Support Yorick is a niche pick.

So we don't disagree Searz.

I think he's niche too, thing is, that if you can get through the lane phase with a strong carry, I personally feel that he's literally the single best support in the game, because he has the highest potential impact as a support.

And since he does have some tools that would make it seem plausible that he -could- get through laning phase in a duo lane, I suggest it as an idea that people should be trying.

However like I mentioned, against Taric and Alistar I have the -feeling- that he's not the best pick.

Granted, I still feel he's worth learning because when he DOES work, I think Yorick would be a borderline free win support, what he would bring your team without even needing gold... So strong.

Support Yorick is all about the potential strength of having your carry go bananas, while maintaining the strength of having a superior, higher impact champion in the solo lane. It's proven that Yorick + mean AD carry crushes faces, and if you can have a legitimate solo to boot... Your opponents could be in for a world of hurt.

It needs more testing but I think it's legit. In the games where it would work, those games could be free win as long as you get through the lane.

Ado, your analysis sorta makes me sad :P

You've effectively described what has proven to work now. I think everyone knows that those champions work at the moment, so nothing you said was wrong...

Except Yorick can sustain himself.

I agree, Yorick is not as strong in the lane as other supports with more direct sustain which can be applied to both members.

He's probably not even as good as Janna at protecting carries.

This is why I mentioned that you'll want to know when and why to pick Yorick as a support.

If the enemy team takes Janna as a support, or Soraka? I think Yorick is a fine choice. I think they'd lack the hard initiate to kill you without a champion like Alistar/Taric.

And again, Yorick wouldn't make for the -godliest- duo laner in the work but I do legitimately feel between his harass and his ultimate that he wouldn't be easy to bully around. Ganking a lane with a carry and Yorick would be risky business. There's a good chance that if the bot lane just sat and fought that yeah one of you will die, but your jungle might show up and suddenly you get 2-3 kills because the fight went super long due to Yorick ult.

Basically, I don't claim he's the best support for lane phase, I know he isn't. If you wanted that just pick the same three supports every game, Janna isn't even ideal for lane phase.

But there are supports like Janna who have enough in their skills to make the lane passable, and then your team benefits from a superior late game with higher impact skills.

That's what Yorick is. He should be considered an investment, that IF you can pull it off, your team is at an advantage later as a result.

I think Yorick ult is better as a single skill than Janna ult and Sona ult when you have a champion like Vayne on your team, so this is why I feel it should be considered.

(Also Vayne Yorick would be a mean lane.)

Interesting to make Ashe a support o.o
I can't really see it working all too well though, cause she get's 0 benefit from building support items IMO - But I haven't seen it yet and she does bring good utility so it might work ^^

That makes better sense aswell, to say he's Niche is probably correct - but even if Niche he seems to be REALLY strong ^^

I think everyone who's considering Yorick support has been saying from the start that he is niche, yes. :P

I suspect you might get zoned n boned by a lane with Taric or Alistar (Just guessing)

Why wouldn't Ashe benefit the same way from CDR and Aegis? :P

More volleys for more CC, more hawkshots, more ults, and support items re generally independent from skills... ^_^

Well, I don't know really.. sure CDR can help - but I think with too high CDR Ashe might actually end up with a MANA problem.. xD
And she doesn't have 3 damaging abilities - only 1 thing with base and her AA's which would be hitting for nearly nothing if she was support build.

Taric an Alistar are probably the strongest laning supports atm as far as I know ^^

Do you pick janna or taric because of their devastating auto attacks...?

LOL who gives a **** what kinda dmg she deals, she has a perma slow on one target and an AoE slow and an initiate.

As long as she's tanky she's a fantastic peel and a great initiate with a CV.

Soraka good laner too.

CDR helps ashe smash out her arrows and her volleys in team fights. Shouldn't be any issue with mana if you're playing like a support.

Hmm.. True that but like the slows are great and all - but she doesn't seem to be very strong in lane and I don't think she will be doing that much to make it hard for the enemies to get to your carry. Afterall the slow on frostshot isn't all too overwhelming.

You're rating him much higher than I am duffy.
Yes, his ultimate is amazing, but it's not enough to make him a good support.
He's decent (thus calling him niche) in my opinion.

Ashe on the other hand seems incredibly good. I need to look into her some time (even if I don't play support much).
"Blizzard spoke thus; Thou shalt not BM. And the players replied Nay, I shall Play my hand with Lethal already on the board. And so Blizzard sent unto them this Brawl of Yogg, As a lesson for their sins of Pride and Greed, for he is the Prophet of Madness and RNG. On that day, the tavern descended into an era of chaos and darkness, until the weekend passed and everyone forgot all about it. Amen. Book of SMOrc, Verse 20, Chapter 4." - Feam T

Correct, I am.

I actually think he's on par with Ashe or maybe potentially better than Ashe. :3

I think they've both got good support potential however. ^_^
