Hey guys, Outgoingmedal0 here with my Kassadin guide. I am by no means a pro, but I've played my fair share of games as Kassadin. Basically, this guide focuses on farm farm farm early game until you hit 6, once that happens, you pretty much win any trades in mid lane and act as an excellent assassin with your crazy burst past the lane phase.
So I basically run full AP runes to get the absolute most out of Kassadin's horrible early game. Since he can be kited so well by anyone with ranged poke pre-6, he relies upon last hitting passively, poking with Q when you can. Basically, full AP allows you to last hit minions under your turret with your E and Q, which is inevitably going to happen because kassadin cant push a lane for **** pre-6. Its also handy for an early gank if you're lucky enough to get one. MR Yellows work nicely with his passive, but thats the only non AP runes you'll need, especially if you let their mid push and you can safely farm under your turret.
Not really much to say here, AP offensive masteries. Just take the AP tree making sure to pick up the MR and CDR, you will need it to trade effectively.
Inb4 "why no catalyst rush?" well, that's fine to rush, but I prefer the double/triple dorans approach, especially if you're farming well and you have a kill pre-6. The reason is having the mana regen and the small additions to hp and AP allows you to immediately go into a Rabadons. This drastically improves any damage you deal and I prefer the raw damage over the survivability of catalyst ROA approach. Hey, if you're not confident, then by all means go catalyst/ROA path first, then into rabadons. I figure, since you're an assassin anyway, you're not exactly on the front line, and his extreme mobility means you're going to be able to get out of any bad situations if you do get caught in them. Only other thing with items is Zhonya's is a good choice when their AD is getting fed and you can sometimes swap out Abyssal for Rylais, although I personally dislike this since the only AOE you are going to use it on is his E which is a slow anyway. The HP can be handy though, but when you have ROA, whats the point? Also, DFG would have been viable, but since its about to be nerfed so far itno hell, its nowhere near as good as it used to be.
I max Q first. Most people don't, but I do because:
Its amazing burst
Does not require charges
Can use for poke
Longer range then E
Lengthens duration of silence.
E is maxed 2nd because its high burst potential in conjunction with Q. His W I take a point in early, because if you're farming right, you won't be dependent on blue buff as much, freeing up your jungler. its good for sustain and last hitting, but I max it last.
Flash = amazing spell, although, you can actually get away with taking exhaust or TP instead. Since Kassadin has a free flash every 6 seconds or so with riftwalk, I find that if you're confident on surviving early game ganks and harass, you can swap it out for TP to keep in lane and make sneaky assassinations :P.
Ignite = pretty much no negotiation here, its offensive capabilities is amazing and the 5 AP when its on CD is useful due to our mastery setup. Its basically a must have on Kassadin.
Kassadin is a freakish mid when played right. Be wary of his terrible vulnerability to kite and harass early game and make it to mid game. From here its pretty much "assassinate their AD carry", "Assassinate their AP carry" U mad enemies? This setup pretty much allows you to 2 hit their enemies and will have you gloating with "Why no kassa ban?" in all chat. He is truly insane when played right, hope you enjoy :P
