The guys I play with don't have a reliable tank and I just got 1350IP. I know Taric is supposed to be tanky/support, but how do the other champs at that tier work out in terms of survivability?

Alistar. He's a great pick at all levels of play because he abuses people when they step even slightly out of position and he is the tankiest champion without items.
The only really tough thing about him is his "Malphite" combo. You can make his headbutt+Pulverize act like a malphite ult but the timing is very strict.

Liking what I'm seeing with him and the fact that he still runs okay if i goof up on items is a plus! I'll pick him up then and play a few games

Adding on to that, he's only tanky because of his ult which also acts as a light QSS because it removes all CC on him.
His passive is a mini ghost that doesn't increase his move speed. It does however deal damage to everything around him.

I've noticed XD He can go down fast if I'm not careful. Though, he survives a heck of a lot longer under fire than Ryze did. I have however, gotten a fair number of early game kills thanks to hedbutt+pulverize. I'm trying to work out whether I want to play him beefy or fast, currently leaning fast. The "gank" boots have been great at diving and I enjoy chasing down people who think they've survived a team fight.

Here are all the options, I know you only have 1350 but...

Alistar as a support/tank is strong with his ultra CC and passive. Also, Amumu is very very strong but at lower levels good luck not having him banned. Rammus is very strong in all aspects and can shut down AD carries really quickly. Shen just got a few buffs that helps him out, I believe is viable again as a tank but he takes some getting used to. There is also Taric as another support/tank, he can heal for a lot and does pretty competent damage to remain a threat also his ult is very powerful now. Last but not least there is Leona, who is probably the best definition of "tank" there is. She takes a lot of damage and has an AOE stun and can lock down the entire team if you use her Q right. She is my personal favorite.

I would go more in depth but I have to get to work! OH NOOOO

Just as a quick heads up -
You don't need a tank. Ever.

Though it seems optimal, top tier teams don't use tanks quite often, especially the EU meta.

Though it's best to have one or two tanky champions (Gragas/Morgana/Lee Sin/GP), you never truly need a full tank!

Yea he is. He's also one of the hardest tanks, IMO, as all of his CC is skillshot based. He gets a ton of damage from building AP though so... yea.

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

He's not really hard...Q is not to hard to predict, and it is big AoE, and your silence is a big AoE in front of you...not skillshots...

Thanks to TRUeLM, Plastictree, Scrax, Xiaowiriamu, foggy12, JahGFX, jhoijhoi, msrobinson, JEFFY40HANDS, Nyoike, MissMaw, and me :) for the sigs!
