Introduction

Hello everyone! Today I'm bringing you a Twisted Treeline guide to the grandmaster at arms; Jax! For those of you new to Jax here is some quick info. you need to know about him before you play him effectively. Jax is classified as a melee, fighter, and duelist. He is adept at killing targets one at a time while also taking a lot of damage from surrounding enemies. The way I build him will allow you to literally jump into the thick of battles and come out on top with your high sustain and DPS. Because of this Jax is arguably the best 1v1 fighter in the game!

I like to get my Counter Strike at level 1 because it basically allows me to avoid 1.5 seconds of damage in a level 1 team fight and then potentially stun their whole team, which will usually net a kill.

* only max q before w if you feel you need a lower cool down escape ability
Tips:

+ If you can run up to your opponent and attack them do so in order to not waste your Leap Strike ability
+ Try to activate your Empower right after an auto attack because this will reset your attack timer
+ You can activate Empower before using Leap Strike to do damage more quickly but this is not recommended
+ Don't be afraid to pop your ultimate at any given moment, it has a decently low cool down and will often save your life

Pros/Con

Pros

+ Short Cool downs
+ Ability to dodge auto attacks and reduce Aoe spells damage
+ Extremely versatile
+ Hard to build against because he is hybrid
+ Can quickly enter and escape fights with q
+ Very high move speed (base 360)
+ Overall easy champ to play

Cons

- Melee, vulnerable kiting
- Countered by hard Crowd control
- Average early game
- Very item dependent

Items

Starting items: Boots and Doran's Blade - unless my team is squishy and I need to tank in which case grab Ruby Crystal which will build into an early Phage

Core Items: Bilgewater Cutlass, Hextech Revolver, and either Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads - The cutlass allows to chase down kills with its slow proc and gives you the option to sustain some jungle creeps for extra gold.

Mid Game: Hextech Gunblade and Guinsoo's Rageblade - At this point in the game you are very strong and can basically win any 1v1 fight. (unless there is a fed tryndamere or opposing Jax) Try to engage in as many fights as possible during this phase because you are the strongest during this time.

Late Game: Iceborn Gauntlet or Trinity Force - Buy the iceborn gauntlet if the enemy team is primarily AD, and get the trinity force if you need more damage. However, if your losing teamfights at this point its best to buy a defensive item then come back to a Trinity Force or Iceborn Gauntlet to top your build off.

*may not be much Magic resist in this example build but the bloodmail is meant to survive the chunks from mages until you can get up close and personal with them
