Katarina Passive Ability

Pro's and Con's

Pro's:
-Sinister Steel and Death Lotus deal more damage than AP Katarina and are both AoE
-Even MORE burst than before
-Takes turrets a lot quicker
-Basic's now deal a considerable amount of damage
-INCREDIBLE sustain through lifesteal + spellvamp
-Quite capable of clearing jungle camps on her own after Ravenous/Hextech GB
-3 additional sources of damage AP Kat usually doesn't have (Ravenous active, Hextech active and Basic's)
-Incredible if you gain the lead/Snowball
-Physical Damage through Basics + Ravenous to counter MR
-Much better against some of her bad matchups, such as Galio or Kassadin

Con's:
-Q+E deal very little damage early game, therefore you have little poke. (E'ing nearby and hitting them with a max range W is even greater than it used to be however)
-More expensive build
-A little harder to catch up if you fall behind

Damage Calculations

Full Build AP Katarina: Ludens, Sorc Shoes, Rabadon's, Void Staff, Rylai's and Zhonya's
100AP + 120AP + 80AP + 100AP + 70AP
= 470AP (+35% AP)
= 634.5AP

Full Build Hybrid Kat: Ravenous + Sorc Shoes + Bloodthirster + Hextech GB + Rabadon's + Void
75AD + 75AD + (40AD + 80AP) + 120AP + 80AP
= 190AD + 280AP (+35% AP)
= 190AD + 378AP

Sinister Steel - 40/80/120/160/200 (+0.6 per bonus Attack Damage) (+25% of ability power) magic damage.
AP Kat - 200 + (634.5x0.25)
= 200 + 158.625
= 358.625 Magic Damage
Hybrid Kat - 200 + (190x0.6) + (378x0.25)
= 200 + 114 + 94.5
= 408 Magic Damage

Death Lotus - 350 / 550 / 750 (+ 3.75 per bonus attack damage) (+250% of ability power) magic damage.
AP Kat - 750 + (634.5x2.5)
= 750 + 1586.22
= 2336.22 Magic Damage
Hybrid Kat - 750 + (190x3.75) + (378x2.5)
= 750 + 1622.5
= 2372.5 Magic Damage

While the damage does seem only slightly higher than otherwise would be, this has not included damage from your Ravenous or Hextech GB

Ravenous Hydra - Deals physical damage up to 100% of your Attack Damage to units around you
= 190 Physical Damage

Hextech Gunblade - Deals 250 (+30% of ability power) magic damage and slows the target champion instantly by 40% for 2 seconds
= 250 + (378 x 0.3)
= 250 + 113.4
= 363.4 Magic Damage
