Fleetmo - Teemo Support

By Bartschatten
Fleet Footwork...?

Welcome to my Teemo Support Guide!

I am a LoL veteran and have been playing the game pretty much all the time since Season 2. I peaked Diamond III in Season 3 and 7 and have otherwise always been ranking in high Platinum. For what it's worth.

Ever since I left university and had less time to go full on tryhard, I picked up jungle and support as my main roles and have always enjoyed off-meta picks more than anything else.
Teemo is one of my all time favorite champs and after playing him a lot in jungle I tried him on and off as support with Dark Harvest, Summon Aery and First Strike. But I died a lot (and still do, to be honest) and got a lot of hate purely based on the fact that I played Teemo as a support. So I it wasn't a very fulfilling experience and I had to change things up.

After trying out Fleet Footwork something just clicked. My winrate went up and the lane phases went much more smoothly for me! Since Season 13 I have exclusively played Teemo Support in solo queue and have peaked at Diamond IV this season, which is pretty dope I think.

Now you might ask...

Why on earth would I run Fleet Footwork on Teemo Support?
Because I like to spit those who oppose me in the face and run away!

I tried everything else and this just feels the best.
Teemo can get locked down quite easily in lane and you have to harass the enemy if you want to be useful. Since you walk up a lot and take minion aggro here and there and get hit back of course, this keystone works perfectly.

Your playstyle should look something like this:

Every time you reach the 100 charges you hit something. It doesn't matter too much if you hit a champ or a minion (or a turret for that matter) - you heal and you get a burst of movement speed (which is further amplified by Celerity).
Fleet Footwork lets you move extremely fast to dodge skillshots and prevent retaliation after you b*tchslapped the enemy.

Oh, and did I mention you heal?

It's really good.
Never underestimate the power of the Scout's Code
Teemo is a scout by design and that is something people who don't play Teemo Support oversee quickly - even classic Teemo mains!

In your average match when you see a Teemo in either team, he will be visible a majority of the time, because he has to farm. Now as a support you are freed from these shackles and can fully embrace the role of a Scout!

What many people (even non-support Teemo mains) don't get about Teemo Support is that you play very different from any other lane you would play Teemo in.

You scout ahead, get insane vision with Noxious Trap and therefore gain intel.
Teemo Support is more of a game of cat and mouse - you jump out of invisbility, auto attack the enemy and back off quickly, before the enemy can retaliate. Here and there you spit a Blinding Dart at your enemy (preferably the ADC). Your greatest (and maybe your only) friend is the foliage on Summoners Rift. Brushes and Teemo's ability to turn invisible even faster in them, are what make him a master of recon and assassination.

Take these notes as a general guide to being a true scout and useful support:
  • Roam frequently and ward/shroom deep into enemy territory to gain map awareness.
  • Stay in brushes a lot and never stand still, even within them! Sit in spots that your opponent will not predict.
  • When you are sure your enemies don't have vision on you, sit in open areas in lane or in pathways that your enemies won't expect you to be in. (Be aware of skillshots and AoE abilities that might reveal you!)
  • Use your tactically smart and think ahead where your enemies will path along. This will open up opportunities in lane for you and your ADC to engage and surprise your enemy laners.
  • If your ADC does nothing but CS: don't feel forced to stay with him. Roam, gank top, support your jungler or even solo Rift Herald (you can do it quite easily post LV6).
  • Ward. And sweep. A lot!
  • You WILL. BE. FLAMED. Teemo Support is not for the feeble of mind and spirit. Don't lose faith in yourself!

THE RUNES

Let's talk Runes

FLEET FOOTWORK
Every time you reach the 100 charges you hit SOMETHING. This rune offers big speed burst and a nice sustain to be a menace in lane!
After the laning phase this keystone lets you stay out there much longer than running any other rune. Many Teemo support players run Dark Harvest and I tried it too, but you won't be as healty and once the enemy team runs 4-5 Oracle Lens, you won't be half as useful! With Fleet Footwork you'll always be useful, even if they clear all your shrooms, because you sustain for much longer during fights and you gain a lot of mobility to back away and/or dodge skillshots!

TRIUMPH
This just saves your butt and you get extra gold on kills and assists (remember your Shrooms?).

LEGEND: ALACRITY
Attack speed is what you'll want in this section. No questions asked.

LAST STAND
This last rune is highly dependant on personal preference and matchup. I am very much IN YOUR FACE and therefore often low hp and will hang around, trying to pick someone off. Coup de Grace is in general a solid choice!

This concludes my main rune page and I don't really ever change this up, except for the last row.

For your secondary rune page, you'll either go into Sorcery or Domination.

Domination is the rune tree for getting more Noxious Trap's and even more sustain, due to Taste of Blood.

TASTE OF BLOOD
Fantastic rune in combination with Fleet Footwork, so you'll sustain even more! Cheap Shot and Sudden Impact are genrally also very viable on Teemo but remember your role: you don't want to be a damage powerhouse, so having added sustain is preferable.

ULTIMATE HUNTER
Ultimate hunter has proven to be super useful and is thus the reason why I now go Domination over Celerity in most of my recent games.
Having more Noxious Traps is something that's always apreciated and for certain matchups it's just a life saver (e.g. Evelynn, Rengar etc.).
Also having more shrooms on the map in different spots will secure more kills/***its and therefore profit!

Sorcery is the rune tree for moving fast and poking in lane.

CELERITY
Now this is just golden with my build. You want to be fast and in and out, so movement speed is what you need! Combined with your W, you'll run marathons like it's nobody's business.
Running Transcendence or Absolute Focus instead is viable in general but I think with my build, which heavily relies on moving fast and being in and out in lane and in teamfights, you'll miss out if you don't have the extra movement speed.

SCORCH
Teemo is a DoT (Damage over Time for the filthy casuals) champ, so having added burn damage is a welcome addition - especially if you can't freely run up to auto attack and have to rely on poking with Blinding Dart in lane.
