you use a different definition of run on to me, I define run on as a sentence that is grammatically correct in being longer than the average sentence length, and can be grammatically correct either shortened or in the full form. Also it is generally considered a stylistic error, as you said, what I call run on sentences aren't what run ons actually are but what I got taught they were. Also run on sentences in the context of this thread are technically allowed, as you said they can be used in literature, a 2 sentence story, by however loose the definition is literature so I don't even know why this argument occurred in the first place.

actually the places he uses commas are completely appropriate and grammatically correct and many published authors use massive run on sentences, also these aren't exactly that long compared to some sentences that can be considered grammatically correct.
