Against blitzcrank, most you can do in most situations is just standing behind minions with a safe distance between you too, in case he goes for a Flash E play. I recommend aery in this matchup because of the shield it allows you to give to players who have been hooked from a safe distance. Both Spellthieves and Relic shield are good in this case but i prefeer Relic Shield. Get E at lvl 2 to block Q>E combos.
Thresh
Thresh is kinda like blitzcrank but His hook can be avoided with more ease, as it is telegraphed. Aery is also good, but Guardian works too. E lv2 reccomended to stop Q>E combo.
Alistar
Same as Blitzcrank and Thresh. Aery highly recomended, try poking as much as you can level 1 but be carefull after the 1st wave, as you'll die if you get caught. Whenever he engages someone pop your silence under him , so he cant do his whole combo.
Brand
Brand will poke you out of lane. Guardian and Relic shield are best IMO. Whenever he Rs get away from teammates untill it runs out.
Caitlyn
Against caitlyn theres not much you can do. Go relic shield cause you will lose the trade because of her range.
Bard
Bard will 100% outroam you, take the chance while he's away to engage with your Q>E and get a kill or make his ADC recall. Stay away from walls whenever he walks up.
Braum
The Braum matchup depends on how good their bot are against you and your adc. If its Braum and Lucian, DO NOT WALK UP, you will get stunned and die immediately. Go with Spellthieves.
Annie
Annie will kill you if you walk near her o a bush. Relic and guardian are good, as you wont be able to poke her without risking a death
Ivern
This should be a nice matchup. Whenevr he stuns someone pop your E under them, just so if Ivern or any melee allies dash to them they'll be silenced and maybe rooted. Take Spellthieves.
Galio
Pop your silence under galio after he engages with E or R. Stay away from him. Either support item goes nicely in this situation
Janna
Janna will outpoke you in lane. Dont even try as you risk getting hit with a W>Q. Your E can cancel her R though. Relic better, but if you can poke her adc go with spellthieves.
Leona
Leona can be dangerous. Whenever she engages silence her and move away. Shurelyas and Locked are good in this matchup, for the MS and Shield respectively. Both support items are good on this matchup.
Lulu
Lulu is very annoying. Plead your adc to go Anti shield and try to poke her adc as much as you can. Pay attention to Lulu's E, as she can put it on a minion to hit you with an unexpected Q. Both support items are alright but I prefer Relic shielf.
Lux
Lux outranges you, by alot. Go boots of swiftness, as getting hit by her Q spells certain doom. Mikales is also very good. Relic shield is by far better then spelthieves in this matchup.
Malphite
Stay a safe distance away from your team if Malphite is near as a good Malphite R can be devastating. If he's the support try poking him through Levels 1-5 as to complete your support quest ASAP. I prefer spellthieves, but both support items are good here.
Maokai
Carefull of his Saps, and whenever he ults go behind a teammate, as to not get rooted by it. Both support items are good here
Morgana
As long as you dont get hit by her Q, you'll be alright. Poke her as much as you can and pop your silence whenever she uses R. Mikaels is a very good choice here. Spellthieves is best.
Nami
Nami will be annoying. Save flash for bubble and her ult as getting hit by either can allow nami to slow you after. Relic shield recomended.
Nautilus
Huuge hook, hard to avoid, easy to poke though, stay behind minions and poke him. You'r silence wont do much good against him though. Mikaels, Boots of swiftness and Spellthieves should be good here.
Neeko
Neeko is alright. Carefull as her E is empowered when passing through minions though. If you see her start ulting, silence her so she doesnt flash to your team . Either supp item is good here.
Pantheon
Carefull with bushes and silence him if he walks up or after he uses R. Both support items are good here
Pyke
I myself love this matchup, but it depends on how fast you can see Pyke coming. Take E lvl 2. Keep bushes warded as to see him coming. If he starts casting his hook just silence him. Spellthieves and Swiftness boots are good against him.
Rakan
Just E under his W to silence and root Rakan. if you se him running towards you hit your q to slow him down.
Take E lvl 2 and spellthieves is best choice here.
Senna
There isnt much you can do against a good Senna, just try to survive laning phase. Either support item is meh in this matchup, as you wont be able to poke her much and her range makes it hard to get minions. Outisde of laning phase senna shouldnt be a big worry of yours, as you should be behind your team.
Sett
Free lane, just be carefull of Flash E.
Poke him all day, pop your E down if he walks up. Spellthieves Is best option.
Sona
Sona will just be annoying in lane. You can poke her when her passive is not stacked, if it is try to not get hit as it will hurt. Merc Treads are a good choice, but either of the support items work.
Swain
Swain beats you in lane. Guardian , Putrifier and Relic shield are very good options into this matchup. PRO TIP: If you have a minion behind you when he uses his E, the minion will tank the stun for you
Tahm Kench
Avoid getting hit by Tahm's Q. Whenever Tahm uses his W you can either:
1. Put your E on top of Tahm to stop it
2. Put your E on his destination to Silence and Root him.
Either suport item is a good choice.
Taric
Poor Taric cant get a rest. You counter him very nicely. Poke him out of lane and use your E when he walks up. If an ally gets stunned put your E ontop of them so taric cant follow them.
Either support item works but Spellthieves is good for poking!
Vel'Koz
Just as Swain, Velkoz will beat you in lane. Relic shield is a MUST here. Swiftness boots are best as He'll shred through Merc Treads.
You should be looking for a Locked of the Iron Solari for the shield.
Xerath
Just as Velkoz and Swain, He will also outpoke you. Good Ban.
Relic shield and Merc treads will be your friends
Yuumi
Just poke her ADC and silence yuumi whenever she tries to proc her passive.
Zac
You can cancel Zac's E. Other than that just try to mantain distance.
either support item works.
Zilean
Zilean is a skill matchup. Dodge his Time Bombs and try silencing zilean whenever one of his allies is going to die, as to not let him use his R.
Zyra
Zyra is very annoying, as she can poke you from extremely far away, but she is not as strong as you are in team fights, so your plan is to just survive laning phase and out support her in mid and late. Boots of swiftness are great against her as the MS it gives will be good to get out of her R.
Ahri
You can easily deal with Ahri by just dodging her E and making her unable to dash with your E. Its not your job to kill her so try to get away
Akali
Akali will kill you, she dashes way to much for you to do anything. Locket will be your best friend.
Camille
Camille can tank too much for you to deal with her, try to silence her if you see her coming so she cant R you.
If you get R'd by Camille, you will die unless your team responds to it.
Aphelios
You dont need to worry about aphelios, so just generally watch out for whenever he had his White and Red weapons, as he's at his stongest when he's got those.
Ashe
Ashe will be dangerous because her slow makes you an easy target. Make sure to stay behind teammates and buy Mikael's to get rid of her R's CC
Draven
If the enemy locks Draven and any support who can follow up with his aggressiveness, you lost lane regardless of what you do. Try to live through lane phase and roam to get other ahead.
Ekko
If you see Ekko running towards you make sure to place your E and try to get to a tower of with your team, so he cant use his R to get away.
Elise
Silence Elise if she dives, she will die if she cant use her spider form E. Stay near your team and buy Mikaels for the Cleanse and MR
Ezreal
Dodge Ezreal's skill shots and you should be fine. Silence him if your jungle ganks you to stop him from using his E
Fizz
Same as Elise but more dangerous, if he dives you use your E to stop him from using his invulnerability to get away. Whenever he hits R on you or an ally place your E under them to stop fizz from going into them.
Irelia
Silence Irelia and she'll probably die. Dont get hit by her R's edges.
Jhin
Try to not get poked, as he'll deal more damage whenever your health is low. You should be able to keep a safe distance between you and Jhin at most times. Swiftness boots are good for dodging his W
Kai'Sa
If she uses R into you or an ally, try silencing her and hitting her with Q, while you will probably die, she will too
Katarina
Katarina will kill you most of the time if she reaches you, so its your job to stop that from happening. Whenever a fight starts save your E for Katarina, and whenever you see her going in with R, silence her and hit your Q to ensure a root on her. She will most likely die from this.
Lee Sin
If you see Lee use Q2 into someone or wardhop behind you or a teammate silence him to evade an insec from him.
Lucian
Hardest ADC to deal with by far, his burst is too strong . Surive laning phase and try grouping up against him. If you manage to silence him in a fight he will probably die, as he is very ability reliant.
Miss Fortune
Dont stay behind low hp minions, cancel her ult with your E.
Overall not too bad.
Relic shield is a good option, as poking miss is very hard.
Mordekaiser
While you can cancel morde's R with your E, the timing is too hard. You can heal allies in his R.
Warwick
Cancell his ult with E. If you get hit by Warwick's ult, good luck.
Zed
While zed seems like a hard matchup on paper, its not too bad. If he uses R on you, preemptively use your E on yourself and (if you can) flash away or go under a tower. He will be rooted and wont be able to use abilities to get the full use out of his R.
Aphelios
I like playing with Aphelios, he makes the laning phase simple. He has a good long range attack, to let him not be poked too hard bby their botlane, can have sustain on his own, while also having a CC you can follow up on with Equinox!
Ashe
Ashe is kinda like Aphelios, but can harass better since her W is very annoying. Follow up on her R and whenever she slows take the chance to use your Q for free healing!
Caitlyn
Follow up on traps with your E. Lane shouldnt be too hard because of her high range.
Draven
This one is kind of a worse Lucian. If he manages to stay put for a while you will survive laning phase, as his E grants you a lot of safety, but you cant do much to aid him in early fights, other than heal him (something Draven already does good enough on his own)
Graves
Graves is a very fun champion to have on your team, his smoke screen is perfect setup for Q>E and he's close range aa's make it perfect for a Shurelyas build. He's also very good at keeping you alive cause damn he hits like a truck and is quite menacing to enemies.
Jinx
I find myself finding this matching annoying. Jinx's quite weak if the enemy bot and jungle decide to jump into your tower, as she's quite weak early game and her abilities... arent quite good with you. Follow up Jinx's flame chompers with your E.
Kai'Sa
Kaisa is a good enough matching, as you two will probably win laning phase if you both play it right, but the fact her kit relies on diving enemies with her R makes it a hard carry to support.
Kalista
Kalista is just a big off when playing with. Since you are really squishy, and your AA's are extremely slow, and honestly not worth the risk of going that close to the enemy carry and support, 2 of Kalista's abilities are pretty bad. Most a Kalista can do for you is R you out of a bad situation.
Karthus
Karthus as an adc, has the same objectives as you do as Soraka, survive the early game and be a nuisance late, only he does it with big damage rather than excessive healing. You should be able to play a safe lane with him!
Kog'Maw
While I love kog for being the cute void doggy he is, he is not very good as he suffers from the same issues Jinx does. But if you manage to get him ahead oh god you'll be having a ton of fun
Lucian
Lucian is an okay matchup. As long as you can keep him healthy your laning phase should be easy, as he does more than enough damage to kill at all stages of the game, while being able to disengage fights easily without the need of Shurelyas.
Miss Fortune
Miss is a ton of fun, her strong poke lets you stay safe while she does most of the work!. Whenever you see her R someone, pop a nice E under them, so they cant dash or flash out of it for an easy kill!.
Samira
Same downfalls as Draven, but offers way more safety with her W.
Senna
Senna just wants to scale, so help her with it. Consider going relic shield to help her get more souls. Her W, E and immense range should offer some safety in lane, while also helping you support with her R.
Sivir
Sivir can use her Q to deal a lot of damage while staying a safe distance away. Her R also helps you get away from a tough spot, overall a good matchup for you!
Swain
Swain is a very fun matchup to have. Free stuns to follow up on while also having quite a bit of sustain on his own. Follow up on his E and stay near him.
Tristana
Tristana is just strong. she can also use R to get people away from you, if she's nice enough. Play aggressive whenever she engages with her jump or bomb.
Vayne
Vayne just wants to chill lane, while also making it through. Your main objective is to let her do that. As long as you manage to let her scale you should be doing AOK. Follow up on her E if it goes against a wall!

Soraka is an easy support to pick up, while still being very usefull due to how much she is able to heal through teamfights and her ability to zone enemies away with her Starcall and Equinox
So, what should I know before playing her?
The good!
→ Very higgh healing! → Nice sustain during laning phase → Can cancell many abilities with her E[[ability Equinox] → Easy to pick up but if mastered is a very valuable member of a team! → Global ultimate for cross-map plays! → Cute goat girl → Can mitigate Griveous Wounds!
Most of the time that you'll be taking Soraka you'll be able to have a nice early game, due to how hard you can poke and heal your ADC, while still being able to keep up with everyone due to your global healing on your R!
Sadly when playing Soraka into with a team that cant quite peel enemies away from you, you will be dead most of the time in teamfights because you are squishy as hell.
If the enemy botlane wins very hard you will have a tough time making it up to the team because a behind Soraka is not only very squishy, but also not as good at healing, while not being able to give any benefits to the team.
The Bad
→ Very high priority target → If put very behind, there's no good way to catch up → Requires a slow skillshot to recover health → Soraka loos very tasty to enemy assassins D;
And The Ugly
→ Soraka's base model ingame is very ugly ; ~ ;
What do Soraka's spells do?
Salvation (Passive)
Soraka's passive allows her to be sped up when running towards allies with low health
Star Call (Q)
Soraka's First ability is Starcall. This is Soraka's only ofensive ability, which when cast will call a star to fall down into the ground, which travels faster while closer to Soraka the ability is casted. When an enemy is hit with this ability, they will be slowed and Soraka will gain rejuvenation, which will heal soraka overtime.
Astral Infusion (W)
This is Soraka's bread and butter, which when cast will heal an ally, at a health cost to Soraka. But if this ability is casted while Soraka is affected by rejuvenation, the health cost of this ability will be reduced.
Equinox (E)
This is Soraka's main defensive ability, which will summon a circle in the ground, inside which enemies
will be silenced, and after this area expires, rooted.[/columns]
Wish (R)
Soraka's ultimate will heal all allies in the map will be healed (Including those inside Mordekaiser's Realm of Death), the healing is further increased if said allies are low on health. This ability also removes the [griveous wounds] effect on all allies.
How should her spells be used?
Soraka's Starcall is her main offensive ability, which can be used multiple ways, but the main ways are:
1. To heal herself with rejuvenation
2. To heal an ally (Since it reduces Astral Infusions health cost)
3. To zone enemies away from a spot
4. To combo with Equinox, since this ability slows enemy
Soraka's Astral Infusion can really be used only one way, which is to heal an ally. But who should you be prioritizing to heal? Its quite simple really.
Your carry is your priority, always. Closely followed by the peelers, who work hard to keep both you and your carry alive. Lastly you can heal the other members of your team (such as assassins).
Soraka's Wish. While at a first glance Wish looks simple, it can be used in 2 very different ways; to heal or remove [griveous wounds]
from allies
Runes!
Time to explain my selection of runes!
Starting by Aery with scorch, this is a pretty basic Soraka rune page, it has Summon Aery For the shield, Manaflow Band to gain max mana, Transcendence to gain CDR and Scorch to deal more damage while poking in lane. Resolve Is pretty good on soraka, thanks to Bone Plating, which helps with survivability and Revitalize, which allows soraka to heal and be healed more
Aery with Gathering Storm is pretty much the same as the previous runepage, but instead of Scorch, we're using Gathering Storm, just to gain extra AP when the game goes longer. We're keeping Resolve as Bone Plating and Revitalize Still work good with this build.
Changing from Sorcery to Resolve, this Guardian rune page is also a pretty standard one. We're using Guardian for the Shield it gives when standing near an ally or healing them, Font of Life, as it get triggered by Soraka's Starcall, Bone Plating which is still very good and Revitalize for the extra healing. Just like in the previous runepage we're usingthe Domination tree on secondary. Taste of Blood for lane sustain and Ingenious Hunter for the Item CD it gives, which works AMAZINGLY with Moonstone Renewer
This runepage is focuses more on poking, with the Arcane Comet, Scorch and Biscuit Delivery to regain the mana lost by spamming Starcall, regardless to say you'll be more squishy without the Bone Plating, so be carefull when using this rune page.
Okay okay let me explain, I've used it a few times and I think its not THAT bad. You've got Fleet Footwork for some nice lane sustain, Legend: Tenacity To let you brush off cc better (Very nice when matched with Mercury's Treads) while also having the Resolve tree to let you be a bit harder to kill. You could also go AD with this build, switching Legend: Tenacity with Legend: Alacrity, but I wont give you any help with that lul.
Ultimate Hunter vs Ingenious Hunter
Ultimate Hunter
VS
Ingenious Hunter
When running Ultimate Hunter on Soraka, I mainly believe it is to be able to use your Wish more flexibly without worrying too much about the CD.
Spellthief's Edge > POKING
You should be looking to start with this in matchups in which you can easily poke the enemy botlaners, or when you should be playing more agressive in lane.
RELIC SHIELD > SAFETY
If, instead the matchup is not good, as in you'll be poked alot or they're bot is very agressive, you should opt for Relic Shield, as its bonus stats are HEALTH and HEALTH REGENERATION, which may be the decisive stats that let you survive the lane!
Items on Soraka and when to get them!
Moonstone Renewer
Moonstone Renewer is very good on Soraka, as it increases how much you heal, and allows you to heal multiple allies at once!. The cons of this item is that it only provides benefits to your team. You as Soraka dont get anything from purchasing this mythic, so make sure you can survive teamfights before buying this item.
Locket of the Iron Solari Locket of the Iron Solari is a great option when the enemy team is diving your backlane like crazy, as its active gives you and allies nearby a shield, but does not augment your healing.
Shurelya's Battlesong
I personally like this mythic the most, as it provide you and your allies with movement speed, while also passively giving you Ability Haste!. This item will also increase your survivability and will allow you to get better engages and disengages!
Redemption Redemption will always be a fantastic item on Soraka, as it increases your healing by ALOT, and the active lets you heal yourself after teamfights, after which you'll usually be on low health due to the healing cost of Astral Infusion
Ardent Censer
This item works very good on allies who want to auto attack often, and hit hard while doing so. Do note that if your ADC is not someone who wants the atack speed too much (Such as Jhin or Draven), you should consider going for other items.
Staff of Flowing Water
Staff of flowing water is no where as good as it was before, but its still okay
Buy this if your team can do good use of the AP and Ability Haste this item gives to allies you heal. Remember that it also gives YOU these stats!
Mikael's Blessing Mikael's Blessing is a very situational item. Unless the enemy team is heavy on both AP and CC (such as Morgana, Amumu) Or has very dangerous but short cc (such as Lux or Varus) Consider this item!. <<Important>> Mikael's only removes stuns, roots, taunts, fears, silences and slows, it is NOT a full cleanse
Vigilant Wardstone
This item should only be bough itf you really need the extra vision. Very good against champions such as Evelynn, Twitch, Fiddlesticks or anyone who has a Camouflage
Warmog's Armor
This should generally be a build rounder, (4th or 5th Item), as the stats and passive works really good on Soraka as it allows her to have extra survivability in fights and after them
Chemtech Putrifier
Chemtech Putrifier is a very good item when dealing with champions thet heal too much such as Darius or The Darkin Scythe: Rhaast. Buying this item also allows your teammates to have an extra item slot that they'd otherwise use on Griveous Wounds Items.
Zhonya's Hourglass
Zhonya's Hourglass is a good item to have on your mind whenever you choose against building Locket of the Iron Solari, as its active may give your team enough time to respond to any enemy who's diving you!
Mejai's Soulstealer Mejai's Soulstealer Should really only be a last item (After stacking a Dark Seal, As it is meh at most on soraka. The free AP and Movement speed sure is good, but having a stacked Mejai's Soulstealer may make your enemies more keen on taking you down.
How to Lane early
Early game your objective should be mostly to survive without losing too hard lane. If you feel you can do this sucessfully, then you can start thinking about being agressive.
On most matchups you will not have the chance to be agressive, but on the few you can , be really agressive, as Soraka's q Starcall deals a hefty ammount of damage early game. In this part of the game you should always be looking for a good Q Starcall before casting Astral Infusion, as the health cost can leave you very weak to an all in in lane. This is UNLESS your adc has much less health than you.
If instead its a hard matchup or they are getting help from teammates often, just ask your adc not to push so you can have the safety of your tower, since thanks to your E Equinox and healing capabilities, you're not quite easy to towerdive if you're with a teammate.
What do I do after laning phase ends?
When getting into mid - late game, you should be looking to stay with whoever can get you asists while keeping you alive (Most of the time adcs fulfill this role).
As an example, while someone like Draven, Jhin, Orianna, Lux, Xerath can net you some nice asists without putting you at risk are good allies to stay with, someone like Zed, Akali, Sett or Kha'Zix are harder teammates to stand with at this point of the game, as they usually dive into the enemy team to get kills, leaving you open.
Whenever a teamfight occurs you want to stay in the backline healing your allies in this order of priorities: CARRYS > PEEL > FRONTLANE > OTHERS
While you are meant to stay in the back, you can move foward in case someone on your team overextends (Such as a Vayne diving into the enemy team) But it should only be done if you know your teammates can have your back, as a dead Soraka doesnt heal as much as an alive one.
The end (For now)
This guide is still a WIP, but i'll release as I manage to make progress on it!
