rating a build down and not leaving a comment is just plain mothaf***** ******ed.
I introduce you to My Who let the Kog out by Beren911.
I've seen a lot of extremely good build on how to play AD Kog'maw on Mobafire but none of them were the right fit for me. That doesnt mean i think my build is better. It just fits my playstyle more.
I play him in an unusual way compared to some, try it, that build does wonders for me.
I Garantee you that you will always win against every other Kog'maw out there. I tried Pure Hybrid(Guinsoo, Nashor, hextech gunblade, i had a Bloodrazor too) and faced a Pure AD Kog, i was washed away, he out dpsed me, by far, and we had the same amount of kill. With this build, if you follow it, i garantee you, you will make people add you to their friend list cause you are soooooo awesome - Kog'maw is THAT GOOD).
Pros and con
Insane, but really, insane damage mid-late game
Extremely good harasser
His ultimate has so much range, it goes out of your screen
His range makes it possible to just sit back and watch enemys melt away
Good escaper with his void ooze
Even if you die, you can take someone with you...
His rallying cry (/joke) make teams wins
Easy to mid, dual lane or lane/jungle
Kog Maw Motha****** rulz
I'm serious, a smart AD Kog maw will never need mana, will never over-extend, will just melt anyone away with his BIo Arcane barage.
Icathian Surprise - Upon dying, Kog'Maw starts a chain reaction in his body which causes him to move faster and detonate after 4 seconds; dealing 100 + (25 x lvl) true damage to surrounding enemies.
This is really more useful than it looks; if you get mid-lane, someone will often try to over-extend and kill you cause you are doing so well, they feel they need to disturb you. Call their bluff, melt them, and if, if they kill you, run to them and finish them with it.
THis is alwso useful if someone in late game over-commit and go trough your team to reach you, if you die, its 100% sure you can take 1-2 players out with it, or help your team get an ace.
Dont under-estimate this passive
Caustic Spittle - Passive: Increases attack speed by a %. Active: Kog'Maw launches a corrosive projectile which deals magic damage and add armor penetration for 4 seconds (Removes the passive until available again).
Passive: Increases attack speed by 13/16/19/22/25%.
Active: Kog'Maw launches a corrosive projectile which deals 60/110/160/210/260 (+0.7) magic damage. Activating this ability removes the passive until Caustic Spittle becomes available again.
This is better than it look; At start, when you only have madred razor, you will farm a lot more with it(due to the attack speed bonus). Dont underestimate it. The armor pen is good to, but more often then not you will be out-of-range to use it. Save it for 1 v 1 situation when you really wanna kill someone.
Bio-Arcane Barrage - Kog'Maw's attacks gain range and deal a percent of the target's maximum health as magic damage.
Kog'Maw's attacks gain 130/160/190/220/250 range and deal an additional 2/3/4/5/6% (+0.01) of the target's maximum Health as Magic Damage (Max: 100 Damage vs Monsters). Lasts 6 seconds.
This is it man, thats the future, thats why your grandchildren are going to be playing Kog'maw. That skill makes Kog'maw THE APEX PREDATOR!!!
Insane, but really insane range.
Add Madred bloodrazer, its 11% of their health you take away, per shot, add to this an insane attack speed; Do the math.
Even with NO AP whatsoever, this make you the ULTIMATE killing machine.
Void Ooze - Kog'Maw launches a peculiar ooze which damages all enemies it passes through and leaves a trail which slows enemies who stand on it.
Kog'Maw launches ooze which deals 60/110/160/210/260 (+0.7) magic damage to enemies it passes through.
Additionally, it leaves a trail which slows enemies by 28/36/44/52/60% for 4 seconds.
This is what makes you an escape artist. Pop this and ghost, no one should catch up to you. And enemy will run out of range, pop that baby. Use it for its slow, the damage is not that good
Living Artillery - Kog'Maw fires a living artillery shell at a great distance dealing damage and revealing targets. Additionally, multiple Living Artilleries in a short period of time cause them to cost additional mana.
Kog'Maw fires artillery from a great distance. After a short delay, the artillery falls dealing 80/120/160 (+0.3) magic damage and reveals targets for 4 seconds (deals 150% bonus damage to Champions).
Each subsequent Living Artillery in the next 6 seconds costs 40/40/40 additional mana (Max 250).
Booyah!! As soon as you get this, use it, to farm, to harass, it is so awesome, Just position the shot a little bit behind your target, 9 times out of ten, your enemy will have a brain fart and run right into it. It does great damage even without AP cause of the 150% damage bonus on champions. Use it, all the time, Scout bushes with it.
Be careful tho, it is easy to run out of mana with it, never go beyond 2 consecutive shots.
Some people will call you noob for taking teleport. But i say you are the smartest person alive with this spell. Kog maw doesnt need cleanse, flash, exhaust, ignite; He's always out of range with Bio arcane or his ultimate. And on Attack damage build, he doesnt need clarity.
Ghost+lizard buff+phage(Mallet)+void ooze=uber chasing mecanism
I KNOW ITS WEIRD' BUT IT WORK!!!!!
+30 Attack Damage +40% Attack Speed +25 Armor UNIQUE Passive: On hit, deals Magic Damage equal to 4% of the target's maximum Health.
Enough said, that plus Bio arcane is just plain OVERPOWERED' YESSSSSSSS
Berserker's Greaves +25% Attack Speed UNIQUE Passive: Enhanced Movement 2.
You dont need tabi OR mercury, you dont need swiftness or mobility.
Those boots are the only ones that make any sense with Kog'maw
+45% Attack Speed +30% Critical Strike +20% Dodge Chance +15% Movement Speed
First you need attack speed for maximizing the DPS from Bio arcane.
Second, the dodge adds with your runes, you take it, no question asked.
Moovement speed... This is just awesome with kog'maw.
Crit strike; Weird, but try it out before flaming.
+700 Health +20 Attack Damage UNIQUE Passive: Physical attacks reduce your target's Movement Speed for 2.5 seconds.
Health, damage but... OMG I CANT GET AWAY NOOO KOG MAW IS OPPPPPPPPP
Make people regret coming into range. Frozen Mallet is just too good on Kog maw with his improved moovement speed plus is slow from void-ooze-lizard.
Its like.... i'm at lost for words.
+80 Attack Damage +20% Critical Strike UNIQUE Passive: Critical hits now deal 250% damage instead of 200%.
If you get to buy this item... there is nothing you cannot do, no one you cannot kill, no teamfight you should loose. This+phantom dancer=Lots and lots of crit, boosted crits.
The Black Cleaver
+75 Attack Damage Passive: Physical attacks reduce your target's Armor by 12 for 5 seconds, (maximum 5 stacks).
You will probably never get to that item, but in case you do, i dont really have to explain why its an obvious choice.
SUMMARY OF ITEMS
This looks kind of awkward, no AP' no Nashors or Guinsoo Rageblade. I've been trying a Pure hybrid build (Madred+guinsoo+nashor+hextech), it was doing extremely good damage BUT, i once faced a pure attack damage kog'maw, and got my *** beaten sooo hard, I never went hybrid again.
Some AP cannot hurt, but i garantee you. AD kog'maw trumps AP kog maw in a 1 v 1 fight. And in team fight... i really feel AD kog'maw h as the edge. He never run out of mana... well
I know the crit is weird, but i just feel like you never have ENOUGH crit.
Standard DPS rune build. You can swap the dodge run if you want, there's is a lot of choice to pick from..
I go for Cooldown reduction in both offense tree and in utility. I just want to be able to use bio-arcane as much as possible. WAITTTTTT i know i get the 15% magic pen from offense; Bloodrazor+Bio arcane are magic damage, with that 15% you will get more damage then if you would have taken 2 ArP from Sunder.
You make the team, you are every team dream come true (After Udyr :))
You slow, you shoot from so far away.... its hard to be really bad with kog'maw IMO, you fit feel in every team since your damage output is almost half magic/physical.
Call me supersticious but i ALWAYS do /joke on Kog'maw. Its THE rallying cry of League of legends.
If you fear harassment, get Doran shield, if not, get doran blade.
Last hit, just last hit, dont auto attack all the minions, use your Bio Arcane to Harass/increase range and last hit.Why? You dont want to push the minions too far and make them hug their turret, because you will have no room for kill/chase. It will also open space for you to be ganked... no one likes it.
We are now in Mid game.
If you have Razor, you can always go for Red and blue buff.
Harass with your ultimate, position it right behind them. If you have blue buff it means... infinite Living Artillery.
Mid game ends when you get BLoodrazor.
BTW ; Always get Lizard buff - When you use bio-arcane barrage, it will be impossible to run away from you - SUPER AWESOME FOR KOG' ALWAYS GET IT!!!
I'm not going to describe exactly how i play him, i'm just going to give guidelines.
1. Out-range everyone, that means, dont get stupid and dont charge in, you charge in if you die to get max damage with your passive.
2. Always farm, always farm, always farm. You farm as much as Yi, use your Ult to farm, void ooze(in late game). You need lots and lots and lots of money.

If you farm as much as you are supposed to, the other team wont see your big-*** dps coming, they wont see you coming, and they wont focus you. That is what you need. You need to catch them by surprise.
People dont expect kog'maw to be awesome, trust me. But if you farm as much as you can, you will come down on them like a big sack of bricks.
