Play extremely safe. Unless you get a huge lead, I would recommend not fighting at all.

Why should you play Janna?
Freelo.
PASSIVE: TAILWIND
Janna grants 8% bonus movement speed to nearby allied champions moving towards her.
NOTES AND TIPS:
Q: HOWLING GALE
ACTIVE: Janna summons a whirlwind at her current location which charges up over 3 seconds, increasing its range by 35%, damage and knockup duration each second. At the end of the duration, or upon reactivation, the whirlwind launches itself in the target direction, dealing magic damage to all enemies it passes through and Airborne icon knocking them up for 0.5 seconds, increased by 0.25 seconds for each second spent charging up to a maximum of 1.25 seconds.
NOTES AND TIPS:
W: ZEPHYR
PASSIVE: While Zephyr is not on cooldown, Janna is aided by a wind elemental who allows her to avoid unit collision and grants her bonus movement speed.
ACTIVE: Janna commands her wind elemental to attack the target enemy, dealing them magic damage and Slow icon slowing them for 3 seconds by an amount capped at 80%.
NOTES AND TIPS:
E: EYE OF THE STORM
ACTIVE: Janna shields the target allied champion or herself for 5 seconds, granting her target bonus attack damage while the shield holds. Eye of the Storm can be used on turrets, causing Janna to be credited for any kills it earns while the shield holds.
NOTES AND TIPS:
R: MONSOON
ACTIVE: Janna Airborne icon knocks back all nearby enemies and channels for 3 seconds, releasing soothing winds that heal nearby allies every half-second while channeling.
NOTES AND TIPS:
This list shows which champions have the strongest synergies with Janna (part of this list is somewhat based off my own opinions and experiences, Janna works well with almost all ADCs, however some more than others).
Explanation of Tiers
These ADCs are ranked based off two reasons. Whether they can make the most use out of Janna's shield (highly reliant on AD, have 2v1 potential, huge amounts of poke) and whether they benefit greatly from peel.

Zoning
If you're confident enough that you won't get ganked/you have a clear cooldown or health advantage, you can zone the enemy laners from obtaining farm and exp. This is surprisingly easy for Janna to do so. Place your Q on the side of a minion wave as shown below and let it fully charge.
You can also put your Q in a bush which makes it harder for enemies to dodge the spell.
If the enemy laner tries to approach the wave, release the Q. If you hit them with a charged Q and you have the right ADC, you can easily pull ahead in trades/kill them if they're low enough.
Farming
As a support, all you have to do is let your ADC get the minion kills. However, when the wave is pushed to your side, you should try to help your ADC not lose minions to the tower.
Melee minions will take 3 tower shots until they die. Usually you don't have to do anything to these minions since the ADC will just kill the minion after they take 2 tower shots. If a melee minion is around 70 - 90% health, you should auto attack the minion to bring it down to just above 50% so that another tower shot will bring the minion to low health allowing your ADC to get the last hit.
Caster minions will take 2 tower shots until they die. You should aim to basic attack these minions once before they take the second tower shot. The first tower shot will bring the minion to around 30% of its health. By auto attacking before the second tower shot will bring it to 15% of its health allowing your ADC to last hit it. If the caster minion is below 70% of its health, its usually up to your ADC to kill it before it takes a tower shot.
Warding
Here are some warding areas you should try to ward at. Over time, you will start to extend your warding area. Red stands for early game. Green stands for mid game. Blue stands for late game. If you're losing, you would want to ward areas closer to your fountain. If you're winning you would want to ward areas closer to the enemy fountain.
Working with your ADC
You should always try to maximize the amount of damage your ADC can do by using your E: Eye of the Storm, on them to give more AD. Here are some examples of when you should shield your ADC to win trades harder:
- Jhin 4th shot
- Caitlyn Headshot
- Lucian Q + double basic attack
- Caitlyn Q and Ultimate
- Ezreal Q and Ultimate
- etc.
If you see your ADC poke with an enhanced basic attack or ability, you should always aim to shield them to give them that extra bit of damage.
Lane/Early Game
Early on in the game, try helping your lane push by using Q on the wave or by auto attacking higher health minions. This will allow you to get a level advantage on the opposing bot lane. Around levels 4-7, you should try to freeze the lane on your side to make the enemy bot lane more vulnerable to ganks and to be able to zone them from the wave. Past those levels, you should try to take down towers since as of the start of Season 6, towers give a huge gold advantage to your entire team if you destroy one. Rewinding back to earlier levels, on your first back, you should try to rush a sightstone so that you can ward around your lane and at dragon.
Here's a tldr;
- Most support matchups will go even/hard for you. Whether you win lane depends on your ADC.
- Janna is picked for her ability to roam, save allies, and disengage teamfights.
- In lane, a good Janna should look for good opportunities to trade with her ADC (enemy with cooldowns or low health) or just play reactively to the enemy laners (block attacks with shield).
- Never forget to use your active items (as Janna you will have 2-3).
- In late game, look to roam with your allies to capture objectives and ward deeper.
- Stay with your backline.
- Always look to utilize both the heal and knockback from your ultimate.
- Good Jannas have good reaction times.
