Thank you for starting the discussion.

At the moment, this is more a build than a guide. Once I find enough time I will transition this to a more complete guide with fully written-out chapters. The general thoughts chapter I have at the moment is what I will include in that guide.

I updated the general thoughts chapter as well as the various notes on the build with my thoughts about what both Aetheo and MrMad2000 said.

What do you mean by CDR glyphs tend to get the least amount of experience?

If I forgot to address some points you made or didn't make my opinion clear enough, please let me know.

I actually heavily disagree with Aetheo's point. Maxing deadly bloom allows you to have more pressure and trading potential, which is what Zyra is mainly picked for when it comes to the early game. She then transitions into a very bursty pick or peel mage depending on playstyle.

  • Rylai's is a very good item a majority of the time. Zyra needs it mainly for the stats, and the slow helps keep people in Stranglethorns radius incase you cannot land Grasping Roots on them for whatever reason. Health is pretty important, and combined with Liandry's Torment and Sightstone, Zyra becomes surprisingly tanky, lacking resists or not due to the sheer amount of health. This trio of items also makes her damage spike incredibly high to the point where she can 100-0 bruisers.

  • Supports in the early game usually have some sort of specialty, such as Janna with peel and utility, Leona with engage and early game dominance with her CC. The list goes on. Zyra excels at pushing, poking and zoning. By maxing deadly bloom you become a huge poking threat. You can zone and always win short trades with a Q+W+AA combo.

    This is a build, not a guide. Builds are meant to just go through runes, masteries, items and ability ranking order. That's all. That is why the cheatsheet exists. It's a quick overview of the build. If there's a large written part going over other strategies regarding that champion, that the cheatsheet doesn't offer, then it's considered as a guide.



Regarding The Build
  • I heavily dislike the rune setup. Scaling CDR glyphs are weak on supports because they tend to get the least amount of experience. Scaling armor is the same. Health/Armor seals combo would be much better.
  • I prefer 0/18/12. If you do go 12/18/0 go Double Edged Sword and Natural Talent .

    Taking Grasping Roots (E) second is
asking to be jumped in on. A .75 second snare with no damage or slow follow-up for at minimum until your Q comes up is free kills for a good botlane
The build needs to have a more detailed guide, specifically on how to use the abilities.
Building Q first is a dangerous proposition: Basically saying that you expect to burst the enemy down enough for your partner to kill them, regardless of their state of cc
Rylai's is a power spike for a completely different reason than the AP: it lets you ignore your melee plants. A good Zyra player can often switch this item out by using melee plants well
