olaf is like the most blue reliant jungler is like the most blue-reliant jungler in the game. You need mana and cdr to clear fast on him.

True. But I've tested it starting both buffs and didn't find much difference, especially starting with Doran's Blade and W. Also, CDR blues. With leash+ Smite at first buff things go really fast and I let myself get lower HP to increase AA and kill things faster, at least for the first clear. From then on I'm levelling Q and things get even faster.

If you start machete+5 and start Q then starting Blue is indeed much better.

I've played Olaf 4-5 times in the jungle recently and I must say, starting blue makes a huge difference in my hp when I finish my clear. When I started red, I ended up with 1/3-1/2 hp after blue. When I started blue side, I finished Red with 2/3-3/4 hp.

All times I started D-Blade.

Down side is when he doesn't have blue, then he gets mana starved and if he misses things go very differently.

Its also game dependent. Shen can give you a stronger leash on blue than say a Vlad. Use your best judgement. I personally always start where my adc is now because I'm either playing Eve or I'm just going to farm and I want to conserve as many health pots as possible.

I don't want to see people complaining when mid doesn't leash (which they shouldn't) and a vlad contributes 150 damage to your first buff before heading to lane.

i start doran's blade and start q when starting blue-buff is possible, i start w when i'm forced to start red.

@lasty on some champions you want mid to leash for you if bot doesn't have leash power enough(see: shaco)

Shaco needs help on leash?
That's a serious question though.
Usually when I see a Shaco jungle he doesn't want a leash.....

I never play him so wouldn't know.

you can do 2 things that are both really strong if you get a strong leash:
1: Put boxes on red and your bot/mid+bot damages the buff so it gets finished by the boxes and then they take the small ones, walk to enemy blue - box it over the wall and smitesteal the buff from the enemy buff and just take control of the enemy jungle.
Against junglers prone to invades i can sometiems get every buff(yes, every single one) against even diamond junglers.

2: Get cdr blues, plant boxes at your blue, go to red and ask top for a leash for red-buff too since you'll be there at 1:55
