The Masteries

The mastery set is fairly basic. A 9-0-21 mastery tree allows the ability to have reduced cooldowns on summoner spells and on all of Ezreal's abilities. Because of Ezreal's q Mystic Shot and the 9% cooldown reduction from the mastery tree, runes and items providing cooldown reduction are not required. If anything grab blue buff and you are set. Also putting 9 points into offense provides the ability to be specialized on magic pen which provides a little bonus on your w and e early game.

The skill sequence.

Because the first few items you are building provide almost exclusively to your attack damage (mananmune and gunblade), it is important to put many points into your q which get most of its damage from AD. The more damage you do with your q, the easy it is to snipe minion kills from low health at a distance. Also if your opponent while soloing mid is being aggressive and is standing between his minions and yours make sure to put a couple shots on him. This will be a successful troll and normally send him back to his base for some health regen. Also try not to cast to many spells except for your q because it requires so much mana. The w and e take twice as much mana as the q and do less than it when you put the majority of your points into mystic shot. Make sure to use arcane shift to gain positioning then pop mystic shot and essence flux to do maximum damage. Always use essence flux only on champions and before mystic shot in your shot order. Because essence flux has a shorter range using it first will put in a position to also hit with mystic shot after doing more damage and reducing all of your cooldowns! At level 6 start using your ult whenever it is up. It is a great trolling technique with a low cooldown when consistantly using your mystic shot to lower cooldowns. Also keep an eye on all other lanes to find someone with low health sitting next to their turret to snipe a kill or send them b.

Runes

Marks = magic pen.

Most of the damage dealt will be from your spells because of mystic shots low cooldown and passive ability.

Seals = mana regen.

Ezreal is very mana dependant until he gets that philo. stone and then a fully stacked mananmune/tear of the goddess

Glyphs = ability power/lvl

The bonus ability power from runes will allow Ezreal to be a force to be reckoned with late game

Quints. = ability power (flat)

This will provide the little kick you need for essence flux and arcane shift you need early game to push back the opposing mid.

Items

Early game one mana potion and a regrowth pendant should give you enough lane control to push the opposing mid to their tower or to even make their mid champion go back/die. This item allows you to build quickly into a philosopher's stone on your first back and possibly get tier 1 boots straight away. This movement speed boost and mana + health regen will give you even more lane control. After farming for a while you should go back and get your tear of the goddess even if you don't really have to go back. This will help you get more and more mana as the game progresses which will be even better when you are able to go back to get your manamune and boots of swiftness. The boots will allow to you to escape and you shouldn't die at all from this point onward. The speed boost + use of flash and arcane shift will allow you to outrun and dodge all of the enemies. After your have a fair amount of AD it is time to start building part of the AP. Get a hextech revolver in order to give you even more longevity in the lane and a nice AP boost. Then build this into a gunblade and you will be virtually unstoppable because not only does mystic shot proc on spell vamp but also lifesteal! You will get a return on your mystic shot at almost 50% of the damage dealt to go to health! After the gunblade a lich bane is required. The sheen effect with make mystic shot do twice as much damage. You become a nuke by mid game. Also using sheens effect, auto attack once after using your ult to maximize damage. After the lich bane get a Rylai's Crystal Scepter for more health and ability power as well as that wonderful slow on your q, w, e and r! The final item I suggest is mostly situational. If needed upgrade your philo stone into Eleisa's Miracle for some tenacity. There have also been games where I sell my philo. stone for either more AP or AD as well as possibly armor like Frozen Heart or Magic Resist like Force of Nature. Really the 6th spot is open for whatever the situation calls for. The philosopher's stone is very important early game for the mana/health regen but by late game it is almost unnoticed and with the surplus of mana from the manamune and the life steal/spell vamp from the gunblade it is not needed. You could also get some sort of snowballs like a sword of the occult or soulstealer if you are doing well and time is on your side.

So this looks like an AP build to me.

Incorrect. The manamune and gunblade provide for all the attack damage needed for a hybrid ezreal. The lich bane makes auto attacks useful again. Also mystic shots damage output is greatly increased do to the increase in AD. Although the majority of the time you will be casting spells (like an AP caster), much of the damage comes from the AD parts of the build used with the mystic shot. Lich Bane makes mystic shot do both magic and physical damage thus making this a hybrid build.

More gameplay tips.

Always use your ult if it is up. Mystic shot will make the minute plus cooldown into a 20-30 second cooldown for this heavy hitting ult that can hit multiple targets.

WARD BARON: your ult can easily be used to snipe baron from an unsuspecting enemy team.
WARD DRAGON: See WARD BARON

Get blue: although your cooldowns are already super low from mystic shot who wouldn't want that extra mana regen and cooldown reduction. If there is someone like a kayle or anivia on your team they are more mana dependant... give it to them. Everyone loves a kayle with blue.

Don't go alone late game: basic tip... don't be dumb even with a double flash and boots of swiftness, you can't outrun an entire team enclosing on u from all sides

Remember to watch the lanes to get free kills/assists. Many times your ult can save your team from losing first blood and you can save your teammates as well as pick up a few kills.
