I recently made a post asking about the state of Shyvana right now, and since then I've really been trying to focus on what about her makes me like her, and see if any other champions fit those criteria that I should try out. Admittedly, I'm a low ELO player, but these are the reasons I've been able to have success on Shyvana:

1. Can keep up in CS. Let's face it, people down in my brackets don't CS well, and alot of the time, there is free-farm on the map to be had. Shyvana farms SO easily with her skills. Combine this with the fact that she has no mana (never has to go back because oom) and I find that even from the jungle, I can usually secure the most farm in these games, and use the gold/item advantage to dominate mid-game fights.

2. This ties into the first point, but given that she is resourceless and can zoom around the map with her W, I can ALWAYS be where I am needed, especially after getting a minimal amount of sustain. With other junglers, I often feel torn between trying to help lanes and farm jungle. With Shyv, I seem to be able to do BOTH with time to spare.

3. I love the initiation of her ultimate. I know her ulti gets criticized alot, but few things single your team "HEY WE'RE GOING IN" than a giant dragon leading the way. And enemies love to bunch and focus the dragon, while im just burning them with W/E and sunfire. I've come to understand I play better with tankier champions - my positioning is probably subpar for squishies, I like to be able to jump in the middle of a fight and just be a constant pressure on the enemy.

4. I can build tanky and still feel like a huge damage threat. Even when I build almost full tank with only one offensive item, I feel like I have the potential to duel alot of people, and I can even gib the enemy ADC 1 on 1 when i get the chance. Won many teamfights just diving straight onto the ADC and zoning her completely from the fight. When I've played other initiators, I mostly feel like after I initiate I'm just hoping team can follow up with enough damage on priority targets.

So I dunno if there's anything else like this really. I play Jarvan IV, and that is probably the closest I've been able to come, but I have trouble keeping up in CS like I do with Shyv, and I just don't seem as much of a damage threat when I build fully tanky on J4 as I do on Shyvana. Vi was also recommended, but in my experience you have to really choose to go either tankier or more damage on her. Haven't been able to do both.

Great farming, roaming, initiation and tankiness while dealing a lot of damage?

First thing that pops in my head is Vi

Aatrox, maybe? He doesn't roam as well as Shyvana, but he farms like a god.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! Might try out Sejuani. I'm not the greatest at skillshots for her ult, but I hear its forgiving. I guess my problem with Vi is I like having that feeling in teamfights of "oh haha you're focusing me....and I'm not gonna die" I never feel like Vi gets to that point. Hm never played Aatrox - am I right in thinking he's damage more than a tank?

He's a lifesteal tank. He never dies by punching you to death.

Besides, he should be tanky enough with items to survive being CC'd and resume the not dying.

This is probably a stupid question - but I was wondering about the general strategy in using Aatrox's Blood Thirst/Blood Price. I'm sure it is situational, but is the general idea that you would use it for damage when you are >50% health, and then as soon as you are below 50%, switch over to regen?

Well, it's pretty much up to you. I just usually go ham with it and turn it onto Blood Price when I go for the kill. Maybe they're tanky and I want to sustain through damage, I keep it on Blood Thirst. If you're just farming, then I'd keep it on Blood Thirst.

Basically, any time you're not fighting an enemy champion or there isn't a need for you to clear waves/creeps as fast as possible, you should want to keep Blood Thirst on.
