Why is Call of Duty still so popular?

This is as if things were getting worse and worse. There will be a time when civilization won't be possible anymore.
The disturbing thing is that the more industrial, organized, technology dependant and sophisticated we attain to be, the worse we get.
Technology, money, order and material progress are not enough things to prevent us from being barbaric in different ways.
The combination of technology, hedonism, individualism, technocracy and money is NOT making this world any better in human terms.
It's actually detroying it from within. There's no ethical or moral value into always blindly aiming "for more" when there's no reinvigorating spirit inside this social movement.
It's very empty, sad, lonely, greedy and senseless inside. To the point of not recognizing ourselves anymore or the people we love without always looking for an objective way of economically and politically thinking even our deepest social relationships in general.
Hell, without politically and economically thinking our very own existence, essence and duty in this world. With every person only thinking for his/her own benefits, the unit gets lost. We usually hate each other in a way or another because we, deeply from within, hate ourselves and the way we are in today's world.
Hell, what are we here for other than to blindly pursue power, money, consumerism, techniques and technologies? The more we aim for in a greedy and predatory way, the more aimless we actually get as humans and society in general.
It's no longer possible to talk to someone without being cynical, wearing a mask, being economically and politically objective, always looking for situations where we can get more (and the most) out of it even though life and humanity shouldn't be on sale.
The Call Of Duty phenomena is just one of the short end of the stick syntoms of a self-destroying world which essentially aims for nothing and that ultimately only conquers the lonelyness of its own desired "freedom" at all costs.

I honestly don't get the fact that this thread was a joke. Not an actual discussion whether CoD is good or bad (It's kinda bad, to be honest, but it's something people enjoy playing which I personally don't understand, but if you like the game, then play it I mean why wouldn't you do something you enjoy).
It was a rant on CoD for the lulz using Mr. Bean's video as an answer ''Magic *snort snort*''

Pokemon style of gameplay.
MW style (based on mw2 and 3)
You have 9875983522956278538 Challenges to do, 11x(70 or 80) lvls to get where you reset your challenges all the time...
So you get sucked in.
It is easy to play... try going to CS1.6 server without any expirience in it and you will probably end up with negative stats :P MW is newb friendly and even if you suck bigtime... you will get something out of it.
It looks good, despite year 2002 engine...
And most of all...
HUGE PLAYERBASE. You saw sheep votes on MOBAFire it works the same for playerbase. If there wouldnt be as many players there the game would simply die... but as ppl buy it even only for single player expirience...
bla bla bla...
