That bloody egg has made me feel stupid numerous times. And for some reason they are very good at hitting that stun. I find it hard to successfully gank an Anivia lane, even if they have no vision at all(or they just don't care).
I don't see many Anivias though.
What's the point of this thread and what do you want to read about?

********'s a pretty good fertilizer
I guess I should say something here. So I had 131 ranked Anivia games last season with 4.32 KDA and over 4000 skillscore from Silver 1.
Personally I think her biggest problem is roaming or lack of ability to do it. In teamfights though, she is amazing, no questions asked. I would say she's pretty safe pick and currently can deal well with assassins. Ziggs being maybe biggest problem, Gragas can be though also.
On bonus side she works very well against Kayle for example and I would also say that if enemy has several melees(Riven/Kha etc) Anivia is amazing pick.
She was changed recently which was sad. They helped her with mana costs on few things which is nice. In the other hand they took away her ability to aa poke effectively. Her missile speed is currently so fast that you can't aa and get back behind minions before it hits. Some argue that it made last hitting easier, but most Anivia players were probably used to it already. Lack of aa poke is problematic against matchups like Fizz or Zed.
"And for some reason they are very good at hitting that stun."
-That's kinda requirement for survival as Anivia. Stun and Wall, if you can't use them right forgot about the bird. It's all mind games though. So slow moving that it tricks you up. ;)

-This is very true. I have seen 2. Ever. One very good, one very bad. Once I first picked Twisted Fate and got Anivia against me. She ended up something like 24/0/5, first guy I every believed that was Diamond smurf when he said it.
Second time I was at cham select and was planning to play the bird. And their firstpick picks it. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO AMAZED AND MAD AT SAME TIME. I picked Orianna and managed to shut her down pretty hard killing her 4 times in lane.
But yeah as Anivia it's all about controlling the battlefield. I don't recall single champ who could do it better. Aoe stun, big aoe slow that deals damage and FCKING wall. What more could u ask? Nuke? You got it. I feel like poke + assassins + Vi are hardest thing to deal with her while 4 melee's with lack of strong gap closers(mundo/volibear/thresh/kayle) and no escape adc(Jinx/Twitch/Vayne)(expect Sivir, spellshield :S)would be wet dream for her.

Her wall can be a real ***** to face up against, her stun and ultimate can be devastating with huge burst from her E, so she does have potential to be very deadly and full of CC and some good damage.
That said, I feel like there is a wide range or Anivia skill which someone can have.
By that I mean, you can pretty much either be absolutely trash with Anivia, or extremely strong, I rarely see an in between.
When I see Anivia in loading screen it's basically "oh she is either gonna rape us or feed us" never in between
