Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This is generally my build for when i am playing alone in solo matches for kassadin. Generally Kassadin is not the best for arranged / ranked gaming because he is based too much on ganks and if the enemy team has good team work / wards you'll probably end up not getting the gank or getting ganked yourself.
Void Stone - Kassadin takes 15% reduced damage from abilities and transforms this damage into bonus attack speed. Last up to 4 seconds.
-Basically the 15% damage that is reduced is turned into attack speed for up to 4 seconds.
Null Sphere - Kassadin fires an ethereal bolt of void energy, dealing magic damage and silencing the target for a few seconds.
-Kassadin's main damage ability.
Nether Blade - (Passive): Kassadin's melee attacks restore mana. This effect returns triple the mana against champions.
(Active): Kassadin gains bonus armor penetration for a short duration.
-I usually get this ability fairly early making it easier to haras and you dont constantly need to get blue books, this is especially good if some of your other teamates need it.
Force Pulse - Kassadin draws energy from spells cast in his vicinity, gaining a charge whenever a spell is cast near him. Upon reaching 6 charges, Kassadin can use Force Pulse to deal magic damage and slow enemies in a cone in front of him for 3 seconds.
- Basically after 6 abilities have been used around him he is able to fire a cone infront of him damaging and slowing enemies.
-Very effective at preventing enemies from getting away from a gank.
Riftwalk - Kassadin teleports to a nearby location, dealing magic damage to surrounding enemy units. Each subsequent Riftwalk in the next 7 seconds costs 100 additional mana and deals additional damage.
-Great at chasing up to people and escaping ganks.
TIPS+make you literally impossible to catch. If you find yourself stunned / snared pop cleanse and riftwalk out. Remember walls are your friend, you can riftwalk with ease past walls making you virtually uncatchable.
When going in for a gank i suggest using Nether Blade then hitting them with, riftwalk onto them, force pulse, then continue to "cut" them until null sphere is up. If you think you can kill them go ahead and riftwalk onto them, remember rift walk stacks damage BUT it also costs A LOT more mana. They should be pretty much dead at that point.
In team fights i generally hide behind the tanks / or behind a wall. You can continuously bombard them with nullsphere without them being able to hit you (remember you are extremely squishy.) Once someone is very low health come in and finish them off. Riftwalking in can be extremely dangerous because they will be able to focus you down very easily so keep this in mind.
use Nether Blade pre gank then:
1. Null Sphere
2. Riftwalk onto them
3. Force Pulse
4. Continue to slash them and use your abilities when they are up.
Keep in mind Riftwalking can kill people and its damage stacks if you use it continuosly BUT it costs more and more mana each time so keep that in mind.
1. Bombard them with null sphere from behind the tank or behind a wall
2. Riftwalk in
3. Null Sphere (if its up)
4. Force Pulse as many as possible
5. Finish anyone off with Null Sphere / Auto Attack
Note: Kassadin is VERY squishy so be careful when to charge in, if it looks like you will die DON'T charge in and lose your stacks continue to use your abilities to get them down.
There are a FEW ways of starting with Kassadin. I've listed my suggestions as to what to start with based upon your skill level.
Amplifying Tome and 1 Health Potion.

Then start to follow the item build listed above.
