Introduction

Keeper of the ancient art of Wuju, Master Yi is a mystical warrior from the isle of Ionia. He descended from one of the few tribes dedicated to the preservation of Wuju, a martial art founded with the principles of absolute spiritual awareness of one's self and one's enemy. When the armies of Noxus invaded Ionia, Master Yi joined in the Ionian defense to fight the craven enemy, bringing his village honor through his unparalleled mastery of the blade. The ensuing battles ravaged the land, but no conflict inflicted as much horror as the day the armies of Noxus closed in on Yi's village. Left undefended, the village became the unfortunate test subject of the latest invention by an up-and-coming chemist, now known as Singed. The remains of the village that Master Yi returned to were so horrific that it remains a festering scar on Ionian history. To this day, no Ionian will ever publicly speak of what occurred.

After the Noxian invasion was contained, Master Yi fell into a deep isolation. For years, he trained morning to night, speaking to no one and refusing offers of consolation by fellow Ionians. The only thing stopping him from madly charging into Noxus battle lines headfirst was his pledge to keep the Wuju style alive. Even though he seethed with impatience, his rage became a tool for sharpening his practice of Wuju, developing stronger and deadlier skills for his eventual vengeance. The only thing that roused him was news of the League's formation, and Noxus' subsequent enrollment in the League. Master Yi now brings his mastery of the blade to the League of Legends with unflinching purpose: to avenge his kinfolk and end the predations of the Noxus once and for all.

''The art of Wuju lives on in Master Yi, and is plunged through the hearts of his foes.'' -- Soraka, the Starchild

My master Yi guide will take you beyond average and to carry. Yi truly is the perfect DPS carry, with to chasing moves, Alpha Strike] and Highlander, an escape move Highlander, a laning ability, Meditate, and a damage increaser, Wuju Style
Follow this guide and you're on the way to many victories with him.

Runes

Runes are critical early game. If you have good runes, you are likely to get first blood and some early kills, which can lead to getting fed and/or winning. You might be wondering why there are AP runes. These are GREATLY needed early game. This makes your meditate much better early on, as well as your Alpha Strike do more damage. The meditate is the main reason though, that way you can lane much better

Masteries

As always, 21 in attack, 9 in utility. Although I dislike the Exhaust booster mastery, it's required to get any before the initial few. If you don't have 30 mastery points (level 30) then I advise you start by choosing all of the attack ones on the list, then if you have more left, start building the utility

Items

Starting Items- Boots, 2 Health Potion , and a Mana Potion. This may sound like a strange first run Item list, but in a 5v5 this is ESPECIALLY helpful. The boots help you get to your lane faster, giving you the advantage of the bushes, the health potions keep you in lane, leveling you faster, as do the mana potions.

First (or second) trip back.

If you farm well enough with Alpha Strike , and maybe even got some kills (or assists and stayed in lane, you should have enough to get Pickaxe and finish off Berserker's Greaves. This will give you good attack speed early on and some good damage.

Next trip back-

Buy Zeal . This item gives you more attack speed and crit chance. If you have enough, buy B.F. Sword, or Cloak of Agility , getting you one step closer to Infinity Edge

Next, finish off Infinity Edge, this will give you a good amount of damage and it's passive increases critical damage, if Yi gets this early enough in the game, it's game over for the other team (also keep this in mind if you're playing against him)

Then buy Hextech Revolver. This gives you Ability Power, making your Alpha Strike and Meditate much better.

Eventually, you're going to finish off Hextech Gunblade

Eventually, you're gonna need some more damage, buy bloodthurster.

Now finish it off with an AP/AD item, Guinsoo's Rageblade

Skill Sequence

Most people have this strange idea to get Alpha Strike first. DON'T! What you need is Wuju Style. This gives you the Damage you need to start the game off WELL. After this, get Alpha Strike. Then Meditate. Then MAX your Wuju Style until you can get your ultimate. Then continue to max Wuju. Thne start upgrading meditate more.

Using your abilities.

Alpha Strike - Master Yi leaps across the battlefield with blinding speed, dealing magic damage to multiple units in his path with a chance to deal bonus magic damage to minions.
Master Yi leaps across the battlefield striking up to 4 enemies, dealing 100/150/200/250/300 (+1) magic damage to each enemy with a 20/30/40/50/60% chance to deal 400 bonus magic damage to minions.

This is a REALLY nice harassing tool. What you do is this-

wait until your passive is at 7 so that you have a double strike, then jump to an enemy champion. This alone does GREAT damage, but it gets better. Hit them again, and it will do double damage. Sometimes (not often though) you will crit. One time, I got a kill doing JUST this at level 2

While farming, don't do it when the minions are still full health (unless its late game), but rather, wait until they are at half health or lower to use it, getting you gold and creating a small minion swarm.

In a team fight, this prevents you from taking damage for about 1/2 a second, which is a lot late game, and also damaged the whole team.

Meditate - Master Yi rejuvinates his body by focus of mind, restoring health and increasing his armor and magic resistance for a short time.
Master Yi channels, restoring 140/280/420/560/700 (+1.65) health over 5 seconds. While channeling, Master Yi gains 100/150/200/250/300 armor and magic resistance.

After killing a hero with ignite, and you have very low HP, many time you can beat the ignite with Meditate Also, fighting Teemo and Twitch (or any character with a built-in ignite), meditate can often beat that

Its also good for staying in the lane longer and avoiding unneeded trips back; especially when you have AP runes

Wuju Style - Master Yi becomes skilled in the art of Wuju, passively increasing the power of his physical attacks. Activating Wuju Style doubles the passive bonus damage for a short time, but the passive bonus is temporarily removed after the effect wears off.
Active: Master Yi can activate this ability to double its effectiveness for 10 seconds, but this removes the passive bonus until Wuju Style becomes available again.

You want to upgrade it AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!! This is free damage people! I mostly keep it off when I'm fighting creeps, but in a champ fight, I always use it.

Highlander - Master Yi moves with unparalleled agility, temporarily increasing Master Yi's movement and attack speeds as well as making him immune to all slowing effects. Additionally, killing a Champion refreshes all of Master Yi's cooldowns.
Increases Master Yi's movement speed by 40% and Attack Speed by 40/60/80%, and he becomes immune to all slowing effects for 6/9/12 seconds. Additionally, killing a champion refreshes all of Master Yi's cooldowns. (Assists reduce half of the base cooldown amount.)

The highlander is the PERFECT escape tool, ignoring all slows and increasing movement speed.

I try not to use it to chase, just because you may need it later on to escape, but if you're feeling greedy, then go ahead.

Double Strike Double Strike - Master Yi strikes twice every 7th attack.

As I said, time this with your "q" for good harassing/killing.

Summoner Spells

Clarvoyance is ill-advised, it may help as a team, but it wont help you.

Cleanse, Highlander does that for you, you don't need it.

Clarity, it's okay early game since Master Yi is mana hungry, but is almost useless late game

Exhaust I don't use it, mostly because if you need to chase/run, just use highland with only a 60 second cool down.

Flash is a must. If you can Flash through a wall, then put on highlander, you're impossible to ever catch, or if you're getting focused in a team fight, you can easily flash out.

Fortify, good for the team, not you

Ghost, highlander is basically a buffed up ghost.

Heal and Ignite are both only good early game.

Rally is just useless

Revive is only good for late game when the other team aces you (which wont happen with this build)

I advise you use Teleport

Smite is only good for jungle characters

Farming

Farming is what make master Yi OP late game. When you are level 5 or lower, I advise not auto attacking, since your attack speed and damage is so low at this point. Wait until the minion is low health, then last hit him. Also, if a minion swarm is about half health or lower, use Alpha Strike to farm them, sometimes 2 will be left, last hit them. Late game, you should be able to 1-hit minions, make sure you don't ONLY go after enemy champions, minions are vital too.

If you're in a lane against ranged players, leveling up Meditate can allow you to stay in the lane longer and gain levels faster than they will.
Wuju Style is very strong early for last hitting minions.
Try using Alpha Strike on a minion in front of an enemy champion so you are placed at a safe distance at the end of the spell.

Pros / Cons

Some good things-
Very few deaths
Lots of assists for doing almost nothing
A good amount of kills
You're more helpful in a team fight
Less likely to get focused

Some bad things-
Not quite as good of a carry
Less kills and more assists

Ranked Play

This build works ESPECIALLY well with Ranked play. People in Ranked are MUCH much better. Play it safe, harass every once and a while, but try to keep to farming as much as possible, stay aware of ganks, and DON'T die. The great thing is, if you get harassed, or almost killed, you can get almost all of your health back with Meditate and a pot or two.

Summary

This build give a less kills than most Yi builds, but it keeps you from dying. It also helps the team more, I personally would much rather have a Yi with this build on my team than any other Yi build. Also, lot's of the KSing AD carry (a.k.a Selfish builds) get you lots of kills BUT also get you reported. Especially at a higher level. But not this build
