The best part is, I've now won 3 matches while using smite/promote instead of "regular spells."
If you pick some hard CC bot lanes, you can take the tower really fast and then start roaming to get kills in other lanes.
It's surprisingly effective. Especially if you both take the buff to it.
You push stupidly fast and, early game, it's hard for them to push it back because of the defensive stats it has.

Heal, Teleport, Ghost, Flash, Exhaust, Ignite, Surge, and Clairvoyance are all less situational, and all have more potential than Promote.
It's like the argument that Ashe is a good AD carry pick because she CAN be played successfully.

1 of which was all random champions in which I played Vlad and beat out an Ahri mid. One of which we had jungle Karthus who had never jungled before. 3rd match we had 2 randoms and they were completely skeptical of how well it was going to work.
Their jungler in the last game, GP. Our jungler, didn't exist.
Until proven otherwise, this is a perfectly good strategy.

Ashe is cool, if you have so much damage in your team that you don't hardly need the DPS from an AD carry.
Promote is cool, if you have so much damage/other stuff in your champs that you don't need real summoners :P
