Kayn, the shadow reaper Welcome to my guide on how to play Kayn jungle. This is a very particular champion and one of the most satisfying to play. In fact, thanks to his passive the darkin scyhthe you can choose between 2 forms. You can be an Assassin or a fighter. I'm an OTP Kayn with 1M points on this champion. I've played for 1 year and I felt in love with this game and with this champion. I aim to become a challenger in my life and to do this I study very much trying to learn something new every day. |
Reaping Slash | Cooldown: 7 / 6.5 / 6 / 5.5 / 5 | Kayn dashes then spins his scythe, dealing 75/95/115/135/155 (+65% bonus ad) physical damages to enemies he passes through, then deals the damage again to nearby enemies. Rhaast: Instead deal 65% ad + 5%(+4% per 100 bonus ad) max health physical damage |
Blade's reach | Cooldown: 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 | Kayn swipes his scythe upward, dealing 90/135/180/225/270 (+130% bonus ad) physical damage and slowing enemies hit by 90% decaying over 1.5s. Shadow assassin Kayn can move while he's using this ability and increases its range. Rhaast additionally knocks up enemies hit for 1 second |
Shadow step | Cooldown: 21 / 19 / 17 / 15 / 13 | Kayn gains 40% of movement speed, becomes ghosted and can move through terrain for 7 / 7.5 / 8 / 8.5 / 9 seconds. When he first enters terrain, he restores 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 (+35% bonus ad) health. Being immobilized and spending more than 1.5 consecutive seconds outside of terrain ends this ability early. Shadow Assassin: Gain 80% movement speed, slow immunity and reduce the cooldown to 8 seconds. |
Umbral Trespass | Cooldown: 120 / 100 / 80 | Passive: Champion damaged by Kayn are marked for 3.15 seconds. Kayn infests a marked enemy, becoming untargetable. After 2.5s or after recasting, Kayn bursts out, dealing 150/250/350 (+175% bonus ad) physical damage to the enemy. Shadow Assassin Increases this ability's range, the distance of Kayn's exit and refreshes the darkin's scythe cooldown on exit. Rhaast Instead deals 15% (+13% per 100 bonus ad) physical damage and restores 9.75% (+8.45% per 100 bonus ad) health (65% damage amount). |

MY PERSONAL OPINION
These are my favourite runes, an evergreen if you are a Rhaast lover, thanks to these runes you will be unkillable.
You can substitute Bone Plating with Conditioning if you cant gank early and you want to use the advantage in mid/late game.
You can also substitute Revitalize with Overgrowth if you want to be more tanky. I strongly recommend this option if enemies are full ad or full ap.
USEFUL ITEM OPTIONS
Item description +10 item haste +250 health +80 armor Active: UNIQUE – HUMILITY: Unleash a shockwave around you that slows nearby enemies by 99% for 0.25 seconds and reduces their attack damage by 10% and critical strike damage by 20% for 4 seconds (60 second cooldown). Passive: UNIQUE – ROCK SOLID: Every incoming instance of post-mitigation Basic Attack.png basic damage is reduced by 5 (+ 3.5 per 1000 maximum health), maximum 40% reduction each. Personal Advices Randuin's Omen is a very good choice if you are against heavy ad champions that build crit items like Yasuo, Master Yi, Gangplank, Tryndamere ecc. |
Item description +400 mana +20 ability haste +80 armor Passive: UNIQUE - Rock Solid: Reduces incoming damage from basic attacks by up to 7 [+3.5% per 1000 max], capped at 40% of the attack's damage. UNIQUE - Winter's Caress: Cripples nearby enemies' attack speed by 20% (700 range). Personal Advices Frozen Heart is a very good choice if you are against heavy ad champions that spam autos like Yasuo, Master Yi, Bel'Veth, Tryndamere ecc. |
Item description +350 health +60 armor Passive: UNIQUE – THORNS: When struck by a basic attack on-hit, deal 10 (+ 20% bonus armor) magic damage to the attacker and, if they are a champion, inflict them with 25% Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds. Immobilizing enemy champions also inflicts them with 40% Grievous Wounds icon.png Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds. Personal Advices Thornmail is strongly recommended if you are against ad champions based on healing like Yasuo, Aatrox, Nasus, Yone ecc. |
Item description +10 ability haste +40 magic resistence +450 health +100% health base regeneration Passive: UNIQUE – BOUNDLESS VITALITY: Increases all Heal power icon.png healing and Hybrid resistances icon.png shielding received by 25%. Personal Advices I consider Spirit Visage a core item, is always useful even if you're not going for the tank build especially if you have a peeler support like Yuumi, Janna or Soraka. |

MY PERSONAL OPINION
I don't use these runes often, because my favourite playstyle is tank Kayn.
Anyways these runes are still good if you want to play for mid/late game because thanks to Transcendence and Gathering Storm you gain a lot of scaling damage.
If you're confident with the champion pick this runes.
USEFUL ITEM OPTIONS
Item description +45 attack damage +30 ability haste +350 health Passive: UNIQUE – CARVE: Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion applies a stack of Carve for 6 seconds, stacking up to 6 times. Each stack reduces the target's armor by 5%, up to 30% at 6 stacks. Personal Advices Black Cleaver is an evergreen, its stats are broken especially if you are against tanks. If you are against 2 or more tanks also Serylda's Grudge is strongly recommended. |
Item description +55 Attack Damage +45 armor +15 ability haste Passive: UNIQUE – IGNORE PAIN: Stores 30% / 10% of all post-mitigation damage received (including shields), which is successively taken as damage over time true damage instead, dealing one-third of the stored damage every second. UNIQUE – DEFY: Champions dying within 3 seconds of damage remove Ignore Pain's remaining damage, and heal you for (+175% bonus) over the duration. Personal Advices Death's Dance is a very good choice if you need armor to avoid to be oneshotted but you already have a frontline in your team. This item will grant you heal, armor and damage, broken item when you have to carry the team in fights. |
Item description +55 attack damage +20 ability haste +50 magic resistence Passive: UNIQUE - LIFELINE: If you would take magic damage that would reduce you below 30% of your maximum health, you first gain a Hybrid resistances shield that absorbs 200 / 150) (+ (225% / 168.75%) bonus AD) magic damage for 5 seconds (75 second cooldown). UNIQUE: Triggering Lifeline also grants 10% omnivamp for 5 seconds. After 2 seconds into the duration, taking or dealing damage refreshes this effect to 3 seconds. Personal Advices Maw of Malmortius has the same goal of Death's Dance, build it if you are against ap champions. |
Item description +40 attack damage +300 health +35 magic resistence Active: UNIQUE – QUICKSILVER: Removes all Stun icon.png crowd control debuffs (except Airborne icon.png Airborne) from your champion and grants 40% Tenacity icon.png tenacity, 40% Slow immune icon.png slow resist, and Ghost.png ghosting for 3 seconds (90 second cooldown). Personal Advices Silvermere Dawn is a good option when you are against champions that has in their kit just 1 spell that stuns like Lux or Ahri. In this way you can avoid their full combo. |

MY PERSONAL OPINION
If you're ahead, these runes will grant you items before your enemies, use early/mid game advantage. You can change Future's Market with Magical Footwear. Choice is yours.

MY PERSONAL OPINION
If there are a lot of melee enemies, use these runes, you can proc Taste of Blood very often and Ingenious Hunter is so useful because you can use goredrinker on multiple enemies. If you want more damage you can also use Sudden Impact.
USEFUL ITEM OPTIONS
Item description +70 attack damage +20 ability haste +100% omnivamp Passive: UNIQUE – CLEAVE: Damaging basic attacks and ability damage from abilities deal 60% − 12% (based on distance) AD physical damage to other enemies near the target. Can only hit each target once per attack or ability, and may only trigger once every 10 seconds from the same cast. Personal Advices Ravenous Hydra is a good choice only if you are snowballing and you want to have fun. Your healing will make you unkillable and the 70 attack damage will grant you a lot of damage. The biggest con are that you dont gain magic resistence or armor. |

MY PERSONAL OPINION
unlike many Kayn players I am not a lover of the blue form, I still recommend it when you are against squishy enemies. I'm testing both First Strike and Dark Harvest to understand which is better, at the moment first strike is winning.
