Introduction

Welcome to my mordekaiser guide!
This is a tanky AP build, accompanied by a single hybrid item( ) to give him an offensive health regain component.
With this build, it wont take long before you become the monstrosity, charging into the enemy team, and taking them out one by one, using their own against them!

Without further ado, enjoy!

Pros / Cons

Here I will explain the pros and the cons about this build/mordekaiser

Pros
* nearly impossible to harass in laning phase
* Conquers 1v1 lanes against most melee champions
* A great farmer and quick pusher
* With a low cooldown on Q and E, can output a very sustainable amount of damage
* Turns a 5v5 team fight to a 6v4 team fight if an enemy is slain
* probably alot more but lets stay at those few :)

Cons
- REQUIRES a health regain item of some sorts to be efficient as his spells cost health
- Kind of item dependant
- Is less tanky due to the offensive items instead of tank items

Skill Sequence and Skill Explaination

Here i will explain skills and their sequence in bottom(very nice boxed style :) )

On next hit, Mordekaiser swings his mace with such force that it echoes out, striking up to 3 additional nearby targets, dealing damage plus bonus damage. If the target is alone, the bonus damage is doubled.

Mace of Spades should be a follow up on siphon of destruction if both are ready, but if only mace of spades is ready, use it anyway, it is your hardest hitting spell if the target is alone. Combined with siphon of destruction, you can, very early in the game, clear caster minions in 2 hits.

Unleashes a protective cloud of metal shards to surround an ally, increasing their armor and magic resistance and dealing damage per second to enemies in the cloud.

Creeping Death will deal significant damage very quickly, as you get more AP, it will actually be more useful to run next to your enemy with creeping death rather than running behind them, auto attacking. Can be used to clear minions just like a sunfire cape( quickly adding up to be as good as up to FIVE sunfire capes).

Mordekaiser deals damage to enemies in a cone in front of him. For each unit hit, Mordekaiser's shield absorbs energy.

Siphon of Destruction is your Farming ability, later in the game, you can instakill caster minions with it. You should use it whenever you can in a fight, especially team fight. Always try hitting as many as possible, it gives you more shield.

Mordekaiser curses an enemy, stealing a percent of their life each second. If the target dies while the spell is active, their soul is enslaved and will follow Mordekaiser for 30 seconds.

Your ultimate, always combine it with ignite if possible, REMEMBER TO USE THE GHOST. Use it to catch runners in a team fight, use it to tank towers when pushing, use it as an expendable additional champion! late game this will deal 25% initial damage and 25% over the duration, ofcourse 50% of the enemy's max health!

The skill sequence is: EQEWEREWEWRWWQQRQQ

Summoner Spells

Here i will explain summoner spell choices and alternatives.

: A must for Mordekaiser, this spell should NOT be replaced with something else as it is required for your ultimate to work properly!
Ignite CANNOT be replaced by any other summoner spell!

: Ghost is a decent choice for any champion, including Mordekaiser, not that isn't a bad choice, its a matter of preference.
Ghost can be replaced by ANY summoner spell, its a matter of preference.

Runes

Here i will explain runes and their alternatives.
Marks: gives you magic penetration, bringing you up to abouts 50 magic penetration paired with and . There isn't really any alternatives, as this is the absolute best choice here.

Seals: greater seal of defenseGives you a nice chunk of armor for the late game.
Alternatives: greater seal of resillience giving you a better early/mid game.

Glyphs: Gives you a nice Chunk of magic resistance for the late game.
Alternatives: giving you a better early/mid game.

Quintessences: Gives a good amount of health, useful for the entire game.

Masteries

Here i will explain the masteries, divided in offense and defense.

Offense
Go with Archmange's savvy for more AP, and get the Spell penetration mastery, these are the only REALLY useful masteries for mordekaiser in the offense tree.

Defense
Go with armor and magic resistance, get 2 in dodge unless you went with heal, or revive(what?), you only get the dodge because there is nothing else to pick. Then get damage mitigation and flat health. Getting Ardor is EXTREMELY important, its the best mastery for mordekaiser in the defense tree, giving you 4% more AP(Rabadon's + ardor = 134%).

Items

Here I will explain the item choices.

Doran's Shield: you should start with this, as it gives you armor, health and health regen, some would say its stupid because you could pick regrowth pendant. But the problem here, is that you DON'T use regrowth pendant for any items in the build, so you might aswell have the health and armor.
An overall great start item.

Hextech Revolver: This item should be bought before boots entirely because it will make your spells FREE! thats right! your spells will deal more than five times their health cost(mostly), if not use creeping death!
Hextech Revolver is an extremely important item in the laning phase due to the spell vamp.

Sorcerer's Shoes: The best shoes for mordekaiser, giving magic penetration. This makes ALL his spells hit harder.
You shouldn't question these boots :O

Hextech Gunblade: It's weird, but as soon as you get this item, you start rolling the enemy team(usually), comboing its active, with your ult and ignite, not to forget EQ, will often overwhelm an enemy(especially carry) and turn the team fight INSTANTLY. But remember, it also gives lifesteal and spell vamp.
The Main purpose of this build.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter: Now not only your gunblade slows the enemy, all of your spells do, even your creeping death. This makes you a big threat, not just the slow, but the health literally makes you bigger(lol).
Second most important item.

Rabadon's Deathcap: when you buy this, you will be able to clear minion waves in a 1-2 combo of EQ, and one shotting caster minions with E. Your Creeping death will also be worth almost five sunfire capes when you get rabadons deathcap.
HUGE damage boost when you buy this.

Abyssal Scepter: Giving a magic resistance bonus and more AP and not to forget more magic penetration(in the form of an aura), makes this an awesome item.
A defensive-offensive item, very good for mordekaiser.

Zhonya's Hourglass: giving armor and AP, making this a good item for mordekaiser. It should be said that more often than not, the active will be in the way rather than useful, use with care.
Another Defensive-offensive item, good for mordekaiser.

Now some will probably ask " why no FoN? no Randuin? no TANK items?" then ill tell you, you get all the defense stats you need from abyssal scepter, rylais and zhonya's hourglass.

Your build Should end up looking like this:

Early Game

Early Game you should just try to farm, but if you do push up to the enemy turret(obviously in higher ranked games you wont push past river without good reason), you should use your siphon of destruction to tap on the enemy champions, while being right out of reach from the turret. otherwise you should just be farming.

As soon as you get Hextech Gunblade your midgame starts, smash some people, your EQR(ignite)(gunblade shot) combo kills almost any squishy quickly. but remember to farm!

Team Fights

In a team fight you should pick a target to focus, and just throw everything at them, all spells, and try to kill them. preferably pick a carry, because they push faster if you win the team fight, and hit hard if they die before the team fight ends.

Always try to hit as many as possible with your siphon of destruction and remember to use creeping death on yourself whenever its possible(self cast is ALT+W).
