Introduction

Hi,

this is a guide for all guys who look for a tanky champion that can fight in the front and still melts the enemies health.

Long before the League's regulation of such magic, mages experimented with the creation of artificial life. Now forbidden, instilling golems with reason was once not so uncommon a practice amongst the more expert of craftsmen. One such visionary was the Demacian artificer, Durand. Peerless at crafting sentient beings, Durand's constructs served as tireless guardians for the border towns of his beloved city-state, affording them protection from their Noxian neighbors. For his own defense, however, Durand kept his magnum opus: Galio. This mighty construct - forged in the image of a gargoyle - kept him safe on his journeys, allowing him to perform his important work without fear of reprisal from those hostile to his homeland. That is, until dealing with his taxing sentinels finally roused the ire of the Noxian High Command.

As Durand crossed the Howling Marsh with his masterwork in tow, he was set upon by Noxian assassins in force. Outnumbered and overwhelmed, Galio looked on in horror as the murderers cut down his charge, executing him swiftly before vanishing back into the mists. Stripped of his reason for being, Galio despaired. For years he remained in solitude, standing vigil over the bones of the master he had failed to protect... a literal monument to his own everlasting shame. Then, one nondescript day, a sad but determined yordle girl carrying a mighty Demacian crown stopped in the shadow of a great statue to rest. Hidden in plain sight from his unsuspecting visitor, Galio studied the forlorn yordle. She looked as though she too shouldered a tremendous burden. As quietly and as stoically as she had arrived, she departed in the direction of Demacia. This encounter lit a spark in Galio's eye. Remembering the cause that his master had died defending, Galio arose from his silent purgatory and followed in the wake of this brave creature. He had a new reason to live: to join the League of Legends and fight for the will of Demacia.

''There is no such thing as redemption. Only penance.''

Runes

I take a mix of Magic Resist Runes and Ability Power Runes.

Why do i have take Ability for Quintess?

I think it is important to have at least 20 or more AP at level 1.

And why Magic Resist? Well,Galios passiv gives him 50% of his Magic Resist as Bonus Ability Power:

Galio converts 50% of his total Magic Resistance into Ability Power

Masteries

I try to build Galio as tanky as possible, but still taken some Ability Power and Cooldown Reduction from the Offense Tree.

Feel free to find your perfect,i think that 9/21/0 works fine too.

Items

I love Athenes Unholy Gral, amazing item, which will grant that you dont need to recall after each kill or assisthelp you done.

Abyssal Szepter helps you to gain nice amount of AP and of course Magic Resist.

I think Guardian Angel and Banshee´s Veil are in nearly each Galio build.

Now why the Zhonyas? and not maybe the Rabadons Death Cap?

Remember, you want to be a fortress, really tanky nearly 200 armor at lv 18,without buffs and a allied Aegis of Legion.

YOu may take Rabadons instead if a) you cant use a Zhonyas =) or b) if the enemy team is so noob that you just want to melt them and know they cant even touch you.

Skill Sequence + Summoner Spells

Make sure you max your Q Spell first.

It has one of the best and for the enemies most annoying slows that i know.

And the best,it can slow the whole enemy team, not like a Nunu or Nasus or Dr.Mundo where you

get only 1 Champion.

E is a fine spell to which is in my eyes the support spell for your Q spell.

W is maxed last. But dont forget it,often guys tend to forget it.

You can use it in a defense way and in a offensive way.

Galio shields a friendly champion for 4 seconds, increasing their Armor and Magic Resistance by 30/45/60/75/90. Each time the unit suffers damage, Galio is healed for 25/40/55/70/85 (+0.3). (-20% healing for each consecutive hit)

Use it right before you want to press your ultimate or a q e (and thanks to the cooldown reducution again q^^)combo.

Q Spell:Resolute Smite Galio fires a concussive blast from his eyes, dealing 80/135/190/245/300 (+0.6) magic damage to enemies near the impact location, and reducing their movement speed by 24/28/32/36/40% for 2.5 seconds.

E Spell:Righteous Gust Galio unleashes a gust of concussive wind that deals 60/105/150/195/240 (+0.5) magic damage to all enemies in its path. A directional draft remains for 5 seconds, increasing the movement speed of allies passing through it by 20/28/36/44/52%.

R Spell:

Idol of Durand - Galio assumes the form of a statue, taunting nearby enemies and storing concussive energy as they attack him. Galio then bursts from his statue shell, releasing the stored energy to damage surrounding foes.
Galio channels for 2 seconds, taunting nearby foes and blocking 50% of incoming damage.

After channeling, Galio deals 220/330/440 (+0.6) magic damage to surrounding enemies, plus an additional 5% damage for each attack he suffered while channeling. Max 40% bonus damage.

And Galio with his flash up is awesome.

Slow the enemies, fasten yourself up and do your ultimate is the normal way.But sometimes they are not in your range or doing baron and a flash plus your Ultimate:BOOM

Pros / Cons

PROS:
+Counters most AP Carries(Morgana spellshield damn^^)
+His Ultimate can carry games, even if the whole team is 0-50
+You can play him tanky and still a lot of damage.
+Even as support,really great.

CONS:
-Needs skill
-Really Mana Hungry, you need Blue buff for sure.
-Often Galio Players feel to sure about diving and the jungler helps in lane to counter you,but you can =)

Creeping / Jungling

With Galio it is very easy to creep because with your 3rd point into Q Spell you do a lot damage, poor minions.

And even earlier with Q and E it is enough to slay down the minions.

But try to safe your mana in early levels, cause those spells cost a lot mana.

And remember you have ranged spells but you are still a melee fighter.

Team Work

Galio is one of the Team Work Mid champions NO 1.

Make sure you slow enemy team fasten up your teammate, use the shield often for others too and of course do nice Ults.

Sometimes i recommend to sacrafize yourself with a nice flash Ultimate where you might die in the end,but your whole team is still alive and you the one who made the Ace possible.

Dont be afraid to take some enemies away from low health allies,by pressing that awesome ultimate, they will thank you a lot.

Ending

Really some words: Dont try out a champion on a ranked game.

Practise him at normal games,Dominion or even at a BOT-Game.

But when you expierenced with him, take him as AP Tank Mid champion or as great support champion.

Dont play for doing always kills, the win for the team is objective NO 1 and they will honor you if you did a Ultimate where you did 5 Assists.

And look at the team you have. A Galio combined with a fiddle jungler or a Sona Support and Ezreal AD Carry is so great to win nearly each teamfight.
Amumu is great too ofc.

Now i say have fun with that guide,i will improve it!

And here is a video for you guys:
