I'm a part time Streamer (https://www.twitch.tv/wileniuss <3) who enjoys playing off-meta supports with friends. League was made to be fun and experimental, being a Meta Slave is not fun, going the same items as everyone else does everygame is boring and just gets repetetive super fast. That is why I often pick strange champs as support, to try and make them work even they really shouldn. That being said Veigar actually IS a very good support. Maybe I just haven't been poking a lot but it feels like he has good mana sustain in lane. His poking is nice + everytime you poke with your abilities you gain AP. This means you only grow stronger and stronger >:)
