Illaoi isn't to hard early. Just push the wave and trade whenever your counterstrike is up and you should beat her. However level 6 you have to be careful about all inning her because she can wreck you with her ult. Just take small trades using you passive plus q/w. Vs her I get my 2 Doran blades > Executioners culling > Botrk > Boots > Titanic > Tri force.
Nasus
I suggest grabbing a long sword and pots and trying to kill him level 1. Ignite too if you want. You should either try to get an early level 1 or 2 on him or just let him push and then try to all in him. If you let him farm at tower he will get big fast. I suggest getting your double Dorans then Merc treads to reduce his wither. Whatever you do, don't fight him during wither unless you are way ahead. The first core item should be Gunblade. After that get Tri force then Titanic.
Riven
I think you beat riven pretty hard in lane. Start Dorans Blade and trade around your counter strike. Make sure you keep your distance when your counter strike is down. Get 2 Doran blades and then Tri force. Make sure you don't Q to Riven. Walk up to her aa/e/q/e/aa/w. It is important to get your counterstrike going as soon as you start trading with her so if she stuns you she can't get bonus aa damage on you while you are stunned. You should then jump to her if she runs and stun her then aa/w.
Fizz
Fizz I think is pretty easy. Level 1 you can do Jax's standard counter strike trade but be careful if he starts his Trickster. Throughout your fights with him just try to get him to trickster then pop your E as he comes down and sht on his face. Level 6 make sure you ult as soon as he ults you. I like to build my double Dorans vs him and if I'm getting ganked a lot I'll go Merc Treads. Otherwise I go Tri force > Mercs.
Irelia
Irelia is a pretty easy match up. After the first few levels I usually will walk up to her aa/e. After she stuns me I jump to her and stun her and run her. Like riven you don't want her to auto you during her stun. Go double Dorans > Tri Force > Mercs. If you get big you can easily bait out her stun mid game and dive her. If you are having close fights with her make sure you position so that she can't ult thru you and your minions otherwise she will regen a ton.
Trundle
Fairly easy match up I think. Make sure when you trade that you get your E off before he bites you so you can avoid the slow and damage reduction. At level 6 you always want to pop your ult as soon as you all in except vs Trundle. Make sure you wait until trundle ults your then Ult immediately. Since he is so easy I prefer to start long sword and rush Tri-force ASAP.
Hecarim
Hecarim is a pretty easy match up I think. Just try to avoid short trades with him. You generally want to create some distance, get your passive up, then jump on him with conter strike and get as many autos as you can. If you have to pop your stun to stop him from running that's fine. Level 6 you should beat him pretty easy with your standard passive+Q+W combo. If I'm even I'll get the 2 doran blades then Botrk. But if I'm ahead I'll rush Botrk and then go Tri force.
Renekton
I start Dorans Blade and I try to do my standard level 1 trade while popping the potion. I look to get a level 2 kill if I can. When trading with renekton make sure you walk up to him, pop counterstrike as soon as you get in melee range so he can't stun you. Then auto him as much as you can and use q to make sure you stun him. Be careful when your counterstrike is on cooldown. He can wreck you if he gets his stun off on you.
Graves
I start corrupting potion and farm until level 6. Once 6 I auto attack the minions twice pop leap strike and hit him with an empower then walk away. Rinse and repeat as often as you need to. You should be able to kill him after doing it once tho. I usually get swifties and 2 doran blades vs him. However if I'm super ahead I might just rush phage into Tri force. If I'm behind I might get Gunblade first and Ninja tabi.
Malphite
Malphite can be a fairly hard match up if you don't get ahead early. For masteries go undying grasp and I try to play aggressive in the early levels.I start dorans blade and one pot and I rush Merc treads to reduce his slows as much as possible. I then build tri-force, unless I'm behind and then I'll rush Gunblade.
Darius
I start long sword and 3 pots vs Darius. Whenever my counterstrike is up I look to trade with him and I always keep my distance when it's down unless I know I can kill him. The thing about Darius is he beats pretty much everyone in long fights because his bleed damage is insane. The key to beating Darius is trading during your counterstrike and staying on the inside of his Q so he doesn't heal. If he gets you with the outside of his Q he will heal a lot and you will probably lose the trade. Make sure you run immediately after you stun him so he can't pull you. I go the damage parts of the Tri-Force first because I think it's key to do as much damage as you can vs him as fast as you can. I prefer to run ghost vs him so when I commit on him I can pop ghost q/e and stay on the inside of his Q while I wreck him.
Pantheon
Start cloth armor and pots. Sit at tower and try to cs. Pray your jungle will help you. I usually rush sunfire but if he does something dumb or you get a good gank you can rush tri-force. I would recommend getting the phage portion first for tankiness. At level 6 you can test your strength vs him but be ready to run. Usually best to look for team plays or fight him with your jungler until you get 2 items.
Garen
Garen is pretty simple, make sure you Counterstrike his q damage and you should at least trade even with him. It's better to go the phage portion of the trinity force first vs him for the tankiness. Once ya'll are both level 6 don't fight him if your half hp because his ult is crucial unless you know you can kill him.
Singed
I haven't played this matchup much and the times I have, I have had limited success. I run my standard 18/12/0 masteries, long sword and pots and ghost/ignite. I try to get an early advantage within the first few levels. I feel if you don't kill him or bully him out of lane early you will have a really rough game. My first item vs him is Hextech Gunblade. I feel the active is a short enough cooldown and it gives me enough sustain to run him down and kill him. If you can't get ahead early I suggest playing super safe and waiting for jungle ganks.
Gnar
I run grasp of the undying vs gnar. I start dorans blade and level my q level one. I look to take a long trade with him level after his boomerang is on cooldown. I max my q first vs him and look to harass him whenever if it's off cooldown. Pref wait until he misses his q. Rush ninja tabi - phage - sheen - Triforce and then get your botrk.
Tri-force into Titanic then adapt. Maybe Gunblade first if you vs a really hard match up. I only do it vs panth and singed.
Early Game Trading

Mid Game
Mid Game
Push push push! Make sure you have vision of at least 3 people or have good wards. Only push if you know you can get away or get a tower. I usually buy a control ward every back, try to make sure you always have a trinket to ward hop to so you can escape. If you don't you can run down lane and use minions. But your job is to push as much as possible. Having problems pushing, go to another lane and push or draw pressure then flank a fight. Usually the only time I teamfight before late game is if a fight looks really juicy. Meaning its around even numbers and at least one person is really low. Pref if the enemy team has several low people. Make sure if you do flank a fight pop your ult as your walking up and before you get cc'd or take much damage. If you are joining a fight early you should be able to kill someone quickly. Do that and then move on to the next closest person or get out.
Late Game
Late Game
I usually still try to split push a lot but it's perfectly fine to Teamfight once you have 3 items. Just don't forget to farm in between fights until your full build. It's usually best to shove a lane and then look for a flank or standard fight. I usually fight front to back. Meaning I go for closest people first. With Tri-force/Botrk you do a lot of damage even to frontline champions and this way your carries can free fire. Make sure you don't force anything crazy tho. Pref wait until someone gets out of position or your team makes a catch. On average you want to focus the closest squishest person. If they have a Rengar and Malphite front line you want to kill rengar first and etc. If the enemy frontline is trying to force crazy sht just pop your counterstike and auto them until you need to hop away. It's fine to focus enemy carries if they position bad and don't have a lot of peel. If your vs an ashe adc and leona support as jax you can just jump on ashe and counterstrike leona q stun. Ashe can stun you though so just keep in mind how many people are around.
Ward hopping
Ward hopping
So on a lot of top laners you get the blue trinket once you hit level 9. This isn't the case for Jax. You keep the yellow trinket so you can ward hop. If you aren't familiar with the concept you just drop the trinket and then leap strike to it. Generally during the mid-late game I try to always have a ward on me so if I'm pushing and people try to collapse on me I can ward hop over a wall or just away. Sometimes however it's better to drop in from a common collapse point. When you do that make sure you have minions in your lane behind you that you can ward hop to. Also if you're trying to run down an opponent you can ward hop to them and pop your Botrk. I don't do this often but sometimes you need it to run down a squishy or low hp target.
