Introduction

Welcome to my guide regarding Riot's newest champ (as of creation of the guide), Lulu, the Fae Sorceress.

At the time of creation, there aren't many viable builds for Lulu as anything other than a support, but I'm here to explain that aside from her great non-heal support role, there are two more roles she excels at.

One is her jungle roll, which may be explaiend in another guide, but for now, we're going to discuss an offensive roll.

Before we get anywhere, do NOT build her AP carry, she is terrible this way, due to her passive amongst other things, her naturally beast build should be AS/ON (Attack Speed/On Hit)

Happy Lulu-ing!

Runes

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush

Considering Lulu is an AS/OH, there are a number of combination of runes you can build, but personally I believe considering how offensive her build is, and how slow her movement speed is, it's only natural to use defensive runes.

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed
I have selected 3 movement quins, as a major flaw is her movement speed, of course her W can be used on herself to increase this, but her W isn't always off cooldown, and even then, is it really enough? Probably, but better to be safe than sorry!

Greater Mark of Critical Chance
Your AS will be maxed, you've got some defense, all you really need now is some offense, and by offense, I mean the /chance/ to rip your opponents using criticals.

Greater Seal of Armor Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
As for the other two sets of runes, magic resis and armor runes work great providing that little bit extra defense to help sustain long enough to do your job!

Items

Now, as you can see, there are a LOT of items.
Surely by now you've realised that this is a complete build, in the EXACT order I build assuming it's a PERFECT game, while the order doesn't matter on the little items (that build into the proper build), I still prefer this way. Although, it will change game to game depending on how the game goes.

I feel the more information I provide, the better, so there we go (:

I will edit this guide soon discussing situational items, or other ways to build AS/ON Lulu.

Item Sequence

Phantom Dancer 2800

Boots Health Potion Health Potion Health Potion

Why exactly do we start with "boots3"?

Well, Lulu is known for her poor movement speed, so boots definitely straight off the mark, and with the few gold we have left, and her lack of ability to sustain with her abilities health wise, health potions are the best bet. They allow you to farm longer, harrass more etc.

Stinger
We build stinger BEFORE finishing off our Berserker's, because while the movement speed is nice, we need to buff that AS as quick as possible to help farm, to help complete the build quicker. We don't need to be running around the map like crazy. W also provides for movement speed. The CDR also helps harass quicker, and support our lane like crazy.

Berserker's Greaves
We now finish off the boots for even more AS, and of course the movement speed ties in nicely with the Quins and W.

Malady
We have a lot of AS, but we're not exactly hitting high amounts, so right now, our role is sustaining, farming and pushing that turret. You will easily have the highest AS in the game, whilst not hitting INSANE damage on champions (still high), you will be able to get rid of that first turret the first chance you get (i.e. when opponent champ(s) leaves lane).
Your Malady helps by giving you some AP so that along with your auto attack, you can harass with Q more effectively. Your Malady also reduces enemy Magic Resis, meaning that while oyu don't have insane AP, you will still hit fairly high with your Q. More AS can't hurt too, GG turret.

Ionic Spark
A fairly new item, but a great one at that.
You are pretty squishy, so the health is definitely great.
But what we are really after here is the ability to farm EVEN QUICKER, and to attack from a longer range.
This build revolves around OH effects. Every fourth hit, you will cast a lightning, hitting nearby minions and champs for 110 magic damage. This means farming is easier, last hitting is easier, and you can fourth hit a nearby minion, leading to a chain-effect on nearby champions.
You can harass from a distance in which they can't attack you, but you can attack them.
This is extremely annoying for the opponent early game, because 110 magic damage every fourth hit only takes a few times before they're dead. You will probably even get a kill without trying.

Nashor's Tooth
A generic item for more Hybrid or AS build. We have increased abiltiy power for our Q, our shield, and even more attack speed. I don't want to sound arrogant but the ability to push a lane is just insane now. If you can't get kills, push the enemy out of their lane and wipe out a turret or two. If you haven't fed any of the enemy champions, you can most likely win the game by pushing alone. You also get CDR, which as mentioned before, quicker farming, more support etc.

Madred's Bloodrazor
Some additional defense to help counter your squishiness, additional attack to help with your OH effect, MORE attack speed, and finally, the icing on the cake, an amazing OH effect.
Each time you auto attack, along with all your other effects, you hit 4% of their (opponent) maximum health, in magic damage. This is great against all champs, but more-so important against champions with high HP. Madred's helps for shredding down tanks, especially ones like Sion and Cho-gath.

Phantom Dancer
Movement speed to help counter Lulu's big flaw, being slow. Attack speed to finish off your 2.5 attack speed, and critical, just to help with those big burst damage single attacks.

Skill Explanation

Pix, Faerie Companion
Lulu's passive is actually that good.
Her auto attacks are followed up automatically by three additional smaller attacks (4 attacks per auto attack). So each auto attack deals extra damage, it looks really cool as well. But hey, visual appeal won't win games, or will it? (tbh scare people off aha).
It's great for last hitting, and harassing with your decent auto attack range (as you are a ranged character). It levels up nicely, and blends/ties in great with your OH effects.

Tips/Hints

Glitterlance
Your bread and butter really, two beams are fired out from Lulu and Pix.
This skill has poor aim unfortunately, poor range etc. It will take some time to get good with it. However, if you can MASTER it, it's really great, you can shoot two beams as mentioned earlier, in any direction you want. Great for double kills or trying to attack seperate targets. I've been in a few situations where I've been 1v2ing, and I'm on low HP, they're both on low HP, and I'm not sure what to do, because I know if I kill one, I'll die also. With this, you can score a double kill and come out on top.

Tips/Hints
  • Using your E on a champion or minion allows for Pix's single beam to come from that location. Meaning your Q's range is increased dramatically. It's great to put on a minion and go hide in a bush, that way you can attack while hidden, and also attack without being attacked yourself.

Whimsy
Whimsy is just amazing. You can either increase your own ability power and movement speed, which yeah, pretty good, but normally you'd want to use it on an opponent. It makes them unable to deal damage for a few seconds. This is great for running away, turning tide in battle, or securing kills.

Tips/Hints

Help, Pix!
This ability sets your assistant Pix, to assist a fellow team member. Pix will follow them for a while, shielding them from damage. Of course, you can also use this on yourself. An itneresting utility of this, is that Pix if on an enemy, can see everything your enemy can. This means that #1, free temp ward, and #2, you can fire Pix's Q from futher away.

Tips/Hints
  • A function of E is the utility, it allows the enemy you targeted to be
followed by Pix, meaning you have constant watch of what you do.
  • You can shoot out Pix's Q (your Q is shot twice, once from you, once from pix), meaning you can gain insane range on your Q. Secondly, you can aim your Q when your E is locked on, to help aim it better, from a futher distance. This is definitely the most important factor of your E, and the only reason you should consider it early game.
  • You can use this ability to help check for ganks. If you see one champion running off into the bush, and you feel he might be tryign to lure you. Chuck this ability down, and you can see what he sees for 7-ish seconds, thus seeing if his/her team is there.

Wild Growth
Your ulti has two functions. One, it makes whoever you use it on (yourself or ally) really big, so it's entertainment value alone is worth getting. But more seriously, it recovers X amount of health, alllowing for sustainibility. It has a low CD as well. Also, when the unit is 'big', all enemies around are slowed constantly for X amount of seconds, great for running opponents, especially when combined with your Q etc. Oh, did I mention when it is used all opponents around get knocked up, meaning you can attack them without being atttacked back for a few seconds? Useful for running away also, not just winning fights.

Pix, Faerie Companion
// short skill explanation here
// followed by a more in-depth explanation of the ability

Glitterlance
// Why I do/don't put points in this skill early
Your Q, your main harassing ability. Naturally most champions max their Q first, but not always of course. Your Q allows 2 beams to be shot out, one from you, one from pix. This should be maxed as soon as possible for a number of reasons. You want high damage output, yes, but more importantly you can use it to slow. This can be used to harass, to save yourself (as you can shoot it while running quick comfortably), or to save your teammates. It's quite cheap mana-wise as well.

Whimsy
// Why I do/don't put points in this skill early
Whimsy is just insane, it allows you a few seconds peace. What I mean by this is that, it turns your opponent into what seems to be a squirrel, meaning they can't attack you, or use any ability. Basically a few seconds to rip your opponent down. This is great for Lulu because whilst you hit high, you're squishy. Problem solved.
NOTE: They can still move around, so be sure to open with a Q to slow them down.

Help, Pix!
// Why I do/don't put points in this skill early
You'll notice that I don't like E.
Whilst a decent ability, not very important early game.
Shielding 80 damage on yourself or your ally isn't too great, well, that's a little bit
of a lie, it's still useful, but I believe the damage and utility gained by
investing into Q and W more outweigh E.

Q provides longer slows, lower CD, more damage etc, whilst W provides for instant
higher AP, increased movement speed, which allow for high early game CC, allowing for
early game kills, which can provide for quicker items, thus outweighing an additional
80-shield.

Wild Growth
// Why I do/don't put points in this skill early
Most ultis are taken as quickly as you can get them, this is no exception. Ability to heal, secure kills and slow enemies is essential. Your ulti provides hard CC/sustainability, so get it as soon as you can!
