Akali Melee champs like Akali aren't much trouble to Sona. Just be sure not to get too close and you'll be all set.

Skill Sequence

Sona's greatest ability by far is her passive. It may seem strange, but it does damage. Like, a lot of damage. When laning, be sure to constantly poke your opponent with your Q. Your abilities will also give your next basic attack a small damage boost. Whenever you can, be sure to always follow up with a basic attack after a Q. This way you will ensure a successful power chord hit on your enemy. Later in the game you can also use your ult to ensure your opponent does not escape. It may seem like a utility ult, but it does some devastating damage as well! Just make sure you remember your ult does NOT count as an ability to charge your power chord. (In other words, don't go in expecting to have a power chord after you ult if you have 2/3 spells used).

Spells

Flash: A must-have for midlaners. I hardly think this requires an explanation.

Teleport: I get criticized a lot for taking teleport on mid. Despite this I still highly recommend it. It's easy to gank by teleporting to a ward in a bush. It is also useful to ward a river bush at mid for later teleport. This way when you kill your lane opponent you can both recall to buy and get a decent push on your lane.

Jungle Synergies

Only recommendation: Sona mid works extremely well with champions that have high CC and similar ults to hers. For the jungle my best recommendation is Sejuani. Both champions have ults that stun and do dammage. Combining the crowd control of those ults both does high damage and ensures the kills.

Pros / Cons

Pros
- High damage
- Nice music to listen to
- An unexpected pick; opponents will get cocky

Cons
- Not very high sustain (don't forget her heal costs a LOT of mana and it doesn't heal that much early game)
- VERY squishy early game
- Don't forget, there's no adc to protect you and do damage! Solo mid is very different from duo bot.
