Introduction

Hello Guys and welcome to my little Zilean Guide here on Mobafire.com.
I main Zilean since I started playing ranked in Season 5. At this time I was in bronze 3 and couldnt get out of it. Nearly one week before the season ended I picked up Zilean and went on an impressive 20-7 score. I ended up in Bronze 1 that season. In Season 6 i continued playing zilean support. Improving from Bronze 1 to Gold 2-3 in one season felt very good. Season 7 i improved again from g3 to plat 2. After some inactivity i dropped to plat 5. Currently im in my promos to plat 3 again.
Zilean is an support champion that is capable of carrying a game easily as support if he is played right. My story shows that even as support it is possible to get out of bronze as support.

Runes

I dont have any exclusive or innovating runes on Zilean.
I normally run 9 magic pen reds, 9 flat armor yellows, 9 flat ap blues and 3 flat ap quints.
It kinda makes up the early lack of damage due to high item costs.

Items

There are currently two ways of playing zilean.
One way is building him with ap. Thats great for carrying in low elo or if your team lacks damage.
The Utility way is more fore higher elo or when you have some carrys you really need to protect.

Skill Sequence

The Standard Skill Sequence for Zilean is max. Q first, then W and third e.
Skill the ult whenever it is possible.

Pros / Cons

Pros

-Massive AoE Stun
-Powerful Speedup as Engage
-Powerful Slow as Disengage
-The unique ult to revive people
-Good Damage when build AP
-Absurd Utility when played more utility based
-Not much counterplay
-People dont often see him

Cons
-Can get ganked easily in the early game
-Needs some gold to get effective
-You can accidentally steal an potential kill from your carry
-Can only ult one person

Team Work

Your focus in teamfights is not getting you or your carry killed.
Try to stay back and throw your double bombs. U can even go for a triple bomb if you think you can do it. Slow fleeing Enemys, speed up your mates.
Revive only if it is really needed. Dont waste ur ult on a feeder or on a tank. Try to hold it back for your carrys. Only if needed ult a tank if he is needed.
